  • I love this chic!

  • i luv this video, i am not a goth,....soooo true!!!! also, this video just shows me that goth OBOUSILY arent all the same -_- lol i guess i am admiting that i just "labeled" goths to be....i dont know just strange...but your pretty cool so i guess...your RIGHT!!! lol i luv this video!! >.< thanks sooo much!!!

  • Lol "special "snowflake." I like that. Great video. People used to make fun of me and one of my friends in high school because I was the "weird 'Gothic' Witch freak" and she was this tall, thin, blonde "preppy" girl, but she got me and I got her and we sort of balanced each other if that makes sense. I hate generalizing and stereotyping. It's never useful in my opinion.

  • My hat is off to you. Well done.

  • Could you be a blondie and still bet a goth and whats the definition of gothic

  • @mburkeify You could be a goth if you want to be... no matter your skin to hair color or whatever.

Gothic: To find beauty in dark places.

  • Ultimately its only important what you learn, and you only learn from experience. What your friend learns is going to be different, and equally important somehow down the road of life.

  • all reason to push our own boundaries and grow as a whole person to go on to create something beautiful for the world. If you hadn't seen this happened to that girl then you wouldn't have had this experience and maybe another wouldn't have come along to tell you how important it is to understand that some actions hurt, and that in that hurt we lash out at what hurts us. And that at some point you need to stop the cycle and think before you act..

  • important to not only your mental development but your emotional development as well as your sense of self in the grand scheme of things. Whether they have a positive influence or a damning one is up to the individual and the will of the group they join. I am a firm believer that in the world there must be negative forces to maintain balance and further understanding and love. If we don't understand pain then we don't know what its like and how important it is to live without it, we loose...

  • .....human experience, as well as the need to solidify the ranks and status of the individuals in that group by setting themselves apart from the world. True that people will often hurt another groups member because of preconceived notions but this is also important. If you never experience it then you don't know how it feels, if you don't know how it feels you will do it to others and never fully understand your own actions and why they should stop. As a teen these groups are very....

  • That's it I give up I am no longer young. Teenagers have this lovely hormone imbalance stuff happening that makes every emotion feel so much larger then it actually is. Add that in with an inability to understand cause and effect because their brain is still not fully developed and you have a dangerous mix. I know this is hard to let go of but judgement is important, it lets us tell right from wrong, and and how to appropriately handle situations. Group forming is natural part of the...

  • your pretty

  • ok so im just getting into being goth and I was wondering if u have any tips or anything for me? it would mean so much :) x

  • @cupcakelov98 Lmao. Like your username is any better. Face it, I'm better than you in every way possible and I can say whatever I want. It's the Internet, you pussy. xD

  • @cupcakelov98 Lmao. Somebody is angry. xDD Thanks for the laughs, kiddo. You've been a wonderful audience.

  • I absolutely agree with you. People shouldn't judge or criticize people for the way they look or their interests. Sure, change the channel in a flash when Gossip Girl comes on and make fun of it with your spooky friends in your living room. But when your non-gothy friend wants to tune in, watch it with her and ask her questions about the characters. I'm sure any goth would love their non-gothy friends to show interest in Beetlejuice and Moonlight. Gothic Charm School rules, by the way. :)

  • Sorry, you look more emo than Goth. Poser exposed.

  • @xxDeadlyDECAYxx Pretty sure your username is just as poserish. Including your stupid channel picture. At least SHE shows herself. She isn't being fake like you...

  • were ALL special in our own way, just remember You are UNIQue just like everyone else

  • I want to go out and buy you a better webcam.

