  • That's so cool. Steam is still viable!

  • Ölfeuriges Dampflok .

  • Schönes Video und interessante Lokomotive. Daumen hoch!

  • Sehr gute Aufnahmen von der 52 8055.

    Wann war diese Fahrt?

  • Well, in the UK they did recently build a new steam engine from scratch. Search YouTube for the "60163", also search her on Wikipedia.

  • @b43xoit

Do you mean the new build British Tornado with the boiler from Meiningen?

  • @megatwingo Yes, I do refer to the "Tornado".

  • @b43xoit

    A fine engine.

  • Man amazing video!!!! Great performance by DLM! Seems that this engine comes to us in the Netherlands next year for a period of 2 years on some new museum line.

  • How do they keep this engine smokeless?

  • @sgprailfan

Well, easily! the boiler is completely rebuild and with the design changes the combustion area was redisigned and thus airflow and oil fuel burner were set up to common modern standards, making it not anymore wasting fuel (which causes smoke). And the modern furnance, the engine has a awesome boiler performance and will be smokeless.

  • ya know, i honestly didnt think "modern" steam would work so well. I was obviously wrong, esp when I saw this video. I myself wouldnt call it modern steam train, but more refined. It still uses the same principal as the good ole steamers but she's just more refined. Brilliant I say!

  • @WhyAyeMann:

The engine is no a complete new construction, it is only completely refined, at nearly all parts. This is why one have to 'old' look, but it shows which performance a realy new engine might have.

A complete new construction would rather look like a common diesel engine, as like we remember a steamer.

But who has the money to order a new one?

  • Oh I already knew it was just a refined steam engine, as you said it would cost a fortune to make a new one from scratch.

I was just saying its absolutely brilliant to refine one of the old steamers into something like this, although I would miss the smell of coal D:

  • Awesome steam compound and lovely landscape.

    Thanks for share.

    Cheers.
