@CicoGarcia98 Firmware update 1.2 enabled the Nike+ features WITHOUT the Nike+ sensor. You can still connect it for more accuracy, but it's not needed.
@JunkyardJeff It can work as a pedometer. The white thing at the bottom of the iPod is a Nike+ sensor. The Nike+ sensor is no longer required due to a firmware update.
@Azdian the Nano 6G doesn't require the Nike+ sensor anymore. It works better when the user is consistent with his/her pace, so a treadmill would be fine. The Nano approximates each step when it moves up and down, with that then it gives you an estimate of the distance you have covered. It will not give you perfect distances, but estimations.
@LeoTheGummyBear No. A GPS would be neat to have in the small form factor of the Nano 6G. Maybe on the next version they will have something like that.
@NigeriaHammad7 Yep. Tracking walks is going to be more accurate than runs. For runs I would recommend the Nike+ sensor. Either way the stats are uploaded to Nike+ website and you can view graphs and details of your performance. It's nice to track a few of these things. Optionally it can also publish your results on Twitter and Facebook for bragging and showing off to your friends.
@staceyy1990 We could go into a lot of tiny mathematical details. But... it's not a 100% accurate reading. It's more of an estimate. The new firmware version 1.2 doesn't require the Nike+ adapter, however on my own tests it looks like it's not as accurate.
@JesseBAndersen I have the Nike shoes that go with this, They aren't that expensive to be honest. (In the UK they are more so than US, Assuming that is where you are)
How do you find the Nike plus when running or exercising generally?
@Ingamells17 I don't have the Nano 6G anymore (had to sell it to help pay for a new laptop that I'm currently using). I think the Nike+ is cool when you set a distance the Nano 6G updates you on the distance you have traveled. It's kind of neat when you run faster when it begins to countdown the distance left in your workout. (1 KM left, 500M left, 100M left). For running it's great, for most other workouts it's really not essential.
@Darthsikk I never saw anything that had heart monitor in there. :) There is a band that you can get for that... but I'm not sure if it works with the Nano.
your Nano 6G - Nike+ series was very informative and detailed! i was thinking about getting it for my dad and was confused with how it all worked. thank you for clearing up my confusion!
@joosegue Yep. None of those things will ever be spot on accurate. They can only give you estimations. I'm sure there are more accurate systems out right now.
So for the ipod nano 6G you dont need the sensor that connects to the bottom?

@mfid1234567 They have changed things so we don't need the Nike+ sensor, but I think it's more accurate with the sensor.

@NigeriaHammad7 You will be happy to know that the Nike+ sensor is no longer required on the iPod Nano 6G. It's now an optional thing.

@JesseBAndersen so it can still track everything without me having the dongle or the sensor in my shoe???

when you are running with the nano 6g the cable from the headphones don´t bother you???
Lukmuss 1 year ago
@Lukmuss I use a jacket when I run. Jackets with pockets help a lot. There's also armbands that help deal with the cables.
If you are doing sprints you probably shouldn't have earphones in... it can get messy.

Nice and detailed review. Thank you!
Actually, I'm already using Nike Sportband. But I was considering to use iPod NANO to listen to music while I running.
Now I'm going to order my iPod NANO. :)
