wow, i hadn't heard this since i played it in high school band camp at UT (Texas)... back in the 90's ;-) I remembered it was a very tricky piece, esp. all those rests waiting for the whip!!
Amazing. I havent seen or heard this in 27 years since seeing it at the Royal festival Hall at a Robert Mayer concert for children, Great energy & fun.

i like how they give the fast orchestral part at 7:02 and 7:31 to the Euphonium in the concert band one. i guess i have to learn it. :P

The trombone solos are hard XD but it's really nice to play them ^^
I love the bassoons part.
And that's the first time I like to hear a piccollo :) Great job to Arnold !

this songs better if you have actually heard/ read tam O'Shanter-Robert Burns, makes it easier to fit the story to the music

this would be total rubish if by any other composer, but somehow Arnold's brilliance with the orchestra makes it work.

Doing this at the Liverpool Phil next weekend

I will see you there (also on first clarinet). I'll definitely join you for a biscuit and tea - this is not one I am looking forward to!

I have always loved the works of Sir Malcolm Arnold, the overture here is well played, the conductor is great...
