this happens because of the crap capasiters on the board, thats the problems. they overheat and pop. leaking some kind of fluid and smoke. im in the prosses of changing my compasiters out with some new ones.

Heard a pop, followed by the smell of burning plastic, then the picture started to dim and thats when the smoke started to bail out :(

i have a samsung 42 inch and for 2 years it gave no problems ...now the tv has a problem,i will never buy a samsung until they fix the turning on and off fault .

samsung use cheap parts,buy a panasonic or a sony bravia...i have now brought a panasonic 42 inch plasma very good tv...................

I don't have to worry about it for 4 years though, i got a 4 year bestbuy protection plan. Sometimes i get the protection plan. Who know's I maybe not a have a problem with it, don;t know. I know it has a great sound system. My old tv is a 27" RCA and it stil works like new, had it for about 9 years.

can iask do you know what happend to this tv you didnt spill liquid on it did you do you have it plugged into a grounded wall outlet somtimes there iso nly 2 wires goign to a 3 prong outlet but you have to have 3 wires one being a ground when a hitech tv is not ground or anything electric it can cause spasims of power to flow thru the tv at wrong voltages and cause circuits to fry out and make sure you not expsoing the tv to direct sunlight specialy in the summer or anytime of the year
