Sorry to be blunt but this Cohen guy is a dick. He's acting like he's giving this master a lecture. Newsflash Andrew--intellectual understanding does not equal real awakening. Funny that he keeps talking about the "postmodern narcissistic personality"--does he even realized that HE is that?
disturbing effects but also disengaging to hear once again Andrew trying to perpetuate his own holding points through meeting other sometimes truly awakened beings and talking out his theory of Guru principle.. It doesn't need to be conceptualised when you meet a true teacher, using all the right words Lee gracefully agrees but hints gently at Andrews edges Go in peace Andrew.
The 'ground of all being' is really the 'service of all beings'. To explain, the surface of the earth is 'the ground' and 'surface' is 'service'. Obviously we should all be serving all beings.
Sorry to criticize Mr Cohen so much but he sounds so arrogant to me. Especially at 24:50 "It's a delicate subject because many people don't understand it... but MY understanding of it is...". (HE has understood so much about it, that he even doesn't listen to what Lee could say about it)
@majjhama yes I agree with you. It sounds to me as if Mr Cohen was teaching to Lee (his point of view). And in fact it should probably be the contrary. Mr Cohen should listen more.
I thought this was going to be a dialogue, yet, Andrew made it into a monologue. Sad. I would have loved to hear more from Lee, especially since there is little to nothing of this man on video and now since his death that's it.
Neither of them ever talk about our Sovreignty as Human Beings which has had me for years knowing that the guru/devotee relationship is deconstructing in general. We are Infinite, we are Sovreign & when we realize this in it's simplicity, we are Awakened to the Truth.
@majjhama the quantum love realized by the master,is soooooo subtle, that u have to be cooked in that love to comprehend it-or relize it which is beyond the understanding mechanics,so as adi da says :its not an understanding matter
I wouldn't agree w/ 'That we need faith and conviction' but rather a simple 'openness' and in a way a neutral innocent willingness to perceive. Source - God doesn't need our faith - our essence, Spirit exists and springs up everywhere, including inside us - whether we have faith or not. Our hearts beat whether we have 'faith' in them or not.
This is not a dialogue but a Andrew Cohen monologue. He constantly interrupts Lee. It shows his need to be in control and his lack of basic human kindness towards others.
@claudelebel55 K rejected the notion that he was needed for another's freedom. The idea of spiritual authority was abhorant to him because it impied power, and any power dynamic enslaves both the person with power and the other. Cohen may be free, but he is not free of that. Buddha taught the same thing: be a light to yourself. I happen to agree with K and Buddha, because it is true. That doesn't make them my authority, it makes truth my authority, as it is everyone's authority.
@peter999124 and yet people gravitated to Krishnamurti and he played the game of spiritual guide if not guru. Furthermore, do you realize that by quoting him to make a point, you have made him into an authority ?
This is a fascinating dialogue - a rare gem between two enlightened masters - and deserves a much wider audience. And, yes, if it was possible to remove the grainy effect, that would improve the appearance. The quality of these two remarkable men, though, shines through.
The Self shines by itself, knows itself through itself,...and this dialog / monolog is simply entertainment,....om tat sat.

Terrible interviewer. Closed minded and loved to hear himself talk. He is very knowledgeable but has no understanding. You know, a spiritual weenie.

Sorry about my poor English. It's a bit sad that video quality is so good nowadays that we have to use these cool effects to make it less good.

@dcompiler Agreed! It was made in 2004 (a pre-YouTube era). It was no doubt thought to be cool at the time. :)
