  • Eric passed away on 8/10/2010, at age 28. He had no head injuries, no health issues, no drugs, and was not a Veteran. He just was unlucky enough to get ALS at age 20. It can happen to anyone. He fought the disease for 8 years, even attended college at Georgia Tech during the early stages. He will be missed. Especially by his family and friends. I am his father.

  • I just read he died at the age of 28 last year.

  • I'm also 24, and that would really suck. o.o

  • Thank you to this family for sharing your journey.

  • and i thought dystonia is bad..this is just wrong on so many levels

  • Did he have some kind of head injury that triggered it?

  • I just sad my prayers go out this young man and his family.

  • I know cancer is bad and all....but ALS makes it look like a cake walk.

  • Why You May Already Be Infected!

According to Nexus magazine, Dr Maurice Hilleman, chief virologist for the pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme, has recently stated that this insidious disease-causing agent is now carried by just about everybody in North America and possibly most people throughout the world. “Some of the more common contaminants of commercial vaccines are mycoplasmas,” asserts Dr. Garth Nicholson

  • @Conflagration2100 thank you for this information this a terrible disease do you have any information on how to donate money to the als foundation for research into finding out how to cure this

  • Chronic bacterial and viral infections that invade the brain have been found at high incidence in ALS patients, and these may play an important role in nerve cell death. For example, investigations at the Institute for Molecular Medicine have found that 85% of ALS patients (and 100% of Gulf War veterans with ALS) have bacterial infections caused by Mycoplasma species.

  • my dad has ALS we cant get him to sleep he flops around the floor all night ....we have given him ambion and still cant sleep what do we do

  • @nelson2642695 im so sorry my dad developed this disease and he did alot of the same things I dropped out of highschool to take care of him my advice would be to watch him when he does fall asleep I know you may not want to hear this but there is a chance he could choke make sure he falls asleep on his side or stomach another option is to contact your local health clinics and see what you can do about getting help with care providers- your family is in my prayers

  • ONLY BY JOINING FORCES "TOGETHER" TO FIND OUT HOW TO STOP PEOPLE FROM GETTING IT AND/OR AT LEAST SLOW DOWN THE PROGRESSION OF THIS DISEASE TO BEAT IT AND DEFEAT IT ON IT'S TRACKS.

MAY ERIC OBERMAN REST IN PEACE AFTER ENDURING THIS SO YOUNG +

  • ERIC OBERMANN 24 YR

    HALEY STEVENS 16 YR

    ARE THE 2 YOUNGEST PATIENTS

    MOST ARE IN 50s

  • What are the odds that Lou Gehrig would die of his own disease? That's just weird.

  • @charger619c Lmao. Troll? If not, the disease is named after him. They think that he may not have actually even had ALS. He may have had another related disease caused by trauma to the brain.

  • @charger619c

it was als named after him

  • @The391956 actol the other guy was right they did name it after him but they have found out now that theres a new type that they think he had that comes from brain trama, foot ball players and boxers are prown to this kind and any 1 thats had 2 or more concussions is higher risk, my mom came down with this form from a realy bad car reck, so realy lou gehrig is belived now to have the head trama caused als and not the random unexplainable form

  • @whiteboypatrickkelly

My grandma was in a very bad car

accident along with my mom who

lost all her adult teeth and had to

wear dentures so maybe it was not

a random ALS which I thought it was

for my grandma. I was scared my thing

was ALS but it was not.

  • this is really sad. wow.

  • I thought ALS was a older persons illness

Eric is a teenager, he is so young for this

older persons illness. How ofter does ALS

    strike teenagers?

My grandmother had ALS and died of it

I am very sorry you lost your son.

  • Just to inform everyone who has commented on this video.... Eric passed away this morning. I was fortunate enough to know him during this year (reading to him a Star Wars trilogy at his home every week). We need to find a cure fro this disease...

  • my dad had ALS and he passed away last month.. horrible disease I'd say..

  • very sad!

  • oh my god that's sad

  • Thats so terrible. My father just passed away of ALS a few monthes ago, he was 48.

  • sorry to hear about your loss my father also passed away from ALS when i was a senior in high school

  • I read his story, I'm 22, one of the best ages to enjoy life. I'm sorry he had to fight ALS so young, it's so unjust. :(

  • @cmswannaloveu2

My teen and 20s sucked with a illness

I still have today with a wheelchair.

I agree Erick was worse off because

ALS is worse then bad MS.

  • fucking sad there has to be a cure god be with those with als(lou gehrigs disease)

  • We have to find the cure!!!

Some people with ALS can't wait for much time!!

  • My mother died of ALS. She was 67. My God, he's so young. We have to find a cure.

  • Like, he's just a youngster. We need to do something for him. Oh, baby!
