  • what is name of song ?

  • I trained with him about 15 years ago in San fran ! I will never forget the power and speed he has.

  • Thats the place where I train every week :P

  • HMM! Lots of comments to this video most of them by people that have only meat Dojunim briefly. Let me clarify some of the misconceptions written. Dojunim is now 74 and still teaching he was born October 27th , 1936

  • “Dojunim is not a very endearing person” - He actually was not in his young age or so I have been told; He was a young man in a very high position teaching people who had more experience in the government and the military. He was also the lead master for the South Korean Blue House Security force the American version of the secret service.

  • Dojunim and Bruce Lee: Bruce Lee was one of Dojunims best of friends. Lee planed to make Dojunim a movie star on his own right and had already stated written a script for a movie Ji was intended to start on when he suddenly died. The game of death movie that made it to the theaters was staged and intended to be won by Bruce. Latter years produce footage of a longer more intense fight with similar results.

  • Still the end results was not the important aspect of the staged fight in that movie but the fact that Bruce established what he considered to be the most effective efficient arts of the time. His art represented by Abdul Jabal was preceded by Dojunims Hapkido. Thus Bruce perceived Hapkido to be the best martial art second only to his own system of no system or style.

  • The Golden Belt: Bruce Lee gave Dojunim that belt recognizing him as a great friend, honorable teacher and recognizing him as a significant martial instructor in his life. And it is indeed a color intended to be of great honor in Chinese martial arts. Dojunim still has that belt, and one a good day he will put it on and at the end of a long seminar he will talk sometimes almost in tears about his good friend Bruce.

  • I guess you will have to read these bottoms up for it to make sense. Hope this helps to clarify some of the legitimate questions. Not interested in the childish stupid comments.

  • aha all of you SUCK... hes one of my great grandfathers but WHY did he let his belly go so far -.-

  • 1:24 if thats part of hapkido then my mom must be taken classes cause that crap hurts with a belt

  • hahahaha true that, man. that shit leaves marks!

  • Grandmaster Ji is awesome. Participated in a seminar he taught in 2005--saw a 69 year old man (Dojunim Ji) dodge head kicks from a 35 year old Master. Incredible

  • HYVÄ SUOMI!

  • not an audio swap

  • THIS GUY CAME To MYstudio and taught me some hapkido!!!

  • Sweet. I've never met him, but I believe my master trained under him a while

  • Of all the Hapkido I've seen on you tube he is the only one that looks real to me. Most of what is posted elsewhere is so flashy and staged it would never work on the street. Ji Han Jae is actually doing real self defense.

  • well u are right he is real even brue lee was impressed by him and yes he is one of if not the greatest but his master gave him the foundation of the art. but he founded it god bless

  • i swear too god that han jae ji is my grandfather he married my grandma lisa ji which is my moms parents now my grandpa is 73 years old

  • pls do not swear but you must be serious i guess if so that is awesome my cousin is a grand master of tang soo do in korea. Where does he teach now or is he still alive he is great

  • amazing

    muy bueno

    really gmaster...

  • yes i agree he really was a true grand master, bruce lee was even impressed with his artistick ablitly

  • i read that this great master of hapkido was angry for bruce lee while making game of death because he forced him to do what he did not want...and he was leaving a stage and bruce lee with offend...it was conerned with a scene of foot work..

  • he seems a really good master...amazing

  • whoa he so old now.

  • he may be old but man do his techniques hurt. I was at the seminar he did in California at Azad's Martial Arts center and he used me as an example once. I thought man this old man used to be great but what can he do now? I don't really remember him doing any techniques...all I remember is looking up at the ceiling and landing straight on my back and then pain shooting through my wrist and i'm not a small guy either...Dojunim really is one of the best out there

  • Glad to see him still cranking on people. Havent seen him in years. A number of years ago, and out of the kindness of his heart he and Mr Neighbors stopped in my school and spent 2 hours covering everything from history to various locks. My students still talk about it to this day. He is a true martial artist with the desire to keep the knowledge alive. I only hope that if he is ever back in Fl. that he drops by to say hi.

