  • Totally awesome man.

  • fucking awesome dude. you're on it.

  • good job man

  • The Spirit of Radio is the correct....and that improv is frikkin awesome!

  • Better Than Neil...

  • @MrMutron go fuck yourself

  • Fun song to drum to, huh? The greatest, and the most relevant song by Rush, I think anyhow

  • i love the improv you do during the invisible airwaves verse it sounds sweet. nice job

  • Awesome, you're a great drummer :)

  • And every drummer should learn the correct title of the song

  • first time I've heard this song.

You are one hell of a drummer, awsome to watch!

  • Why tradiitional grip?

  • Comment removed

  • @101327 i think Neil Peart plays this way too

  • A real "virtuoso"! B R A V O !!!

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • every drummer should learn, well unfortunatly every drummer isnt amazing like you are :( wish i could play this

  • You just had me suscribing with this video. Awesome!

  • Great feeling... Nice!

  • holy shit man thats siick drumin keep it up

  • You killt it, bruh!

  • im learning how to play this, finally...

  • more awesomeness.... are you self -taught or 'taught'? i don't think you are 'struggling' with the traditional grip....

  • Comment removed

  • I love Rush! They're music is actual music.

  • @wongIgnow you're right but your english sucks lol

  • Wow. Great job. Ummmm that's all that's needed to be said...

  • wow really awesome the kit!

  • Im really jealous at your skills! How long have you been playing?

  • I liked his hi-hat sticking.

  • peart's tom tuning makes a major statement, need a special band to make it fit...

  • very uncomfortable looking grip?? You need to change your grip to matched, your struggling with traditional big time?!!

  • @drums2play1 Well, if it works for him, then it's all good. You know all of us play differently, right?

  • @drums2play1 actually, he changed to matched at the reggae part. its by choice that he does that.

  • are you in a band? all your covers are some of the best ive seen on youtube, nicely done

  • Dude, your good!

  • nice job sissy!!! u play very good

  • I watched Neal Braatz for about 10 seconds. Come on. Eaton is the ONLY one that improves on Peart--not to mention Copeland. Not that you would want that kind of outlandish drum fantastico if you were actually recording a song, but we're here to see the bravura of extreme drumming.

  • solid guy!!!

  • Did you just learn the traditional way or did you play snare in a marching band or something?

  • What is the name of the things on top of the hi hat.

  • @Mnog1997 it's rototom!

  • that kit sucks and it does not cost that much!!!!!!!

  • @Str33tBaIIin OMFG dude!?! what a comment...

  • sound wasnt good but the cover was amazing, cool fills at the 2:38 parts and those, good job! :D

  • which toms are they on top of your hats?

  • Just saw Neil Peart and Rush at jones beach on long island two weeks ago. I gotta say I have seen alot of people try to do him justice and fail miserably. That being said.... DAMN!! YOU ROCK!!!

  • What kind of drums are those? Also, how did you tune them?

  • 0 dislikes lol

  • i love how instead of just NOT doing the xylophone part you went ahead and added some of your own flair. AWESOME :D

  • Im lovin the traditional

  • You should consider buying Vater Alien Freak sticks. They have the same shape from tip to the butt, So when you play the slow part and then when it picks up speed, you don't have to worry about flipping the it so you use the tip of the stick.

  • lol there's still a hidden cymbal on the right oO 3:15 and you know what I mean xD

  • ur a bad ass yo

  • @0:38 is the best part

  • amazing!

  • This vid must have over 1000000000000000000000000 views!!!

  • What is That Three Set Of Drums on his left side, i really want to know i love the sound to it

  • @NirvanaFavorite They're actually called Timps. I have a pair, they come in all different sizes.

  • hey bro what size is that splash next to the jam blocks? its just entertaining me so much lol but great cover

  • did you make those tabs? i cant find any on the internet...

  • i love Pearts mechanical, robot feel in his drumming

  • wow

  • jeez your technique is just FLAWLESS really great cover

  • WAIT. i just saw your newer vids. SIICCKK

  • this is so awesome!! i could watch this a hundred times and it would still be amazing. love the sound of the tri-toms. this was taken in 2008, i can hardly imagine how solid you are now. awesome cover

  • damn dude sick ass drum set

  • is fuckin Pert even playing in the backgrounf. Amazing man

  • every drummer should learn this song ... if they can o.O

  • you sir, are a close resemblance of god.

