RA Sucks

Hey! Ok weird question but does anyone know of any professional dancers with RA??? Im training as a dancer in london and 4months ago got diagnosed. Obviously it sucks and the career Ive choosen isnt ideal but ive decided to go for it anyway. Not many people understand how painful RA is, for those who do imagine physically training in a studio from 7am til 6pm everyday! Im looking for some inspiration, its tough but Im hoping that its worth it, is there anyone whos achieved this before?

i agree RA SUCKS! hang in there. although everyday is a battle you will get through it one day at a time and sometimes one minute at a time. prayers your way!

Change your water. Ionized water. My favorite 'quality' of this water is Kangen. It's probably right in your neighborhood....I think I can locate someone that will let you try it...won't cost you. I'm an old 'gurl' of 64 and it hurts me to see you in such discomfort. It doesn't have to be that way. You'll look back on this experience someday and smile. Change your water, a.s.a.p. please. U'll be getting rid of the acid...major relief Lyzette, I promise.

hi there im natasha i live in the UK i also have RA it is a horable horable thing to have i am on methotrexate tho i am on the tablet form. ni hate it it makes me dizzy and hot and also it makes me feel like spewing and food tastes weard ....tho nobody beleves this ( i dont meen the doctors i meen friends and family) there always like tasha you should eat that or tasha please wear a coat !! i have had athritis for 5 years i was 15 when i was diagnosed and im 21 now. i realy hope we can chat xx

Methotrexate makes me feel horrible. In higher doses it makes my heart beat faster and makes me feel really angry. It also gives me acne. It's a fun drug.

Try and keep positive :/ Even though i know how you're feeling. Stupid methotrexate. Even though it's probabally done so much good. It causes so many other problems. Doctors, don't even get me started!

the exact same thing happened to me with increased methotrexate injections..i thought i was dying..couldn't breathe, felt like someone was stabbing me. i also thought i must be crazy. i don't know about the 'quality' of life factor anymore. i get so sad about being in so much pain, but anti depressants are NOT the answer...they do absolutely nothing. I believe the pain is the underlying issue here

OMG!!!! UR ME!!! Every word you say is like taking words out of my mouth. I was just diagnosed with ra 3 months ago. Im looking into water therapy. At my local "Y" they offer water excercise classes for ppl with ra and any other form of arthritis. I understand about the pain!!!! Im praying for you

Water therapy is a great idea. It helps me out a bunch. I joined the LAfitness and do the water aerobics and sometimes I just walk in the pool and it feels great on my joints. If you ever need to talk, please feel free to contact me.

I so wish I was there with you. I would be driving you to that Dr. and sitting in his office until he saw you!

My Rheum. is really good, she is spread a little thin, BUT I've never had an issues with getting in touch with her. I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to returned calls. My time is important, DO NOT make me call back a second time! I think you RA should have called you back within a couple of hours TOPS! You need to find one who is more compassionate to your needs! I'm worried about you. Is there any way you can dump your rheumatologist and get another one? Can you go to your PCP's office to avoid the crazy expense of the ER?

(((hugs))) 2 of my sisters were diagnosed with RA. One has passed from an unrelated disorder. The other has suffered beyond belief. It breaks my heart. She likes her rhuematologist, but the office staff makes her nuts. I am so very sorry you are having a difficult time. My sister feels like an addict even though she isn't. She is on remicad (sp?), BTW, but she hasn't had much improvement yet. I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. It sucks!!! take care - jenn

Lyzette, I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I have heard stories of people like you with bone pain and other pains. I heard some people try alternative medicine and for some people it works. Have you thought about it? I am not a medicine alternative supporter for eveything but some somethings it does work. It's a combination of factors. I hope you feel better my dear. Take care.

Oh Lyzette,

I'm so sorry for your pain and frustration. I understand the RA pain on such a personal level as I've explained to you privately...just try not to push yourself too hard, but at the same time, increase stretches and range of motion exercises and walk when you can to help push off stiffness. Hot soaks and heat...you know the drill, but I encourage you to treat yourself kindly until this flare subsides. Good luck with the docs...

2)My 4. attempt to post 2. part of my comment. YT kept cutting me off due to maintenance. I cannot believe the doctors doesn`t take- or feels some responsibility when you`re having that kind of pain! The symptoms you are describing, apart from your RA, are the same symptoms and pain my brother had when he had a heart attack... It`s a good thing that you`re angry, it makes me mad too! Being sent from one doc to an other is so frustrating when you are sick. Hope you get help and relieve soon!

1) I`m so sorry to hear about your severe pain and at the same time having to deal with stupid doctors! I can relate. The muscle relaxer that`s been my "lifesaver" for over 20 years have been taken off the marked here now. And it makes me sooo afraid of what awaits me in the future, once I`m out of pills... It makes me concider migrating to the USA! It`s a fact, many doctors are studpid, lack empathy and believe they know everything.
