We have older copies and application, but the religion of people worship has hidden those copies or tried. You are correct it was not. There are a couple of languages and variations used to reach the diverse nature of the tribes and those outsiders who saw the visions they saw. There are simple international languages that shore up the Text. The problem is they do not support the heretical fanciful stories often taught in churches and synagogues. Joseph was not allowed to speak to them directly. Joseph did not need an interpretter however. Go back to the Text!! There were dialects, but does NOT mean they spoke Hebrew.