  • I quite enjoyed this video. You have common sense. It's incredible to me that people in general seem to let that fall away from them so simply. If I'd shared my opinion on a similar topic, I'd have said the same things you just said. With more obscenities. <3

  • Wow I just sort of came across this video. What a nice message and I can apply it in real life

  • I'm not Goth I'm more scene/punk/rock but this is so true I hate it when people judge someone just becuase of there style.. I may have done that sometime in my life like when I was 9 god.. :c

  • can goths smoke weed ???? jww

    lol

  • heyy yo peeps add me on fb mercedes jube jube oakes lol

  • You have a really hard time getting I the point in a quick manner don't

I don't think you understand what those people on facebook saying they hate preps mean. There are two different kinds of girls that might be classified as "preps". There are girly people and then there are those orange skinned, bleached haired, duck faced whores that wear 1083682019251692 pounds of makeup (---- slight over exaggeration) and like .00001 percent of their body's are covered by their "clothing". That's proba

  • do you have fangs??

  • @TheSadanimegirl yee she dose

  • @ANDYSIXXSGURL143 I think it'd be cool to have fangs.

  • @TheSadanimegirl thats what i was thinking

  • Being judgementally is stupid, it is wrong, and it is misleading. so often perceptions are way off.

  • HI..you know i like the way goth think..good..i woulnt mind getting to know people that has gothic customs...

  • Conformists...

  • I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I am not any specific style. I listen to all music, and dress in all styles... I find it abusurd for people judge and calling me names that have nothing to do with who I am. Whats wrong with liking multiple things, and whats wrong with liking a varity of people... It bugs the crap out of me.

  • That is so true!=D I love ur vids

  • you're great! i really enjoyed listening to this

  • Yeah, I agree: being a jerk more often than not invites trouble to the jerk, I have noticed.....I certainly wasn't born yesterday.......

"The Oil Of The Machine Is Politeness." -'Manor House'; PBS.ORG

  • Wow.....you are as pleasingly-smart as you are delightfully-lovely....... ;)

  • You have the most adorable voice!

    Oh, and good points, too.

  • It's funny, because many people like to label themselves, then get mad when others try to label them. It's like this never-ending cycle in stereotyping that I just don't understand. I don't call myself "Goth" because I like dark things, just as I don't call myself a "Prep" because I like things of the complete opposite (these being just mere examples I've noticed others associating with certain labels). I'm just me, human like my peers and the only name I go by was given to me at birth.

  • well said

  • i totally agree they always judge a group of alternates like i no this website that besically says: all goths never want to go any were in life, satanists, disrespectful muderers ive never seen such rubish when where not all like this..

  • Ughh i can't find tinted moisturizer in the right shade, and i cant keep eyeliner on my waterline =C

  • I agree

  • I love this video.

  • Honestly this is great advice. I don't see many people intelligent as you are on this subject and it is great to see someone your age to understand this. ^_^

  • @KennaAtama I think that's more like common sense, i mean c'mon there are people out there that ripp on others, that's never going to change, if you want to be treated nicely you threat treat others the same way, that's pretty much all that is to it

  • @sepie Thats very true but I have seen so much crap from both younger and older people I know who don't act like this. Most people in this world don't have common sense anymore. Its just nice to see someone who actually has it. That is all.

  • Te maquillas bien, pero, no hables de algo que no sean cosméticos, no tienes material, gracias.

  • Rebuttal - Being nearly as old as Siouxsie I have to say I'm kinda disappointed that "goth" has devolved into this hippie love fest shit. I can almost pinpoint when it started; the first time a glow stick showed up on the dance floor. The tolerance we had was for each other. Period. If you were one of society's rejects you had a home, if not, you were part of the problem and worthy of disdain. I see it's not that today, in that your have few good points, but it's not traditional.

  • @Blueblood1941 Finally... I had a debate on this other girls channel and all these little teenagers ganged up on me acting like they knew what true goth is...

No the kids nowadays are NU-goth. But they refuse to accept that they will never be as good as the old.

  • i actually am goth and have been and ik theres older goths out there and i do agree tht alot of people who think thier goth think they know everything so i agree with you on tht

  • Very nicely said.

