I have a 390E (I know, old).Mine will cut off if the plug is moved a certain way. I disassembled the unit and checked the jack. The joints are fine. I was suspecting the plug well contacts were bent out too far so I adjusted them. Still does it. I suspect the AC adapter has a wire fracture in the neck of the plug. I'll have to check it on the fluke.

I got a IBM ThinkPad T40, sometimes when i turned it on, nothing come up on screen and it is working and sometime it works fine everything on screen and after a while, it doe the same problem. Please help me. Windows XP Pro

hey another thinkpad X40! if you are going to do this yourself make sure to use a proper ESD work surface and not a piece of cardboard.

Now, if you've completely stripped one of the keyboard screws like the previous owner of my machine did what do you do?

Just go's to show it aint rocket science, just so long as you are carefull stripping out the board and can solder...EASY JOB.

Good job. This guys knows what he is doing unlike alot of people I know. Some people I know who attempt this destroy the traces on the motherboard since they dont know how to solder or they use irons with way too high wattage. Ive even seen some idiot try to do this with a soldering GUN! I usually charge $150
