I fly for a living. It sure looks real to me. It also appears the pilot is landing in a fairly strong crosswind and keeps his crab angle in through the touchdown. That's a tremendous amount of torque applied to such a long gear leg! It appears to fail due to the side-load imposed by tracking somewhat sideways down the runway. Imagine skidding your car, on stilts, sideways at 110 mph. on the highway. He should have lowered the left wing and cross corrected with right rudder.

The dash 8's in SAS is now retired.

How can anyone say that's fake? A plane comes into land, the gear collapses, and the plane proceeds to slide down the runway in a cloud of dust and flame as the right wing tank ruptures. Last time I checked, that's exactly how such a incident would play out.

Personally, I think that the gear in "Dash" Aircraft are in a terrible location. There is too much stress in that area. Does this ever happen to a 757 ? No, How about an A330, No. Ok there's to odd event but this happens regularly with Dash aircraft.

You don't always need a semi-cantilever wing configureation, its all on design of the structure......This was a problem with the landing gear..not the wing. As for the V-22, wasn't it a problem with sycronyzation of the rotors? Its just like a Tandom helecopter, Boeing Vertol 107s had that issue, same as CH-47 Chinooks.

not OFTEN.. but often enough to be a major issue... the wright of the engine and prop is too much for the sub-par gear that the planes are equipped with.. The force of a crappy landing had made a few of them give out like that..

Dash 8 is awesome! the gear was not locked completely. The pilots most likely new of the problem and tried to get the gear to lock but ran out of options and landed. No big deal. Nice vid!

It's a troublesome SAS Dash-8-400. That's why SAS got rid of all aircraft of this type from it's fleet!!! But I saw the right main landing gear collapsing and NOT the nosewheel!!!

It was shot by a local TV station - they knew the flight was in trouble . it had been circling to dump fuel for an hour prior to the emergency landing. There was a problem with the nosewheel - you can see it faces backwards as the plane flies overhead. despite the fact that parts of the prop were thrown through the fuselage, no one was seriously injured as the crew had moved people forwards and aft to avoid just that