  • I used to be Goth... or at least.. I think I'm a softer goth?

Point is, I was a poser who thought she was goth/emo (because back then i didn't know the difference) as hell and was drowning in my own self-pity. I learned now, that you don't have to belong to a certain group. Be who you are, like what you like, no matter what. And if you happen to fall in a certain category, then just shrug it off. You will be labeled no matter what. Just don't judge others by their labels.

  • I adore Lady of the Manners!!!! When I first be came a 'Baby Bat' I was really rude and had a HUGE 'Gothier Than Thou' attitude. She really put me in my place. Love her!!!! Live your video you are a gorgeous Goth!

  • Well choosing to belong to an urban tribe means that you choose to be labled and judged on your clothing. People who belong to subcultures have many things in common - that's why they chose the same subculture. And i'm talking both about style and attitude. =) It's normal to judge someone based on the tribe he belongs to.The important thing is to give people a chance.

  • @TheRnglishAtheist1 Lol a refreshing take on society there!

  • The golden rule is bullshit. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean I shouldn't do it to someone else. Killing someone slowly with a dildo, And a stapler is fun, Nothing happens to me what so ever if I do that to someone else. It is the bullshit of the state to rip our minds apart from the social world, And reality.

  • for the most part i do agree with what you say. in one part we all know how teenagers are in high school and that speaks for itself. i normally do not judge people unless i known them for years. but what i've noticed about large groups of people is that they have this heard mentality that everyone is expected to believe in. noticed it from middle school through college. i think its the level of someones maturity that should be judged, but that seems to be overlooked. but i know what your saying.

  • I really do wish there was more people like you. The world would be a better place.

  • hey i read the book Gothic Charm School lol really nice book = p

What u said is true , y being rude to other ppl while the Gothic community is already being so sick of ppl ranting about Goths , you be no difference being like the ppl ranting about Goths, like u said treat ppl how u want ppl to treat u =)

PS : I hope what i wrote is correctly , since my english isn't good i might have wrote another meaning of what im thinking = ="

  • i am a young goth and you inspire me soo much i love your videos and ummmmmmm... i think your pretty cool

  • OMG I love you I love you, you are so amazing and have a wonderful way with words even when berating the people who are being silly you still manage to keep a smile on my face ^-^

  • I love this :) Thank you.

  • I am a proud goth and my best friend is a "prep" so why can't more people be like us.

  • *were

  • you´re so beatiful i wish i where like you

  • I like this.....and i think you're really beautiful :)

  • Wish there was more people like you in the world :)

  • tbh, all your videos realy get through to me im a young goth and you seem to know loadz about it, so umm... your amazing :)

  • I enjoy this. You're exactly right. Finally, someone who gets it

  • Oh my god I've been making this very argument for years. It's nice to see that there are still people in this world who think logically.

  • well, i do agree with you're point of view. However, this is all social network based. Not that it isn't like that out there. Some people get easily offended or like to offend people a lot and it's completely stupid. I'm sure half of us will or will not own up to half of the things we say on the internet in "real" life. I think in the end people who really are what they want to be don't label themselves. Others label them. All you got to do is be mature and ignore it :)

  • At least shes telling the truth .... I totally agree with her ... She chose good words Lol

  • Low quality video, high quality message! :D

  • Oh no no no no, I'll never be in your faggy talent show.

  • @BeastLordofMetal

That was killer, we showed them.

    Yeah, I hope we win.

  • @BatcaveDilemma lol nice

  • Stupid, hating or trolling people everywhere. The best way i have found is to not give a shit and try to be as polite as possible most of the time. If it's not working, fuck it, fuck them or whatever .. If someone classifies himself for being in a certain group, dressing, acting, thinking differently, it's just inevitable for him to find haters

  • @Distorsted Agreed. I always get labeled by my music alone as a "Queen of Rock"/ "Queen of Metal" because I know so many great bands from rock and metal's births until today. I hate the labels and just want to be left to be who I am and love what I love. I mean sure I have a love for dark clothes and all things dark and "scary", but that's just me. I hate all labels because you may meet a "real" goth/emo/etc. who may say, "Just because you wear black and like dark stuff doesn't make you goth!"

