This video has been taken from the spanish version of the TV show (noticed that in the end appears "Perdidos" instead of "Lost") Here, in Spain, there isn't ABC channel but we've got a FOX channel who was the first to emit the show (nowadays the show appears in a public channel called "Cuatro") :)

Michael Giacchino really thumps his percussion and intensifies the melody into like drones, which is why its so powerful and a lot of people seem to get goosebumps and cry at a lot of the scenes.

Yeah, that was definitely a very cool moment, which proves that this show is so well written. It's just a casual nod that people exchange everyday... a nod of mutual respect... little did they know that they would eventually have an adversarial relationship.

This scene is a first class example of Lost at its best. I think its such a great way to end the first season, showing us the way they were before and, with no idea what lies ahead. The bit where lock and jack exchange a smile seems so poignant now knowing that they become such huge rivals. And its so emotional! makes me cry every time.

Not to mention the amazing hatch opening cliffhanger! Bloody brilliant!

I know you wrote this a year ago but I so agree. It's on t.v. right now and after seeing the whole first season for the first time, and then watching this ending where Jack and Locke - lock eyes and acknowledge each other - it's so poignant and it brought tears to my eyes because of not only what I just saw in the first season but what I know of them now that we're in season 5. Love this show!
