  • the safety factor on these small locos is enormous. No it will not explode. The worst that could happen would be a sudden loss of steam, such as for instance if the water gauge glass were to burst.

  • Might it explode ??

  • IT looks real with many green plants lol nice lol.

  • Lose that guy! He's just standing there and not doing anything. Oh you Brits and your Labour rules!

  • nice railway.

looks very realy with so many green .... i loike it.

  • It is 32mm gauge

  • Always liked this video...feels like you're watching it from a garden gnome's perspective. Is that 45mm or 32mm gauge?

  • @shaygetz1960 - 32mm gauge

  • So i was riding the train the other day. And the craziest thing happened! This giant hand came out of nowhere and started messing with the engine!

  • Why did the train stop at the last part?

    Out of coal?

    not enough steam?

  • @farouqleftback The fire had died right down so steam pressure was too low to keep running.

  • @quothick does this happen frequently with this loco?

  • @neverboardproduction - well yes if you don't pay attention and keep firing little and often the fire dies.

  • awesome video love the camera angle!

  • I've always amired this engine and your line Dave. Are there any drawings available for the "frog"? Did you get the smuts and the oil off the raspberries in the end ?? lol

  • This is a fantastic video. Great angle, neat track setup (through the overhanging plants and all). I bet this engine smells awesome to run. I hope to someday get a coal fired loco for my pike. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • where can i buy one of these?

  • I doubt you could buy one just like this. You can get coal fired locos in this scale from DJB Engineering, from John Shaw and I have heard that someone from around this area (the English Midalnds) is thinking of settng up in business to make and sell coal fired steam locomotives in this scale.

  • Nice bellydancing at the end :o)

  • i think the engineers been down at the bar. Hes hauling ass

  • The scenary surrounding your line is most impressive! One really gets the feeling of a miniature landscape when riding! Are there any tips you ccould offer?

  • Select small leaved perennial plants where possible and then let nature do the rest. Sedums, saxifrages, heathers and dwarf conifers are good. Also small cotoneasters and lonicera nitrida. I have to hack the plants back every few weeks in the summer. I have a home made wagon with side mounted strimmer which helps.

  • What an interesting family and locomotive collection ( wait, youv'e got most varients of locos, gas fired, meths fired, coal fired, battery and of course live diesel).

  • Still no overhead or third rail electric though.

  • This is freaking awesome well done m8 your amazing

  • booma thats well cool

  • Reminds me of the Indiana Jones movie with the runaway mine car. Love the belly dancer at the end. Very nicely done.

  • Magnifico, espetacular, parabéns pela criatividade.

  • This is an inspiring video. You have done a wonderful job of blending the railway into the garden. Thank you for sharing.

  • is it hard to fire?

  • being very small it is not exactly heavy work but it is demanding. For instance if you stop the engine you must turn the blower on immediately or the fire goes out. Leaving the fire door open is also a disater as the fire ceases to draw and incoming cold air chills the boiler. Nonetheless it is a rewarding experience when you get it right.

  • did you make this from scratch or did you buy it asd a kit,if you bought it as a kit were did you buy it from and whats there web sit

    thank you

  • he made it from scratch

  • Watching that was like a Disney Land ride. A neat little loco on a fairytale like RR.

  • wow cool engine. its pretty small too.

  • wat scale is it eg:00,g scale etc

  • It is 16mm/1ft scale (1:19) running on 32mm (1.25") gauge track (O gauge). Usually called 16mm scale.

  • Well made loco, and good runner. Nice network in jungle garden. Witty video. Best congratulations.

  • is this in america or england?

  • It is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

  • That is just too cool. I love the over grown look of the track. Excellent work.

  • How do start a fire in something that small?

  • Either by starting with small lumps of charcoal soaked in barbeque lighting fluid or by pointing a small gas torch through the fire door. Either way it needs a forced draft until steam pressure is raised. Like the model engineering size miniature railways I use a smll electric fan on top of the chimney .