  • @GothMetalhead999 I'm fine with that by the way because I am who I am and that's all the that I ever be. Fuck you labels!

  • You have a point. I think that people should leave stuff they don't like alone and not obssess about it.

  • exactly, this is like my mind talking to itself XD ive been called a poser alot for hanging out with people who would/could/self title themselves as prep or norm or even athletic. becuase they are actually interesting people. cant say im a gothy goth, i like a alot of metal and nowadays the first goth bands are very vital to defining what it is. i gtfo out of goth culture becuase of all the crap poser this and poser that. but now idk you made it seems good again, i see it the same, thank you..

  • Well said

  • wow you hot :)

  • do you have fangs?

  • Fangs! Haha :) loved the Vid :D

  • By all means don't get me wrong you're a beautiful Girl"With or without the Make-up I'm sure "But those dam Teeth" Not saying you in general but it would be Hell trying to give your Man a Blowjob Unless you can take them out

  • @usmc8542

    Unless he's into biting. ;)

  • I love the red lips on you :3

  • You seem quite insightful, I share & respect your views. Nice video. :-)

  • Poser?... dear, if u think u're a vampire... get a coffin till twilight comes.

  • @nienna123abc i think she was scene XD

  • @nienna123abc So what if she's wearing fangs? She was having fun with her look and there's nothing wrong with that. Just because she's wearing fangs does not mean she thinks she is a vampire. She's not a "poseur" either, so take your "kind" thoughts elsewhere, please. Thank you.

  • prep meetup los angeles 2012

  • Im only in middle school and they call me goth or emo i wear black and black makeup fish net gloves and a wolve hat with dark skinny jeans and converse and listens to skrillex korn Three Days Grace and Green Day only a few other people are like me in my school XP

  • @hggffutgfd You're a rocker kid, if anything, not goth...

  • @demonbuttercupp Not according to my friends at school but They don't see me as a rocker chick because im to quiet and shy

  • @hggffutgfd I'm more of a rocker chick and I'm quiet and shy. It's about the music you like, not how loud or wild you are... sometimes

  • @demonbuttercupp Yeah well its nice to know just to clear up the confusion but im pretty sure my friends will still call me goth but guess there still stuck in there own little world

  • @hggffutgfd Mhmm. As in the words of Chris Crocker, don't let other people define you. ^.^

  • @demonbuttercupp I don't they can call me what they want but i don't care

  • Very well said. Good luck convincing others to change. People will be people and there will always be jerks who stereotype based upon someone's clique or clothes. Stereotypers (for lack of anything appropriate to call them) are insecure and belittle others to make themselves feel better. Those that cry when it is done to them and turn around to do the very same thing are what we call "hypocrites". Great counseling for friends, but others give two shits about what some "goth girl" has to say.

  • i love your vocabulary and i agree. people in the darker less accepted cultures such as goth metal and punk, they get angry at people judging them and being cut down for the way they look then they start insulting "preps" the exact same way they hate being treated. so me myself i act the way people dont expect me to act. i walk into class first day and the teachers look at me like im gonna be a problem, then they realize how respectul and intelligent i truly am. people must stop judging

  • I categorize people in two main groups:

    1: Idiots/ignorants

    2: The other ones...

