@TheInformativeGamer I have a 2005 dell that suddenly decided to boot up really fast. it's about as fast as the imac in this video. Boot up times seem so random to me. And, yes, I know this video is lame....it was 3 years ago.
Holy duckin fog shit! LOL I am gonna get a new Mac man that is awesome! I have windows 7 and love it but a Mac that old booting up that fast is just amazing!
@sprintdude011 should go to your downloads or desktop. been a while since i've messed with 10.3 or 10.4 so i don't remember if the downloads folder is on the dock.i don't think it is though.
you care about better in your dell go whit linux check for linux umbuntu is good, better to window but you can't play games like window but check for it is like mac but is free because linux programmer want freedom net. window want you pay for license and game just for window and spyware and more... check in youtube you can see Linux Umbuntu
I bloated up my iMac G3/600 (1GB Ram; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM) with software and it still beats my HP Media Center PC (2.13GHz Core2Duo, 2GB Ram; Two 250GB HDD @ 7200 RPM).
But when I load OSx86 on the same HP, it boots just about the same as my iMac G3.
How usable is the iMac G3 after you installed 1GB of RAM? I recently came into possession one just for kicks, and am wondering if it would even be worth upgrading the RAM to 1GB. It's sitting with 384 MB right now.
It certainly lets me run iTunes, Firefox, and Classic Apps, Cabos, and even BitTorrent all at the same time.
Though, I would never expect it to do any wonders with anything video-related, most especially with Flash animations/video and Javascript-rich websites.
I'd like to get my hands on an old copy of Photoshop CS or even CS 2 just to see how that'll run. But Gimpshop (an open source alternative to photoshop) works perfectly with it... not too laggy. :-)
the imac g3 does play video really well. the latest imac g3 have a 16 mb video chip/card or something, but because i have an imac g3 and you-tube videos most of the time run pretty smooth. sometimes it goes a little choppy but yeah.
lolz only difference with operating systems is if it were windows vista the mac would have won because windows vista is practiacally just a giant pile of bloat wear vs xp.lol
wow wouldn't have imagined osx 10.4.1 working so well on a imac g3 congrats lol....sadly it runs prolly close to as fast as my macbook core duo 2.0 1gb of ram....congrats dude congrats lol
you coould of disabled auto log in, in system prefs but i belive your mac 500 are compareable to p4 cause i know there faster p3s well atleast mine its a 350
no man i REALLY dont think its that size. ive never heard of a screen like that and dell's dont make screens that wide. im betting its about the size of the biggest screen mac book pro's have. which is: 1280x1024 and even that sounds a bit big for a laptop screen. where exactly did you find out your screen was this size?
ok, just because you can set it to 1680x1050 doesnt mean thats the size! thats huge! thats the same size as my 22" acer flatpanel widescreen. and i own a 15" mac book pro, ill look up how big the screen res is right now , just to prove you wrong.. system profiler says: Color LCD: Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1280 x 800 Depth: 32-bit Color Built-In: Yes Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported
I was trying to be nice...but seriously you're an idiot...it wouldnt let you put the setting to 1680x1050 if there aren't that many pixels...because it's impossible...yes, you CAN set it to a lower resolution, because there are more than enough pixels to handle it. I'm not sure you understand the concept of what resolution is. try changing your macbook pro to 1440x900, i bet it will look more crisp, that is, unless you actually do own an older model that did not yet feature 1440x900 res.
the screen resolution, in this case 1680x1050 doesn't have ANYTHING TO DO WITH HOW BIG THE MONITOR IS...it is the number that represent HOW MANY PIXELS THERE ARE ON THE SCREEN. So, yes, my 22" dell monitor AND my 15.4" dell laptop screen both have the same number of pixels, 1680x1050 even though they are different sizes.
i do know what resolution is, im talking about the recommended default resolution setting. which is 1280x800 for my laptop, if i go higher than that the screen is streched out and the icons are much much too small. so if you want tiny icons and tiny text then use 1920 x 1200 on a laptop screen, i just dont see the point
no you just gave me statistics all im saying is the size of the screen with a very high res = small icons and probably sometimes streched out images. and that IS true if you know so much about resolutions you would know that.
Okay, yes, it is true that images may be distorted if you set your resolution to one that is not the same aspect ratio as your screen, but in my case, my dell laptop and monitor are both 16:10 wide screen which is the same aspect ratio as 1680 by 1050 resolution, so there is no distortion here. and who says that small icons are bad anyway? What if i like my icons small and crystal clear? if you dont set your lcd at native resolution then the picture gets a little fuzzy, too.
Macs are about coolness. What sounds cooler? I have an iMac, or I have the most powerful beige box in my state? Even if the iMac is 6 years old, people will be more impressed. No one will care about the beige box with a 8 TB Hard Drive, 8.25 Ghz 16 Core CPU and 64 GB RAM. Unless you tell them all that, no one will care.
Lol do you ever do like disk clean up or disk defrag or BOOT defrag on the windows? Because its SLOW! My Windows Xp pro with an intel pentium 3 processor, with 256 MB of Ram is faster. But not saying nothing bad, Cool video! Really enjoyed it!
you're all retards... You don't need good hardware to make boot faster, you need good software. Mac and Windows are both crappy. Use any linux distro with linuxBIOS and your computer will boot and get to the shell within 6 to 10 seconds, just look it up on youtube...
Microsoft and Apple want you to believe you need super expensive pieces of hardware while you could just get linux which is free and get from your hardware all the power it's capable of
I've been using Windows since 3.1 thanks. adn i definitely like many things about windows a lot more than OSX and there are many thing about OSX i like better than windows.
wow, ahi ves porque mac es mac. asi tenga 10 años la computadora, la amiga correra bien. yo acabo de comprar una de 4010mhz y me he quedado sorprendido. wow. viva mac

You are ignorant my friend, I oredered my Dell from the factory with a 15.4" widescreen 1680x1050 native resolution.
Also... macbook pros are available in 1440x900 for 15" models and 1680x1050 OR 1920x1200 for 17" models. LOOK IT UP.
