Were Haendel alive, he would surely secure an injunction against this performance. Not only is it ridiculous, it obfuscates the original message with pyrotechnic emotion worthy of professional wrestling.
This would be a good wa to bring Handel to a new generation, but it is too overdone, tht's the problem which happens many times when making something more rocky, it's TOO rocky....
I really like this version. The only problem I have is the audience was not standing in the beginning of the song. When Handel wrote this and presented it, people stood in awe and reverence from the beginning of the song. Audiences since then have always stood during this song.
@bcraig927 They stood because the king stood so it was customary to stand when the king was standing. Since then it has been tradition to stand. That's why they stood.
@deeterjm I was just talking to a friend of mine who was equally disgusted with Messaiah Rocks .... here's the thing.. if you don't like it, don't listen to it. Don't knock it. If it's that bad, go listen to an original recording.
Hi Livin...90: MiG did a solo album a couple of years ago on Universal Records I think. There is also a CD available this October of Handel's Messiah Rocks starring MiG that you can get at Amazon or itunes from Integrity Music...
