You are a fine player but you will find it hard to progress further man. up and down picking is so important and so easy. just get any scale and alternatively pick each note as you go. get a guitar teacher, if you have one.. get a better one.

@mykalmint400 Second, before telling people what they should do, you need to understand that downstrokes and alternate picking are using exactly where it needs. I've seen tons of punk or QOTSA or Soundgarden cover where people play it up and down. Those people are tone-deaf or something. Maybe they used to listen to teachers like you.
