not really. You're just taking a lot of shots in a relatively short period of time. It's just normal wear on your shutter, but if you're concerned about that don't buy an SLR :)
I have a windows script that lets you do time lapse with a D40. See my profile for details. I also use vdub to turn the sequence of jpg into an avi. I think it is better for very large quantities than MovieMaker. But then you can import the avi into MM to put in titles and audio and so on.
just got a d40 and love your vid.. on my first test, i tried moving the camera and used seqeunce mode and held the button down... then pasted into movie maker.. i'll have to play with some more settings, to get the same effect you have.. -rawsnow
very nice. especially the fountain shots. i have a d40x. planning on doing some time lapse tomorrow and i've just discovered there's no interval recording mode !!! Arghhh! really suprised there isn't.....not sure if i can face triggering 2000 shots.
It was just a test, remember on the D40 you would have to click ever shot yourself and after a minute of shot you will get tired. I use the Kit lens 18-55mm for the shots. Thanks for the feedback.
u live in toronto me too

Awesome! I'm considering getting the D40 as my first DSLR. But I'm not sure between the D40 and the D3000, what would you recommend?

I read that it took 1.5 seconds between each shot, If I do that my camera attempts more shots than that it takes. :(
I also use VirtualDub but my video's are somewhat shocking, I have one timelapse in my videos here on youtube.
Did you use Camera Control Pro for taking the shots or did you use a real intervalometer?
Could you also please explain what settings you use to export the images as .avi?
Thanks in advance.

By the way how long did it take to shoot all the pictures?
janadal86 2 years ago
Less than 2 mins for all the locations put together!
victorcalvinlee 2 years ago
@janadal86 you set a timer so it takes a picture every like 5 seconds or somthing.
qwertykyle666 1 year ago
that shortens the camera's life span right?

kool now does this take up more memory then a normal photo?
GMSamuelRhine 2 years ago
They are normal photos, just in sequence and speed up to sometimes 24 or 15 Fps (Frames Per Second). You can actually make it any Fps you want.

Nice! It must be hard making manual time lapse videos. Making auto ones is boring enough!
But the end result is alway great ;)

What software did you use to make this into a time lapse film?
I hadn't realised it was possible with a Nikon D40.