  • what gauge is it?

  • Track gauge is 32mm (1.25"). Scale 16mm to the foot as it is a model of a 2 foot gauge locomotive.

  • "SIR! WE ARE BEING ATTACKED!"

    "By what?"

    "A GIANT HAND!!!"

  • I liked the effect of the camera being like you were a miniature item and this giant hand was making the train go!

  • can it pull you or are you walking along beside it, great train like it very much!!

  • The loco is very small but big enough to pull a video camera on a flat truck.

  • I WANT ONE!

  • Then you need to learn a lot about theme maintenence and cleaning and USE DISTILLED WATER ONLY FOR!

  • I hope one day, chatting with you personally, and hopefully that will be formed any group of fans steamed live in argentina. Not more annoying, jaja ;) BEST RAGERS From Argentina!!

  • Maybe, just maybe, I may get to visit Argentina again.

  • nitromethano = annmncal ;)

I am 16 years old, and since I have memory (very small), I like trains and the entire machine steam. Although, I can not believe to be talking to you, so many times I visited your site wed again and again. One of my last projects was to build a boiler bagnal, including maps you used. But something bigger. And, since my friend turner, had health problems, almost no time to dedicate live steam.

  • (Sorry for my bad English) I presented. My name is Leandro de Buenos Aires, Argentina. And what hurts, I am like, no time. And I do not have enough tools, but use the know, but I am not served at all.

  • you make to mi?

  • Sorry - no. I build for my own interest not for sale. I built this loco a few years ago. These days I don't have the leisure time to build another.

  • is perfect..

How much I cost, if make one equal to mi?

  • I enjoyed the trip around your layout. The dense vegetation gives it a feel fitting for this little locomotive.

And, yes, the ending was a bit unexpected, but interesting.

  • wow thats cool very strange ending

  • wow it can pull you

  • Nice little engine on a lovely garden railway, they have a similar engine but on a larger scale at the narrow gauge railway in Launceston,Cornwall

  • strange ending!

  • I had a theory that no one ever watched to the very end of a Youtube vidoe clip. I have been proved wrong.

  • You can be sure that more people are going to watch to the end now :-)

  • those things are 1000-3000 pounds

  • its a very expensive hobby

  • or £50 if you build it your self, as this guy did

  • wow i didnt think they would be that cheap

  • depends on what it is, who makes it, or if you even make it yourself.

accucraft do the cheapest locos at good prices, roundhouse do nice loco that are better but more expensive but british made.

  • very nice!!

it looks like a jungle railroad

  • nice steem loco! way cool 5 stars!

  • nice vid!! 5 stars!

  • looks like you're a real passenger on board.... cool!

  • wow good job !!

  • whats the frog

  • Reciprocating motion at both ends with a nice interlude of lettuces and berries. This is highly entertaining and clever as well. Thanks!

  • ok thanks any way!!

  • quothick is there any way you could send me the design please? as it is a bueatifull train :d

  • I didn't make real working drawings. What I have is more in the way of back of an envelope sketches.

  • how mcuh for one of these?

  • see previous response 2 months ago to nahm807

  • Wow, that last part was REALLY random lol

  • I had this theory that no-one ever watched to the very end of a Youtube clip. You have proved me wrong.

  • Two words-Amazing,fantastic

  • Grade "A" run of your train, I really liked it thank-you so much for posting it!

  • nice!!! how much did it cost you ????

  • Materials to build it, probably less than £50. Time to design and build is another thing entirely.

  • Found your web site and thought it was great I have learned alot from it. Thanks

  • Nice loco is it a home build,If not were can I get one or the plans for one?, A very nice runner

  • Yes, it is ahome build. It is based on "Isabel", an 1895 Bagnall saddle tank which runs on the Amerton Railway. I made no real drawings, but I did post some sketches on my web site. Youtube stops me posting the URL
