  • I absolutely agree on the alcohol issues, it should not be marketed as much as it is. Some people never learn to handle alcohol, and if its so readily available their problems get worse

  • .....yes i know :P

  • Russia died from communism and the population is falling

  • @NeonLyfe yeah and thats the fault of america :P america destroyes everything xD

  • И остановки только у пивных ларьков

  • Thank you for the brilliant videos my friend! I emigrated from Russia to the US in Feb. 1991 @ age 10. Thank God I got out then & didn't have to grow up witnessing the destruction of the moral fibers of Russian society

  • унылое говно

  • how are the women in russia compared to american women?

  • @lilguy1171 drunk

  • @schmendriks i like that :)

  • @lilguy1171

Depends what you mean by "American women"

If you live in the U.S. you should know that here we have all the flavors and models!

Caucasians, blacks, Indian, mestiza (mixed), European, Asians, Spanish, English...

Hey, I guess it's true when they say that this land is completely made by immigrants!

  • @bcta302 yes but im fed up with the western additude that western women have

  • the author seems to be russian who lives in canada

  • wow the metaphor with the chocolate is so true! >_<

  • about beer on bus stations you are right, such marketing piss me off

  • The alcohol consumption is due to the low moral because of not only Chernobyl but also due to the living conditions(which have improved) but the biggest problem with Russia according to my textbooks is that Russia is actually declining in population. If you can clean up Chernobyl and get more attraction to come to Russia then you will find that the alcohol consumption will at first increase but over time start to decrease then Russia has the potential to return to a super power.

  • @DragonsSpark01 you should learn more to judje- how can Russians clean up Chernobyl if it is not in Russia? Chernobyl is in Ukraine...so it is impossible even to understand you - what the connection of Chernobyl to Russian drinking habbits. Population is declining all over Europe - France, Sweden etc - it is sustained only by immigration influx - my post is about whining by this man - he immigrated from Russia and need to prove himselve how awesome he is - as for problems-they exist...

  • @DragonsSpark01 you have no idea how wrong you are on what you just've said

  • as it is proved already 50% of Russians got genes from Tatars which hamper digestion or decomposition of alcohol - as a result the same amount of alcohol consumed by a Wesyerner and a Russian give different effect - Tatars (who gave this gene) are muslims and so do not drink at all - so this whining about alcoholism in Russia is the same as whining about the fact that we all die after 80...the same problem is with inuits for ex. - it is genetic condition , not matter for such political talk

  • where do you live dude?

  • There was an article in the Energy Bulletin that talks about the drop in Russian birthrate and Eastern Europe in general:

'An uneven collapse (Hint: It's already happening) by by Kurt Cobb' apparently it's a sign of a collapse the author contends.

  • Wow, I found that shocking. I thought that the west had bad alcohol problems, but alcohol available at every bus stop, are there vending machines for people to buy from, that's terrible. I hope that idea never catches on around the world.

I understand what you mean about the subliminal messages it's putting out to have it so readily available & side by side with food. I always thought it was a big mistake to sell liquer in shops, other that pubs, sales should be restricted

  • the way you kept talking about drunks and repeating your self i thought you were drinking

  • This was very interesting. I am a big reader of Tom Clancy and what you say dovetails into his books on Russia nicely...thanks

  • Substance abuse has become a major growing problem in the modern world!

  • Serguei, there is nothing wrong with anything such as alcohol as long as it is used for what it is meant for, and in moderation. The problems come when people abuse those God given medicines, substances, and activities. Here in the US, as you pointed out, advertisements are very effective, we have problems with obesity, alcoholism, sexual addiction, drug addiction, and any other vice you can find in Russia. The main enemy here then is the love of money, and not of one's fellow man, and God.

  • Still they have security in food stores??

  • Makes me think about how the Super Markets (Grocery Stores) here in the States now carry alcohol. At first it seemed like a good idea, but after listening to Serguei and the situation in Russia makes me rethink the issue and how to vote for this in the future.

  • do you drink alcohol Serguei?

  • This was a very good video. I look forward to watching the rest of the series.

  • Please follow through on your plan to fully discuss the situation regarding children in Russia.

  • Great disclosure and I hope you do the follow up you mentioned.

The alcohol in the US is always seperated into its own section.

  • Humans are the only species that will deliberately poison themselves btw.

    Figure that one out.

Not even a dog will touch vodka.

  • The reason you cant rationalize with drunks is this:

Their reasons for drinking have nothing to do with rationality.

