  • there is mupen 64 for n64 emulator on linux, and an emulator for Nintendo DS .. wich name i forgot.

  • i think you're thinking of desmume

  • Exatly =)

  • I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and I have installed PoPWW, but the it doesn't works right. The intro vids appears but on what should be the login screen, everything goes black. After sometime the game stops responding? do you had some bug like this one?

  • you forgot to mention impressive frame rate with super mario...

anyway i stoped using windows once for all so i guess i will have to use this.

  • linux is better then windows . Open GL is way better then DX . Pc gaming would be much cheaper if we could just game on UbuntU over windows.

  • so true

  • WinE

    WinEmulator d o w s

  • its not a emulator though

  • -W- ine -I- s

    -N- ot an

    -E- mulator

  • lol, using cheats¬¬

  • Why did crytek (for example) and other game dev's choose the required operating system to be windows in the first place and not just make it compatible with ubuntu and other linux OS's. Then people would not even have to create fake windows environments to run games :(

  • cause unfortunately, Microsoft has the biggest market share and Crytek wants to make as much money as possible. Making the game for more then one OS would cost Crytek to much money, they maybe millionaires but there still tight arses

  • @xxsniperx7

Another reason is, to run .exe files you need a certain license, which Linux does not have.

  • Can someone try to install ubuntu on PS3 and then using wine to play Crysis and see how it works? is it possible? I run office 2007 using wine.

  • PS3 is powerPC prcessor not x86 or x64. IT is impossible to run any x86 or x64 apps on that unless using x86 emulator which is 100 times slower :/

  • Indeed. The PS3 uses its own processor. It is VERY powerful though.

  • could you run tiger on it? with custom kexts obviously?

  • PPC ≠ x86

    So, no.

  • I Just Got Ubuntu And Wine On Me Old Windows XP, And Every things Running Smoother And Better With HL2 Then It Was On The XP.

  • i have one question .. can you play for example oblivion in fullscreen on wine or another windowsemulator-thingy on ubuntu? ^^

  • Wine

    Is

    Not

    Emulator

  • yay.. Thanx 4 answering my question... For u who didnt understand the question heres a new formulation...

"Can you play games (4 example oblivion) in fullscreen with wine?"

  • yeah, games run fullscreen on Wine

  • WINE = Fake windows enviroment.

  • Yes, Of Corse

  • thanx^^

  • there's no error in oblivion the water is really like that even in ps3 or 360!!!

  • howd u get wine to.....see ur grafics card, cause i have a Geforce 7800 GT OS and some of my games have missings images, screens, sounds, and effects

  • xD...

  • Doesn't UT have a native linux version? Do you have a purpose of running it under wine, aside from testing?

  • test crysis on wine

  • He did (1:47 - 2:55)

  • damn man that was the shit, keep testing games cuz i got alot of game i want to play using wine lol i just got a asus silent 9600GT and ubuntu is loving it lol i can run all effects and watch movies at the same time so now the gaming begins.

  • Feel free to see some of my videos, I have videos of Team Fortress 2, Company of Heroes etc. :)

  • I'm not really that keen on WINE... I can never seem to get anything running on it well. I think there's still a lot of improvements that could be made.

So would you say that 1.1.2 is the best version to get for gaming?

    Thanks,

    Jam
