@ivy14 For a develope to the front (or develope devant), lift the leg to passe, then straighten it forward. If it's ballet, be careful to keep your turnout, because some dancers have a tendency to move the leg to parallel while straightening it. For develope to the side(or develope a la seconde), lift to passe, then move your lower leg until your leg is straight, careful to keep turnout. For develope to the back (develope derriere), straighten your leg into an arabesque. I hope this helps.

its called a layout not a develope. what the leg does is a develope.
