  • How do you connect it to your thing tv or something like computer

  • i dont understand how to set up... i enabled it and connected my ipod with da official apple cable to my screen but doesnt work... any help?

  • @broofthecentury

What iPod generation do you have?

  • hehehe :) I fixed the problem I was having. (phew) I feel like a genius

  • @misfecool

Care to post how so we can help others ? :D Thx.

  • my display out doesn't work :'( I don't know if its the cable or display out thats having the problem. but I'm sure its display out.display out keeps telling me disconnected, and then connected. how do u think I can fix this?

  • @misfecool What device do you have and what version of iOS are u running?

  • @surgeyX I use Ipod touch 4g and I have version 5.0

  • @misfecool

I haven't up'd to iOS 5 yet so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Sorry..

You can check with the guy who makes the app. His name is Ryan Petrich and his twitter user name is "rpetrich" - as long as you bought the app legit from the Cydia store and didn't steal it, he should be able to help you out. Also I'm reading that "unofficial" cables (ie. not made by apple) are flaky and may require the software package "Resupported4" - it has a free trial. Hope this helps.

  • This does not work on my samsung tv. How to make it work on samsung tv without computer

  • i just want to know why the official cables no longer work?

  • @SSTGproductions

? Mine works just fine. On both my ipad and my iphone 4 (verizon).

  • It's always VGA or hdmi, good job @ explaining technique. seems to be insightful .

  • @brokenxpieces

    WEIRDO

  • @sot20thc

    Warez is bad.

  • I love this app, I have like a little mini desktop with my iPod Touch 4g 4.3.1 with a monitor, speakers, and keyboard. The only gripe I have is that it cant display out Real Racing 2, and that was one of the main reason why got this, but everything else mirrors out perfectly. I even use iDisplay from the App Store to extend my desktop to 3 monitors.

  • @XxChewytoxX

Do you live near an Apple retail store or a best buy? If so, you can either get the VGA out dongle or the HDMI dongle -- i think they're around 30$ or so. Both of them are official Apple made products and will work on the iPad 1 and iPad 2 (and the iPhone 4 \ iPod touch 4g) -- the only difference is the iPad 2 has display mirroring built in, where as the iPad 1 requires you to jailbreak and get the DisplayOut app to do mirroring. Google search for iPad VGA or HDMI dongle.

  • @XxChewytoxX

Read the video description dude -- it's using the VGA dongle that Apple sells.

  • This app require Cable To plug in to Computer or Like Air play

  • @pozzdonnz

    Didn't 3 other ppl ask that? :D

You need the dongle \ cable.

And I don't think AirPlay works like that, I think AirPlay is the other way around but I could be mistaken.

  • Do you need the HDMI thing? or is this wirelessly

  • @godBrotherX

You need either the VGA dongle or the HDMI dongle. It's not wirelessly. I suppose you could use WiDi, but you'd still need the dongle + another dongle on your TV :P

  • How's the quality if the video?

  • lmao at eh comment can't you people see the man said he had an ipad. tvout2 works okay as well.

  • Thanks for the vid

  • Hey man! Cool video!

I have a question, I'll start by stating that i have and jailbroken iPad (first-gen)

if i buy the the vga adapter (cable) what is it that the iPad doesn't do normally as opposed to when I install this app?

Thank you for your time! I only ask this because I thought the iPad did this by default after being connected with the cable

  • @billypuntove

The iPad does NOT do this by default. Certain apps have the ability to output video over the VGA cable...it's an app thing. The entire OS does not have screen mirroring built in. Display Out enables screen mirroring for the entire OS no matter what app you're using and home screen \ safari \ etc. The iPad 2 is different -- they put this feature in by default and will not put it in the iPad 1st gen (fucking apple). FYI this also works with the HDMI adapter Apple just released

  • @surgeyX ooh ok!!! I see now. Thank you for the prompt repsponse, man!

  • with this cydia app can youstream from safari on the iphone from a website and will it show on the tv?

  • how do i get it to show up on the computer though?!

  • What's the stuff in your status bar. How do you get it?

  • @HMCreviews

It's a program called SBSettings -- search for it in Cydia.

When it reboots swipe from left to right with your finger on the wifi icon and it will bring up a menu.

  • FART! 3:12

  • @StKetoiL

It was me moving the ipad dock, lol.

  • ok, i hooked up my ipod to the computer, turned display out on, and.....nothing, what am i doing wrong? i cant see anything but my normal computer screen. is there something special that you have to download on your computer to be able to use display out?

  • @TheHammerhead98

Hey man -- I don't want to sound mean, but this is the last time I'm going to say this.

I DON'T HAVE AN iPOD. I HAVE AN IPAD. I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE IPOD (WHATEVER GENERATION) SUPPORTS THE VGA CABLE. I don't know this for sure - but I believe only the LATEST iPod supports the VGA cable. I could be wrong though -- cause like I said -- I don't know fucking SHIT about the iPod becuase I DON'T HAVE ONE!

  • @TheHammerhead98 You need to have the VGA Cable. Duh! And hook it up to a monitor, NOT the computer itself!