If I meat a dude at the street and he calls me, let's say "you fuc*ing goth no-lifer", then I just simply put him in category nr.1, and I think "fine, he's an idiot, then I won't have to deal with him anymore"

If the next person I meet doesn't say anything to me, then I simply put him in category nr.2, and I think "awesome, at least he's not full of prejudice, and he might be okay"

    yey

  • your right those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

  • I HATE HIPSTERS THEY ALL SUCK

  • gothacy lolol

  • are so true !! i dont fit the stero type of emo/goth and people talk the piss out of me beacuse of that , cuz of this ive tryed to distace myself from poeple and when people are nice to me (eg firends, boys epecaly) im mean back cuz the experces i have had and cuz ive distaced myslef from people for that long ive kinda forgot how to be nice. any i just wanted to say this vid is amazing and im try and talk you advice !!! THAN YOU!!!

  • P.S i love Jillian Venters too :D

  • yes! somebody has explained it! thank you BatcaveDilemma!

  • like, like, oh like, like

  • Only problem is, is that it's a little harder to delete people from real life..

  • i understand what shes saying but if people keep attacking you sometimes you just have to vent i mean big girls hate me for some reason and for a week straight i hated big girls because it hurts and you have to be in that situation to understand how it feels think im 2 kind

  • my friend just became/turned whatever goth he has been goth for 5 weeks and he just wears denim and graphic tees and hates to read how do i tell him he is not goth

  • @kingofthekongsmovies If your willing to risk your friendship just flat out be like "Your not goth! You never will be, blah blah blah." If not then theirs no hope. I have a friend like yours, except she's into the "scene" look, thus "making" her a raver, or at least she thinks. Painful to watch...

  • my gosh you look like my friend Brooke O.o

  • I feel like you invaded my mind the other day....Great advice :D also, even though my computer completely froze the first time I was watching this, I listened to it. Why? Because you are one of those people who have a voice to listen to...and the special snowflake comment only helped me post pone restarting my computer :3

  • I completely agree with all of this.

  • lol, love the special snowflake concept.

  • Comment removed

  • I was watching the Addams family and this came up lol. But great concept :) I'm glad this spreading; ppl won't become friends with the person's clothes, but the person himself. I'm stereotyped the "surfer" and have no problem but because of this, others consider I do everything that involves the type of carelessness or whatev, lol, not entirely true :P keep up the vids!

  • TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN. my GOD, WHY AREN'T THERE MORE PEOPLE LIKE THIS? I SUBSCRIBED, YOU ARE THE BEST PERSON IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. Y u so wise? :O lol... special snowflake... X3

  • i agree with you. we all do this or that but some people like to go over bored about it and get totally upset about it when a friend say something to therm about it.

  • You are absolutely amazing! I have been frustrated by this behavior for many years of my life. I agree with u 100% great video.

  • I agree with you about the whole thing about calling people "posers". i myself wear alot of black and like dark art and music and such, and have a fondness with the occult for reasons i'm not sure, but on the other hand i don't really consider myself Gothic, though i have been labeled that... but on the other hand my cousin who is a hipster or whatever and we really have nothing in common is my best friend and people seem to find it weird when they us hanging out, LOL

  • the "goth elitists" remind me of the nazi, if you apparently dare to like a different kind of music or decide to buy one single tshirt from hot topic they basically rip you a new asshole like the nazi's did to all of the races in the world. and those people are not welcome in my life because at the end of the day we are all people behind all of those clothes and music whe nwe are stripped raw

  • I'm so amazed at how smart you are. Keep doin what you're doin

  • there is no normal noone is normal

  • Why am i here? I'm normal.

  • Not sure who you are or how I found this video, but I completely agree stereotyping and grouping just irritates me I had a falling out with someone who was just grouping people and abusing them the dumbest part was when they said "everyone my age is a dick" just had to point out that they called them-self a dick and now we're not friends but that's fine

  • snowflakes melt on the cold hard ground anyway so....

  • i agree i hate it im not goth but i look like one and get called a devil worshiper and it makes me mad as fuck >=(

  • @zack95305 LOL. Same here! :P

  • you make a sexy vampire...'rawr!'

  • Honestly your hot

  • I love goth music and dress and just the philosophy in general, but I'm not sure I want to commit to wearing black every single day.

