'i heard you have a compilation. of every good song, ever done, by anybody' You gotta love that stone cold delivery. thanks to stanton warriors for giving LCD to me
He's got such an underground sound and unique... Everything that it kinda shows how deprived of good music the mainstream really is, I somehow found LCD just a few months ago and I've been hooked since and it's been here for years
can't believe this song came out in 2002 and I just heard this for first time in 2010. My friends are useless musically. this pisses me off =(. I like the spanish version of this song on youtube. its shows the album covers of all the bands mentioned.
I hate hipsters. I'm 35 years old and I listen to French electro, 80's new wave, and Vangelis. I'm a self-loathing hipster.... or a contrarian asshole.
I love the way the kids who are taking his edge away (he actually likes cuz they are Really Really nice) and the first one playing Daft Punk at CBGB's and squeezing the slits in there-
Bless, no, on either count - should I be? Aging is rather inevitable - at least if you survive long enough. But I am slightly surprised to find I'm older than LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy, given his appearance, and some of the stuff he's talking about in this tune . . . How about you?
I am all up for the nerdy, weird and awkward stage presence of people such as david byrne, but don't you think this guy is a little too awkward. I mean, i don't know if this is an act or not, but it doesn't matter...I actually believe too much that he hasno idea what he is doing, whic sometimes accompanies the akwardly placed lyrics. Is this a purposful 'revolutionary' musical change, or just a mirror of some guys favourite old 80's bands?....
Neither. This is the anthem of aging hipsters. Reflecting on the stages of rock and roll that brought us to where we are today. This song is for everyone who was there through all of the important events which are now only seen in obscure rock and roll documentaries. LCD Soundsystem does a great job at capturing what made so many bands in the past great.

"But I'm losing my edge to better-looking people with better ideas and more talent.
And they're actually really, really nice."
LMAO
Now these are what I call great name drops.
If LCD Soundsystem were a woman, I'd be having sweaty sex with her on the dance floor.

If you're going to drop names, make 'em good ones - or in this case, some GREAT ones.
We MAY be aging hipsters, but we're STILL hipsters, and we've been a long time waiting for such a pedigreed, ironic, credible anthem.
If you don't 'get' this, you're either too young (no sin) or were just never there at all (how sad)
"I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables.

The mention of Captain Beefheart is the best one of all since so few know who he is, and how he says he told them not to do it that way :P
