everybodys sayng there really good, there accually not that good..al they did was memorize a probobly medium level song,(which can be done easily) and added a couple fancy moves. the people I find good, ar ethe ones who play normally, but can above level expert songs

sorry i play in the groove, so im using terms that apply to that, i think medium would be called standard or something on DDR :/

@mirokumasta It's called freestyle. It's a competition, obviously they can play the game on expert if they really want to, but freestyle is more fun. Cause well, you can actually dance. You fail, sir.

You say they "obviously can play expert", how would you know? they could have just got up to medium, and stayed on medium to get good at doing "free style" Its actually more likely, because being a expert requires different skills than "free style"..to be on expert you have to have alot of energy, you need to know how to preserve energy, you have to be able to stay focused on the arrows, and multi task..for "free style" all you have to do is memorize a song.

@mirokumasta I'd have to disagree, Free style and expert are equally skilled, but in there own field. As A free style player, you must know the song, stay in sync with the song, memorize it, and develop a routine, and if its partners, you must rely on them and also create a routine!

An expert player like myself has a different standard. We go on reading the charts, memorizing is no option, preserve energy, must move faster, and know how to have a good stance, also holding the bar is a must.

See, unlike most of the other people on here, you actually made valid points. I just think it takes more "skill" to adapt to songs rather than memorizing them. Im not saying free style isent hard, i just find it a neusance, because when trying to memorize a song, im not having fun..playing normally and having a new challenge every time is what makes it a great game for me.

i hate to say this but, gutar hero killed dance dance revoultion, its true because every time i go to gameworks at sawgrass mills i see more people play the arcade version of gutar hero, and at the same time i look at the row of DDR machines and no one is playing it, although i hate gutar hero, i think the age of DDR Greatness has died, and its all F!@#$ thanks to gutar hero. i am sorry.

I dont think so. Where i am, nobody plays the arcade version of guitar hero, GH is kinda dieing, not many people play it anymore..DDR is HUGELY popular in japan, in canada here, people play it alot aswell.