  • I understand the drinking problem. I have family in Poland and the situation in many smaller cities is quite similar. Alcohol is relatively cheap and abundant, and the main problem I think it that people don't see it as a problem, the alcoholics that is. For them getting trashed on a Wednesday afternoon is normal. But recently, especially in big cities like Warsaw there has been a pretty big crackdown on public drunkeness especially drunk driving.

  • Is that bad the situation on Rusia?

  • Cool

  • I see what you're saying, man. I've gotta say, it's hard for me not to grab those bags of chips rather than something like... a fruit or vegetable. :/ Not to meantion fast food. Americans are horrible about that. ^^; Fast food is... not as bad as alcohol, though... that is a pity.

  • In the state of Virginia and North Carolina where I am from we have state controled sale of strong alcohol, it is the same here in Sweden, its not such a big limit to your freedom, It is just one way people can chose to protect themselves from some of the effects of alcohol abuse that have a been a problem historically

  • Looking forward to hearing more about this trip - I have Russian and Ukrainian ancestry, so I'm curious to hear more about this part of the world... even though it seems like it's not in the greatest shape right now (your video seemed to confirm this notion).

  • Interesting, I sometimes fear that populations captured behind these kinds of psychological barriers never tend to free themselves on their own accord. Generally, I think, it's the feeling of being lost and having no purpose or ambition - and so they drink to fill the void.

If you really want to help these people, give them something to do. That is - if you are in any position to.

  • And that is the way this country is headed, the tyranny of the gov is overwelming at times and pushes people to soak up sorrows in a drink. And sadly all by design!

This is why we should join our city council meetings and stress to them the over governmental controllium that seems to be closing in on us at a rapid pace!

Thanks for helping us to understand sergei!

  • Glad to see you back Sergei,

I saw the same thing happening in Ukraine when i came back to see it after a few years, i think people are too attached to a certain nostalgia because it took up so much of their time. It took me so long to get over the fact how people in USA are much more individual and want to keep more space to themselves because they have that option in contrast where in Ukraine you just learn to live and cope with them. I'll look forward for your next videos.

  • Low birth rates and high mortality rates (amongst males) in Russia debatebly due to alcohol abuse must be a nightmare for the government trying to plan a sustainable future!

Furthermore, I heard that Russians are generally incredibley racist. Which is also a nightmare, in that they can't repopulate themselves and they can't attract new people!!!

It is interesting to see what strategies the government will enforce.

  • Whoever downthumbed my comment, I'm guessing it was because of the second hand information I said I heard concerning general Russian culture.

My strategic management lecturer had a daughter who was studying in Russia and she had friend who (I forget his country) looked of African decent. The police in Russia apparantely used to arrest him for walking down the street.

  • to the extent that he had to leave the country !!

  • Comment removed

  • russia's foreign policy is disgusting.

  • so is the US's, join the club.

  • nah the US's is pretty good.

  • I had met a friend who was raised on the South side of Chicago. I pointed out to him that all those billboards selling liquor and showing how "cool it is " is ruining the impoverished even further. He took notice and and had agreed. You would NEVER see such advertisments in middle class or wealthy neighborhoods.

this IS planned and intentional. To keep the poor occupied with destroying distractions. It is no suprise this type of warfare is throughout the world.

  • The alcohol is problem is due to poverty.

    poverty is due to capitalism.

So the problem is you spoke is related to what you thought was a good thing.

Back in the days (USSR) drug use alcoholism and crime were very rare (from Russia to east Germany) and now the east Germany is in shit hole, Russia is gone under and if i'm to guess the rest of East Europe will follow.

  • the poverty was because of the collapse of an economic system. the type of system is irrelevant. if any system having a profound influence over the lives of a society collapses. there will be negative repurcussions, no matter what kind of system is in place. East Europe was also a pretty rough place when capitalism collapsed there too. it's like having a coat taken away from you. doesn't matter what kind of coat, communist or capitalist or socialist or mixed. you're still going to get cold.

  • My brother is there and he told me about this serious problem. i hope things get better. i also hope that next videos bring less saddening facts.

  • Thanks for posting. I am sorry your trip home left you feeling separated. This happens after time. Alanon is useful if your family or friends are alcoholics and this is causing you distress.

  • I love your videos, my freind! Nice to see you :)

  • -Serguei

It is great to see you! Welcome back. I have circulated your video widely (Economics: Cash Loop/Cashless Loop) and I know it has benefited many people.

