@hosscdxx1 Would you be kind enough to tell me where, which chapter, which page please. i would really appreciate it, because i have studied the quran for some 25 years, (including hadiths), i have never found anything in the quran which explicitly prohibits music. Praise be to Allaah. Evidence of prohibition in the Qur’aan and Sunnah: Allaah says in Soorat Luqmaan (interpretation of the meaning): “And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]
The scholar of the ummah, Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: this means singing. Mujaahid (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this means playing the drum (tabl). (Tafseer al-Tabari, 21/40).

Ma’aazif is the plural of mi’zafah,and refers to musical instruments(Fath al-Baari,10/55),instruments which are played(al-Majmoo’,11/577).Al-Qurtubi narrated from al-Jawhari that ma’aazif means singing. In his Sihaah it says that it means musical instruments. It was also said that it refers to the sound of the instruments. In al-Hawaashi by al-Dimyaati it says: ma’aazif means drums and other instruments which are struck or beaten (Fath al-Baari, 10/55).
@enter08com : please tell me where, please show me a hadith which is not considered "doubtful", and if the prohibition was so clear cut how come the schools of islam do not agree on this matter. Allah does not forbid it in the quran-never, not even once does it mention any prohibition, none, nothing. Such prohibition on music was added later by those who tried to bring in aspects of christian doctrine to islam. The ultimate musical instrument is the human voice-would you silence that.

The hadith is authentic.
I read a big number of hadith who forbid music. They can't be all wrong. I listened to music. But now I stopped. And I can tell you: "There is realy not enought space in the heart for music and Allah swt"

I have muslim friends who are great, but unfortunately, they all condone the terrorism. This worries me. What also worries me is the video that I have on my favorites about a cleric preaching to children about how wonderful it is to die a martyr...sick basically.
My parents are southern Italians who emograted to the Uk in the 60's. My mother always felt more comfortable mixing with Muslims. She really admired their modesty and dignity. She used to point out the women wearing Hijabs to me and would say ' See those girls? Those are good girls. I want one of them for your brother when he's ready to be married' There are a lot of Muslims infkuences in southern italy.
