I'm not a huge eggnog fan, but I think I'll give it another try this year. I've actually never had it with alcohol - I didn't even know you could until a few years ago!

half-and-half: 50/50 milk and cream (sold in prepackaged containers here in the states).

1 quart = close enough to 1 L that you shouldn't worry about it :)

this is some serious eggnog. the recipe i have used with good result is:

12 yolks

2 c confectioners sugar

1 pint cognac

1 pint light rum

6 cups milk

2 cups heavy cream

nutmeg

Half and half when discussing dairy products is generally one part milk to one part cream. At least it is here in Canada, though I would bet it's the same in the U.S.

A buddy of mine calls it half cream? He says that's "British" but he could just be pulling the Brit part out of his hat. ;)

You're not allowed to complain about being pained by Christmas music. I'm a voice major (and an atheist to boot), and this season, and it is all I get to sing. It's... it's almost too much to bear.
