  • u live in toronto me too

  • very nice!!!!

  • Awesome! I'm considering getting the D40 as my first DSLR. But I'm not sure between the D40 and the D3000, what would you recommend?

  • shoulda used faster shutter speed

  • How many pictures per minute?

  • its a good thing that your Shutter didnt died =)

  • lollz

    the fountains

  • LOL... Totally called it. I was like "that looks like toronto!" Great job bradah.

  • I read that it took 1.5 seconds between each shot, If I do that my camera attempts more shots than that it takes. :(

I also use VirtualDub but my video's are somewhat shocking, I have one timelapse in my videos here on youtube.

Did you use Camera Control Pro for taking the shots or did you use a real intervalometer?

Could you also please explain what settings you use to export the images as .avi?

    Thanks in advance.

  • this is really really cool.

  • You should have taken that photos in manual mode and not auto.

  • i just bought a nikon d40 and i cant wait to get it in the mail!!!

    im super stoked!

  • By the way how long did it take to shoot all the pictures?

  • Less than 2 mins for all the locations put together!

  • @janadal86 you set a timer so it takes a picture every like 5 seconds or somthing.

  • that shortens the camera's life span right?

  • not really. You're just taking a lot of shots in a relatively short period of time. It's just normal wear on your shutter, but if you're concerned about that don't buy an SLR :)

  • kool now does this take up more memory then a normal photo?

  • They are normal photos, just in sequence and speed up to sometimes 24 or 15 Fps (Frames Per Second). You can actually make it any Fps you want.

  • oh ok thats pretty kool. i want a d40. i got a fil SLR right now

  • they are all separate pictures.

    it's not filmed.

  • so does that mean the shutter snapped each time? god i dont know how any of this modern crap works

  • ahah.

    I'm honestly not sure.

I'm not quite experienced with this yet.

I never did one of these.

but I would imagine not because the flash woould show in the night time lappes.

  • yeah im still learning too most of what i use is film so...

  • Great video

  • the last 10 sec are the vest good job

  • Damn thought it was the other time lapse effect

    Still nice

  • Nice, what shutter speed did you use?

  • i love the last scene with the water.

the lights on the building is also interesting

  • I have a windows script that lets you do time lapse with a D40. See my profile for details. I also use vdub to turn the sequence of jpg into an avi. I think it is better for very large quantities than MovieMaker. But then you can import the avi into MM to put in titles and audio and so on.

  • is good time lapse and i dont know what will did time lapse with nikon D40 please help me thanks you

  • the fountains are great for a manual time lapse like this

  • Dundas Square is the Times Square of NYC. TORONTO FTW HOME!!!

  • nice vid interesting

  • Mate this is a good video ...How do you do it?

  • just got a d40 and love your vid.. on my first test, i tried moving the camera and used seqeunce mode and held the button down... then pasted into movie maker.. i'll have to play with some more settings, to get the same effect you have.. -rawsnow

  • I think he took a picture at every 3 seconds or so...

  • beautiful something to be proud of, i shall try the same now wiv my d40 :D

  • GReat job! This must have took a lot of work and time

  • oh i love it!

    LIFE SQUAREEEEEEE !!

    i miss toronto

  • very nice. especially the fountain shots. i have a d40x. planning on doing some time lapse tomorrow and i've just discovered there's no interval recording mode !!! Arghhh! really suprised there isn't.....not sure if i can face triggering 2000 shots.

  • anazine, especially with the last one with the waterfall. I won a nikon d40 too and its just a breeze to use.

    great work!

  • Well done! Clever use of a still camera.

  • Nice! It must be hard making manual time lapse videos. Making auto ones is boring enough!

But the end result is alway great ;)

  • Windows movie maker

  • Thanks for that.

  • Nice video with great soundtrack.

What software did you use to make this into a time lapse film?

I hadn't realised it was possible with a Nikon D40.

  • what is the name of that song?

  • Apologize

  • what is the name of that song?

  • 1.5 secs between

  • Nice Job... What is time pause between These Shots?

  • It was just a test, remember on the D40 you would have to click ever shot yourself and after a minute of shot you will get tired. I use the Kit lens 18-55mm for the shots. Thanks for the feedback.

  • what lens that you use?

  • very cool, i have actually done some night shots from the same vantage point as your first set of photos at nathan phil;ips

  • Well done. Maybe you should have taken much more pictures and playing the video faster. Yet, it looks really cool. :D
