1:07 we wish you a good night instead of the This concludes our broadcasting for today. And also you taped it when i was not born i am born from April,15,2003
When I was younger, I would tune into the O Canada film, and count how many images I'd see while the anthem played. I was really into drawing and colouring, and had this idea for an art project where I would draw that many pictures of Canadian scenes, and upon completion, I would take it in to the TV station in hopes that they would show it in the sign-on and sign-offs. Sadly, as I grew and developed more skills, the project never materialized. :(
You mean the...C A N A D A...quebec border. And there is a better version of this out of BC...everybody remembers that one...the animated one with the seagull that flies from coast to coast.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I came on here just now to find exactly that. That sign-off/sign in. god....that takes me back to right before the morning cartoons on saturday. I could nearly cry.
Does anyone know who arranged the score for this rendition of O Canada? It is by far the most stirring interpretation of the anthem, in my opinion, ever played.
Hello, I am German and I love this version of the very beautyful Canadian national anthem. And your are right: This version should become the standart version. A lot of greetings from Berlin, Germany.
@iwekks Good evening, I found the sountrack to this version of our National Anthem, and used it for a video I put together on my Canadian Model warships. If anyone wants a copy please feel free to E-Mail me. My video is here

This signoff was replaced soon after (later in 1987 or '88) with a new and really, really nice, mellow, jazzy version, which I would dearly love to see again, if anyone has it!
There is a significant English speaking population in the Montreal area. Therefore, it can support three English language tv stations. This is one of them. There are also pockets of English spoken elsewhere in Quebec. This is the primary CBC station for all of Quebec, therefore, CBMT serves nearly the entire province. However, French is indeed spoken by the majority.
i'm a american, so it may seem a bit odd for me to ask this question, but here goes;
does anybody know the name of the little girl at the end of the montage (you know the girl that grabs the baby around the neck)? how old was she, and is she still alive today?
2:47 SOMEONE STEALED THE UK TEST PATTERN AND WRECK IT TO YELLOW AND CUSTOMIZE!!!

I miss seeing CBC sign off, and list all their provinces. Sherbrooke, Newfoundland, Saskatchewan, etc.

This brings back memories of growing up in Montreal in the 70's and 80's. I remember seeing this in the morning, though.
This is what I consider to be one of the best instrumental versions of O Canada. I also have a 45 of it somewhere.

The sound isn't working on this one!

I should add that the sound doesn't work if one uses HQ mode - without HQ, it works fine.

That announcer is trained in delivering spoken English as well as French, and has to mix them both up in the same sentence too!

My fav sign off. I always remember the diver diving in to what looks like very dirty water. How can the water be so dirty in an indoor pool?

It's always amazed me that his version of O Canada didn't become the standard. It really stands out.

For the benefit of everyone:
The version of the O Canada you hear is a special arrangement composed by Montreal jazz musician Vic Vogel in 1976 for the Summer Olympics.
I only know this because there's a scratchy old 45 with the credits at my folks' place. It says, "To be broadcast without any authorization." :)

CBC made an animation using this music. Check CBC SIGN-OFF 2000 and you will see theres an animation.

I'm wondering when this version was first used. Likely around 1980?

Suprised that it's in English too. I thought Quebec was all French. Or is it Bi-Liningual?