  • no offence or anything to anyone in here but i think you guys and/or girls should check out "ji han je" on wikipedia and you might see something's wrong

  • the guy being punched in 0:10 was my teacher when i was still taking classes. i was super dissapointed when Ji came to visit Pori and didn't even drop by our gym :'(

  • Bruce lee has his own kind of Martial Arts and he was really good at it, but "no disrespect" I don't think he was better than everyone on the planet at that time. Even it is not make sense to comparing one hero to the other and claims to be who is batter than the other,it sound like a little kids disagreed some issues among them.

  • why everyone compare all the martial artist to bruce lee give the artist some respect in their accomplishments as masters of their arts and all fighters know that everyone can be beaten no matter their skill level

  • yeah! we will miss the grand master!

great video! i practiced hap kido and

i miss the hapkido! too much!!

when teh grand master ji came to merida it was impresive !! and now i can to look him in the video!!

  • bfromsdc that is where you are wrong. je han jae taught bruce lee hapkido. bruce lee is awesome but he is not better then je han jae. even je han jae said that and bruce lee said so.

  • LMAO. He may be better than Ji at HAPKIDO....but Bruce was a superior all-around Martial Artist by far.

  • Lol yeah right

It is actually a well known fact that Ji did teach Bruce some hapkido but it's not like Bruce refered to him as sifu or anything. It was out of friendship. Even so it was just to teach him some concepts and techniques.

Of course Ji is a master at Hapkido, in a Hapkido fight Bruce would have some serious problems. In an actual fight Bruce would wipe the floor with Ji.

  • je han jae is awesome!! i met him the world sin moo hapkido at the hapkido summit in the atco karate school. Grand master mackenzies owns it, he has 5 schools. called, macenzies gold medal family karate. Je han jae 10th degree blackbelt!

  • I got my black belt from him

  • At 72 far better then many of MMA yuong dudes that at 72 will have they bodies broken and could do much less then this Grand Master!

    Good video!

  • Excellent point punhada!

  • This fool got DESTROYED in Game of Death.

  • Because the movie was starring Bruce Lee.. obviously.. he's still one of the greatest martial artists of the modern era. Why do you think Lee had him in the movie?

  • Of course Ji lost. Bruce Lee's not gonna be defeated in HIS OWN movie obviously. But I find myself hardpressed to believe that if Bruce and Ji had fought in real life the result would've been any different than it was in the movie.

  • I can't say I disagree with you.. but, who knows. Ji Han Jae was definitely a force to be reckoned with in his day.. exactly why Bruce elected to have him in his film, because of his martial prowess. But yes, it is hard for me as well to say anybody could've beaten Bruce.. Frank Dux, Ji Han Jae, etc were all worthy contenders.. but that's Bruce.. so, I definitely hear you.

  • Yeah....I'm sure Ji and maybe a few other guys would've briefly held their own in a fight with Bruce before eventually losing, but Frank Dux? The Frank Dux that BLOODSPORT was based on? He was kinda garbage from what I've heard. Legend has it that Van Damme destroyed Dux in a nightclub back in the 90's.

  • Yes he did get destroyed as you put it but he also wore a golden sash, the highest honor in chinese martial-arts, which no one else ever did in a Bruce Lee movie.

  • That makes Ji look even worse. He achieved the highest honor in chinese martial arts and STILL got destroyed.....EASILY.

  • are u retarded, the fight against bruce lee was staged.

  • WTF u talkin bout? The golden sash he had on has nothing to do with honor...it was part of a Gucci outfit he had on...even then the man was a metrosexual...

  • My former Hapkido instructor met him.. I probably had the opportunity to meet him as well.. I hear he's not a very endearing person.. who knows.. he doesn't get the credited that he deserves in the martial arts community.

  • Master JI HAN JAE fought Bruce Lee in the movie "game of death".

  • i met the man right in front of my eyes as i kicked the bag he was holding

i have a bad habit of stickin out my tongue while i do a sidekick so he gave me like a 5 min. lecture on not to stick out my tonguelol

  • he does seminars at my studio like every 2 months :D

  • where is your studio

  • purpleandchodan's studio is in Never, neverland.

Goldilocks & the 3 Bears run the local HKD school.
