i will say this of the waffen ss. i heard it said once about the soldiers of the waffen ss

that" no greater soldier fought for a worse cause". the were the best germany had to offer and despite what they stood for i have a high degree of respect for their abilities as fighting men. no soldier was more loyal to their cause than the waffen ss.

The Russians had "General Winter, General Snow and General Mud "on their side. The Russian Army had to only delay the French and the German invaders till these great generals took charge and wiped them out.

And they almost did. If Hitler had let his generals run the war instead of micro-managing it and letting his ego dictate strategy there would be no "Russia" today. Nor would there be a "Russia" without vast numbers of American tanks and aircraft. Russia came to within a hair's breadth of defeat even with Hitler's incompetent leadership and all that American hardware. Imagine if Hitler had invaded Eastward instead of Westward! Much of the West was already sympathetic to the Nazis.
