All RotoHydramatic Transmissions are 4-Speed Hydramatics that shift once in Low Range. The S gear indicator is 3rd Gear. SO, the mistake most people make is: Hydramatic Division of G.M. considers the Tranny in this car to be a 4-speed trasnmssion. It shifts once in Low range. Pontiac also says it is a 4-speed. Anyone who claims it is a 3-speed Hydramatic is wrong. Gil Younger,(in his book) says the RotoHydramatic is a FOUR SPEED. I believe him and I believe G.M.
You are so right...I had a ride in a brand new convertible, automatic, and yes, it had the vacuum gauge. I was 13 at the time and the guy that owned it would pick me up and take me cruisin' with him...reason being, because of my age, I was a chick magnet...along with his car...learned a lot that summer...yessir I did...
@starchief59 -- hello, yup, vacuum gauge was stock on all autos and mounted on center console but a 'sweep' tach like the vac gauge was an available option on tri-power 389 and 421's. it was mounted on upper left corner of dash.

Not a factory tach, only stick cars came with tachs. Factory would be a vacuum gauge. Very nice car though

@fxe1979 They didn't make a GP convert in 62 but I'm pretty sure all the autos with consoles were vacuum gauges