  • @prussiawillneverdie2 Then don't, wear whatever you like and feel comfortable in. Simples :D

  • Vamperlin@ so is your spelling -_-

  • @KecioLuvsInuasah actually, she did spell it right. (Three time school spelling bee champion)

  • i could not agree with you more. i'm not goth by any means, but i dress a little different than the average teenager, and because of that people think that all my friends dress the way i do and people think im this depressed "emo" "scene" kid. i also get told that because i wear skinny jeans i'm gay? i have no problem with homosexuals, i accept everyone, but i dont really enjoy being told im something im not.

anyway! just wanted to say i agree with you 100%

  • Comment removed

  • My preference is my preference. Yours is yours. If only people understood this very simple concept.

  • I like goth music(Blutengel, VNV nation) and wear black often. I don't know if that makes me goth. ALso vid coming maybe. Basically labels should be seen as adjectives rather than a noun. I.e. a prep is someone who is preppy but not a prep i.e is someone who has prep tendencies.

  • I admit I love your videos. They are so intelligent, so well worded. I enjoy it.

  • ur a hot goth :)

  • Now old is she?

  • I love this..... on another note.....You remind me of Foamy....but a nicer, girl version.

  • You so cute and have a cute voice! lol

and you seem quite polite and logical for being so young(:

  • kool vid

  • 100% correct love, it's not like preps are some sodding hive-mind....or for those geeks out there...it's not like preps are the freaking Borg...... -rolls eyes- I believe that one should not judge someone based alone upon one rotten apple within any sub-culture let alone judge a whole sub-culture based upon someone's actions, because being goth is about accepting differences in all things. Life and Death are all about acceptance both of others and those things we cannot change...cheers

  • when i read the title of this i though of god not another one of "those vids" but after watching it i am glad i clicked on it you have a really good message how lets see what my friends on face book think about it.

  • u've got fangs?

  • I love lady of the manners :) her book is my 2nd bible :)

  • ur really smart and deep how old r u?

  • This is why I can't be friends with stupid children. These people have no sense.Their brains are so simple they can only distinguish what's on the surface. They fail to have the ability to see the truth. People see the uniform but not the person. They're so stupid they are easily fooled by items of clothing. It's like racism, after 9/11 all muslims were being discriminated against, held up at airports because people were stupid enough to blame every single muslim for the tragedy. Ugh!

  • your my twin o_o jk just the hair...

  • Ugh your hair<3

  • if only there were more people that think the way you do....as i listen to metal, half of the people i know cant accept the fact that i like other music like Sisters of Mercy, RHCP, NWA/Dr.DRE or (dare i say) Hole. I was once ostracized from a group of people that i once considered great people because they saw me wearing a Hole t-shirt. unbelievable. The stigmata attached to being your own person in my area is just appalling.....and sometimes just flat out fuckin depressing....

  • I like your way of thinking :) You should always be polite and act with grace and dignity towards others. As a matter a fact; if someone is out to insult you, there is nothing more annoying to them than you smiling and replying to them in a kind manner. I'm not saying you should be false or lie, it's all in the presentation. You have a better chance to keep you dignity intact if you refrain from swearing and yelling. Don't be rude, be awesome :)

  • Damn this is why i love people like this, this chick should definetly message me on youtube if thats possible i dont know ha

  • First off, I would like to say that I enjoyed your video. It was very informative.

A helpful tip I learned when confronted by ignorance or conflict and I was trying to be the devil's advocate was using the term "we" rather than "you". By doing this, the person feels less as if they have been attacked and more as if they are being given constructive critisism by someone who cares about them. You should try it sometime. :)

  • It is nice to be nice but some times it just doesnt works... I agree is not right to make funn of people but there is a limit of patience.

  • i like to dress goth heaps, its really fun, but since im asian, people think i dress visuak kei :/

  • stereotyping is just a form of racism to me