  • Nice to see some drummers who hold the left stick traditionally nice work

  • im suprised this kid isnt famous.

  • You drums are real good awesome !

  • duuuudde.. yo crazy :P keep it up!

  • You are a bad ass......nice set....and you obviously know how to put to good use.

  • your cover more comfortable in my ear....

  • MINDBLOWIN, MAN!!

  • wooow good:D! @1:89

  • wooow good:D!

  • unbelievable cover, nice drum kit too

  • my fav part of the song is 1:26

    nice job btw

  • anyone who says this guy is mad needs there head looking at

  • Great video. But at the intro i think the fills sould mainly be on the standard pads. also love the fils in the section with the synths

  • personally i thinkg guitar is harder to start with, but, it is much harder to become good at drums. I say this but when I think about it I've played guitar for a year and sound shit still, I've played drums for a month and am decent. Obviously couldnt pull of stuff like this though:P and i still have a long way to go with different techniques

  • Drums could be easier..

but only is some songs were they are only background noise..

i play both guitar and drums and i think that drums are harder...

  • @Nodnarbize I'v being playing keyboard for years and i find drums easier its not a fact or anything it just depends on what you find easier.

  • amazing job prob the best and my favourtie cover of this. how long you been playing like10+ years or are you a natural

  • AWESOME COVER DUDE<3 the best I've seen so far <3

  • look how he holds his left stick

  • AWSOME!

  • sick dude

  • haha i like that little shuffle improv during the reggae part. Nice work.

  • While the grip he using is rather off, it does make things a lot easier for drumming on a trap set. In reality, the only thing different about it than any normal traditional grip is that the left hand is moved a little further down the stick. This guy is an AMAZING drummer. Five stars from me, bud.

  • .........wow......

  • @sshaxy that is the proper way of holding the left stick, I play that way to as I find it easier. I'm a left handed drummer so no my left hand isnt weak. Thats just how some people hold the drumsticks, and thats also how snares play in drumline or school marching bands.

  • @gopats1184 i was a snare drummer in a drumline as well.. yea u definately use ur method well. but ur not supposed to remove ur left index finger from the stick... there are times where u just hold the stick with ur thumb.

  • who cares as long as he can play like that? =D

  • that was awesome. nice kit too

  • are you sure your name isent Neil

  • pert

  • Peart

  • im over it.

  • wow, how much did that all cost? :D

  • For everything? I've never really tallied it up as the kit has grown piece by piece over the years. The main 6 piece Tama was about $1400, the various snares are around $600, cymbals and and hardware, maybe $2K all together- I guess in the range of $3500... Dang. And that's the low end Tama too!!

  • wow

  • @specialanthony shit man my kit 6 piece mid range tama top of the line sabian cymbals and double bass cost about $3100 all together

  • and also for everyone who watches this song cover you should watch Neal Braatz cover this song!

  • @Str33tBaIIin fag to the max.

  • this is awesome!!! keep it up!

  • the intro of the song always confuses me xD

  • Best cover on youtube!

  • FUCK YEAH!!!! awesome playing

  • 4:00 he starts playing with the opposite end of the drumstick amazingly cool video

  • you're freakin' amazing

  • fucking beastly cover

  • Fucking awesome cover

  • yo man your reall good, you should be getting way more views than that. s.o.t.r is a hard song to play.

  • Play the cymbols, don't smash them!

  • wow... this anthony really is special

  • i think tht u and neal braatz should have a drum off...i like to c tht one

  • i typed this with my nose

  • Nice playing with the traditional grip, Neil Pert covers are pretty hard to play just playing with matched

  • Great Drumming Man. Druma are probably the hardest Instrument to play

  • effing moron.

  • vocals

  • haha for me guitar is much harder than drums

  • try it then before u open your mouth I bet you can't do it on drums... and u can't do it on guitar either after ur inteligent comment...

  • I never said anything about being able to play this on either instrument. What was your point? And speaking of intelligent you spelled it wrong.

  • I know I spelled it wrong. =D yeah you didn't but I mean that song is really hard on both instruments so you shouldn't make the drums down as their so easy you should try it before you say something like that...