The issues you discuss in this video are personal. Thank you for sharing.

You have a very high emotional quotient. which enables you to communicate well and be understood by employing multiple learning techniques.

    cont. ~~~~~~>

  • You're in a perfect position to share experiences you have in the US with the citizens back home by creating a correlation between drug use/abuse whether legal or prescription. You might consider making a series of videos and making them accessible to Russian citizens that show the ill effects of alcohol and drug abuse in the US.

It is a means of communicating your concerns about too large a presence and availability of alcohol and its' detriment when not consumed in moderation; like Chocolate

  • And there is one more obvious example I am reluctant to mention; but it is the obesity problem in the US. Yet another example of too many restaurants and poor quality food that is abused for the same reasons as drugs and alcohol; Depression and improper medical or holistic approaches to addressing the underlying cause of the abuse.

  • not only in Russia bro

like all over the world =(

but if ppl wanna destroy there lives

    its there choice

  • I noticed in 1997 in St. Petersburg how there was almost no advertising. It was kind of neat, you walk down the road and then you look in a door and there's a full on Mexican restaurant or book store or music store.I'm sure it is diff now, bound to change with more TV and movies being seen by more people. We used to have drunkedness taking off here, but then since you have to drive everywhere, it was hard to drink, now, Meth is the big problem and getting bigger. It is a cancer on our society

  • Drunkenness is just one of many ways that we try to find satisfaction, or a way to forget our pain. God told Jeremiah: "For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me and the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." (Jeremiah 2:13) God is our only true satisfaction . . . . all else are counterfeits.

  • My friend, welcome back...

Its sad to hear of this report, but I still pray that one day Russia will rise back to the top of civilization once again.

Alcoholism is a big problem, and thats what slows the transition process from communism to democracy. As long as people show little interest in their government, it will take a long time for change.

Once people start taking an interest, and pay attention, thats when democracy will advance.

Looking forward to more videos friend,

    Doug

  • Isn't Communism a economic philosophy and democracy is a way to govern? Communist parties can win elections and lose elections they don't have to be totalitatarian. One doesn't necessarliy exclude the other.

  • But It's against their essence (at least against their ancient fundaments).

  • basically you don't want to have any more kids. My kid is in the state hospital with a dibilitating case of OCD. And Aspergers. Sick kids are very painful to care for. And I'm sick too. Sorry I'm drunk. I have to kill my OCD. Die OCD

  • Well, on th one hand, I am glad that the free market is making inroads in your country, and shelves are stocked with goods for the people. I am sad that your experience was tainted by what you perceive as alcoholism. Hope things get better in that aspect.

    Nice to hear from you

  • Neurotoxin is good. Neurons are bad. Neurons give me OCD agony. Fuck Neurons. Die neurons, die.

  • Which city in Canada. I am in Toronto.

  • Wow, I'm a subscriber to your channel. I got really drunk because I was suffering from a hella bad case of OCD attack and I can't stand it. I logged on to check out OCD videos to relate to my fellow sufferers and saw your video. I am in a LOT of pain. I am drunk. I see your video and I see your pain over your people's self destruction. I feel for the Russian people. Life is agony. OCD agony. Weird that I am hammered right now watching this particualr video. I feel for your pain, man.

  • very interesting - good to see your face too.

  • Russian people are goods , alcohol problem is very bad .

  • A fascinating look at contemporary Russia. I anticipate more fine videos from you. Wish you the best.

  • Ive always loved Russia and its people. To hear your story makes me sad so I hope in your updates you share more uplifting news. Good news about private sector services and businesses. Unfortunate that the Alcohol and tobacco problem is so prevalent and hurting Russian families. I hope there are more children because IMO Russians are the most beautiful people I have ever seen. I would love to hear if you think anything can be done to help. We need a strong healthy free Russia in this world.

  • Awesome video, vorojtsov. I think this is the first vlog I've seen f4room you. All other ones were about chess (not that your chess videos aren't cool or anything).

Anyway, I like it. I like hearing first hand about other countries.

    Cheers.

  • I understand the Putin (a teetotaler) recently addressed to problem of alcoholism. I don't know what value such recriminations have, coming from authoritarian figures, unless they are accompanied by changes in policy. Policy alone has limited effect if not accompanied by peer movements such as activism from labour movements and women's groups, in addition to religious bodies. Any social recovery is going to be slow, but all the more reason to start now. It is a huge tragedy unfolding.