  • no- is not the "obvious" solution, because with unofficial and cheap cables and free soft now I am watching videos -from my iphone- to TV and Monitors in DV high quality- May be are people happy to know my post.

  • DispalyOut (paid) doesn't work with unofficial cables with iphone 4.x, ipod, ipad , flickering is unavoidable when mirroring the display, however wroks OK with ScreenSplitr (free)

  • @venditainitalia

Official cables? It's like 20 dollars dude. Why would you want to buy a knockoff cable?

And flickering? That's bullshit. I'm going to upload another video testing it on my new samsung 40" LED tv that I just got to prove you wrong.

  • dear @surgeyX, 1) I've iphone with firmware 4.x, with unofficial apple cables (cables 5€), I paid Displayout 2,99u$s by Cydia. I tried to watch videos from Iphone to TV and was flickered every 5 seconds, after that I downloaded Resupported4 (as Author Displayout suggest) and neither. Flickering videos. So, I lfound other soft (free), and it was working OK. It is my experiences with Displayout with Iphone.

  • @venditainitalia So the obvious solution here is obvious -- DON'T BUY AN KNOCKOFF CABLE!

  • DispalyOut (paid) doesn't work with unofficial cables with iphone 4.x, ipod, ipad , flickering is unavoidable when mirroring the display, however wroks OK with ScreenSplitr (free)

  • do the VGA Display adapter work for ipad, or phone?

  • @Simonthecool

I don't have an iphone so I couldn't tell you. I only have an iPad and I can only verify that it works on the iPad.

From what I have read on forums, the VGA adapter only works on the iPhone 4, and the latest generation iPod touch -- but I could be wrong. I would check google and some forums -- but you can always return the adapter if it doesn't work. Best buy has a generous return policy now since it's the holidays :)

  • @surgeyX Is there any Adapters that works for ipod touch 3rd gen or iphone 3gs?

  • @Simonthecool

I don't want to sound like a dick bro -- but how the F should I know? :P

Again, I only have an iPad -- no other apple products. Google is your friend! :)

  • @surgeyX hehe :) But thanks anyway.

  • is the audio coming out of the TV or the iPad when you play videos?

oh and is that an Apple VGA or some other brand? im planning to get one for my iphone.

  • @FOkYLE

The iPad -- If I wanted it to come out of my TV's speakers I would have to connect the AUX cable from the iPad dock to my TV's AUX input. And yes, it's the Apple VGA connector -- I got it from Best Buy.

  • i downloaded this for my ipt2g and it says enabled in SBSettings but how do i make the screen show on my computer???

  • @KillaKidxX5342

Did you purchase the VGA cable? I'm not sure the ipod has vga output.

AFAIK the cable only works on the ipad and maybe the iphone 4.

I can't verify that the iphone 4 works though because I dont own one...all I own is the iPad.

  • @surgeyX hmm i was under the impression that you conect your device to your computer via USB cable and BOOM you have a mirrored screen on the computer :(

  • @KillaKidxX5342

No -- the iPad dock connector has VGA output but you need to buy the adapter from Apple. USB has nothing to do with it. If you want to mirror the iphone or whatevers screen on your computer, you can use veency.

  • U r the coolest.. I first saw this video and I was a happy mofo!

  • Are you able to play an app like AT BAT to watch a live baseball game on TV?

  • @margo33

    Yes, all the games work.

  • @surgeyX: I have the same setup as you, my question is...if you're playin videos from your Videos library, does the video quality lag at all with DisplayOut enabled? becuz mine does very much. Is your VGA cable standard or did you buy a pretty decent VGA? Thanks.

  • @xpradaGx

I just got the VGA cable from best buy...its pretty standard I guess?

    No lag with me.

  • What monitor are you using? Also, is it a component or composite cable connection

  • @micnation

    VGA cable...samsung monitor.

  • Yes... The problem I'm having is I can only see have the iPad screen on my tv

  • @harryrai22

Try adjusting the resolution and scaling

  • This doesn't work for my 53" Sony tv

  • @harryrai22

Hmm...why not? Does the TV have a VGA port?

  • i bought it and when its suppose to say confirm it says " The requested modifications cannot be applied due to required dependencies or conflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed." any help?

  • @maps4890

Hmm...Not sure, I've done it twice so far (had to get a new ipad cause the first one had a hardware problem) and I've never had that issue. I assume you used spirit to jailbreak? Try emailing the developer and see what he says.

  • @surgeyX Hey man, buy the BookArc for iPad thats a great stand would work pretty well with this.

  • @Holmes093

I agree...I kind of like the bookarc better than apple's useless dock that can only be used in portrait mode.

  • @surgeyX Yh so much better and did u know if you jailbreak your iPad you can now use the apple magic mouse alongside the keyboard; means you dont have to be next to your iPad

  • @surgeyX I figured it out. i realised many people have had this problem. the way to fix it is rejailbreak your ipad. So restore the ipad to factory settings then jailbreak again. yes you will lose all cracked apps. This is because i had an older version of CYDIA.

  • @maps4890

Very strange...I used the spirit jailbreak when it originally came out, and cydia should be able to auto update itself...oh wel...I'm glad you got it working!