  • i just said guitar was harder i didnt say drums were easy. it was an opinion anyway

  • @halodemo65 ya man thats your opinion but you can look at it like this, guitar you got 6 string and 20-24 frets with the top frets beeing rarely used but you used two limbs( both the arms) to play the instrument , but with drums you got all the limbs working and making them co-exist and for that reason many ppl will say drums are harder , but thats IMO

  • @Dykstein who cares, you play for fun anyway. My band wright songs we want to share and songs we wanna have fun playing. I play guitar for a band and drums for another. Personally drums are easier to pick up when you start off. But after that it is a b*tch. Whatever floats your boat.

  • yes i agree with your statement.. when your start with the drums its not to hard to start learning but exactly after you can play a little its harder to get good but with guitar its harder in the begining cause the guitarist sucks then he gets decents and starts getting really good its like the oppistie but i donno like i was say its my opinion(IMO) so no 1 cqn tell me im wrong or right its just how I feel on the subject

  • it was a good cover even though you in proved a lot of the song.

  • Dude..you really are awesome...your technique is flawless.

  • Your left hand trad grip is very loose

  • SO?! it obviously WORKS for him doesent it?....

  • Finally! Another drummer who drums with traditional outside of jazz. Sir I commend you :)

  • HOW COME EVERYONE HAS SUCH HUGE SETS

    FUCK LOL

    btw great cover ;)

  • @nickisanarchistalive LOL i know right

  • ... i love you..

    No homo.

    But that was awesome!! :D

  • whats probably the hardest rush song to cover?(not live)

    La villa strangiato? YYZ? 2112?

  • La Villa, and some of the tracks from Hemispheres have some wicked time signatures (can't remember the track names off the top of my head).

  • this an insane drum cover u did an excelent job :)

  • Why do you hold the stick weird in your left hand?

  • You mean Traditional Grip?

  • Well in alot of videos I've seen people hold both sticks like you do with your right hand.

  • ok in drumming theres 2 grips... traditional(where you hold the left hand stick diffrently as shown here) and matched which is both sticks held like the one in his right hand! so basicly its just whatever you learn or feels better... i know with neal peart he learned all his paradiddles on trad. grip then when he switched to matched for the more power when playing he never relearned them so switches to trad. to play paradiddles... (ignore the bad spelling)

  • For the record- I find I have alot more finesse and control, AND power with traditional grip! :)

And for the Test For Echo tour, Neil played all trad. grip. After his personal dramas and the 5 yr hiatus RUSH was on, he didn't play drums for a while and went back to relearn in traditional grip.

  • ya... the only thing is since then he has added all the electric and such and now since its all spread out imagine playing that trad. grip... like its possible just for some stuff matched is alot easier. also im assuming you learned on traditional grip? not that theres anything wrong with it its just whatever feels best for you... also why some people play left handed because it feels more natural.

  • Hey Anthony, i'm a fan of you playing the drums. You're an example for many drummers. Many greetring from The Netherlands, Gerard.

  • Dude your Cover is Epic. Keep Rockin Bro

  • damn... your beast!

  • I wanna play the drums =(

  • Dude i'd so kill to have you in my band

  • how do you get the beat on the hi hat down from 0:35-0:42? it seems impossible for me

  • Do you mean on the ride? That's what I'm playing during that time. It's a variation of a paradiddle on the ride (a Neil Peart classic that he does in countless songs). For reference purposes- Paradiddles are counted like this- 1 e and a 2 e and a 3 e and a 4 e and a, where each stroke alternates except the "and a" strokes which are doubled one each hand.

  • The ride is counted like this: 1 and a | and 3 and a 4 e and. The kick is counted like this ( | = 2, 3, 4 but are not played): 1 a | and | and a | e and. And the snare is counted like: | e 2 and | e 4 and a. Hope that helps!

  • i love the sound great job

  • Congratulations, very nice job. IMO it´s hard to play this song with the traditional grip. Keep Drumming!!!

  • WHAT kind of hi-hat are you using it sounds amazing?

  • They are an old pair of Sabian 14" regular hats. The Ink has long worn away- I got them used and that was the only markings on them at the time. They actually are really great, I only wish they were 13"- I'd like them to be a little higher pitched.

  • Hey, that was awesome! NICE JOB

  • wow! rock on Anthony!

  • right on buddy. Skins dont sound the best though. great drumming. Check out vrsca02 spirit of the radio!

  • Thanks! Yeah my heads are about 5 years old now, just replaced the snare head but that's it. Toms are needing them bad!

  • dude you're fucking awesome =D 5/5
