What people are failing to realize is that the guy couldve took a knee, he decided to stay in there and fight with james. People get knocked out in sparring practice all the time. Yes ann should have stopped it, but the guy couldve stopped it himself. Pacquiao have knocked down some of his sparring partners and Marquez knocked his sparring partner down in the last HBO series on him and Pacquiao. These guys are getting paid to spar with them. If they cant handle the job dont do it.

You want a fighter to keep up the aggression, but if you get a fighter into the mode that guys are gonna lay down (by letting him pound out a tired and out fighter) then you're setting him up for failure when the likes of Sergio Martinez walks in there. But his standing is 49th now, so a fight with Sergio for the title isn't even on the horizon right now, but still. I'd like his footwork to develop. It's a glaring weak spot at the top level. I don't see him top 5 without improving his technique.
The guy James fought has tremendous heart. Nothing but the utmost respect to him. As a boxing fan, and someone who has studied the game in depth. I can tell you, this isn't sparring. If it's this much of a discrepancy and you want one fighter to keep up the aggression, you switch the opponents out. This is the kind of "sparring" that halts fighters progression. And why James is at a high level, but not technically good enough to ever be "the champ". Especially now after being KO'ed in 1st rd.
