  • This style of this music was the backdrop of my childhood growing up in Detroit. I am talking about "MOTOWN USA".. Thank you Mayer for bring back REAL MUSIC to listen to again...... Another one who also brought back the sound of soul is Raphael Saadig!!!!

  • favorite mayer hawthorne song of all time.

  • I love the traffic in the background, it really goes along with it. Now when I play diff versions I still hear the traffic.

  • same vocal as the unissued jesse james track

  • @fatsoul007 Released in The UK on Soul City Sc 131 Ktf

  • Its a Vestax Handy Trax, that turntable is awesome

  • where can i get a turntable like that?

  • what kind of turntable is that?

  • Interesting take on the song generally associated with Cliff Nobles. Hawthorne takes the song and, to paraphrase Paula Abdul, "makes it his own." Perhaps this should have been a more successful record than it was.

  • i like that "vromm vromm" car sound in the background xD

  • that phonograph is a direct symbol of Mayer, Cute, inauspicious and made quality

  • Love it!! Super cute record and I really like the little player!!

  • love that song

  • @BoomBapChild your username is awesome

  • My turntable can't play this :'). Probably to small or something.

  • une tuerie! aussi bien que aloe blacc! tiens meme maison de disque comme par hasard!

  • I want that 4 inch!!!

  • I just.can't.stop.clicking.on.his.vide.os.

  • love it!

  • How many of you know that he's singing the lyrics of the vocal version of "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles. Thumbs up if you knew....

  • @averypack13 didnt know that until you mentioned it....now i can hear it.......falls right in...

  • @averypack13 or is the horse the instrumental version of "love is all right" ??

  • @miamiwax Yep, you're right, actually. It wouldn't sell until some DJ flipped it over and played "The Horse" which was originally meant to be the B-side.

  • 72rpm?

  • OK, I bought the 2 LP, with the "red heart" single. now how can i get this? i dont want cds, just this

  • This is definitely what I've been missing out on.

  • Everything tastes better in vinyl.

  • DOPE!!

  • respect to you

  • omg, im in love!

  • One of the best songs I ever heard!

  • what mic did you use and how did you position it, it sounds great with the street cars in the background. love it.. :D

  • I love this song! Authentic soul, thank you for bringing it to the mainstream, Maxwell can't do it all by himself. Also, I love your lyrics. I am so tired of hearing songs about wanting to get someone in bed, and stripping their clothes off, and licking them in 1000 places! I mean come on, because the talent is lacking. REAL singers who are not using auto tune and doing runs with their voice. YOU ON THE OTHER HAND, CAN SINGGGGG! or SANGGGGGGG is the better word.

    Thank you Mayer!!!

  • Damn, I love this track so much. How did mayer get the drums soundin so Motown like that?! Crazy, such a talented musician.. Keepin music alive!

  • This song just makes me want to dance around the room just like I use to do when I was a kid in the 70s

  • My turntable can't play this small format, he did it one and then never again, weird!

  • good vibrations, "vintage is the best"

  • @pimentonmolon this, my friend, is not vinage. its very contemporary auctually despite the motown, 1964 feel. and i fucking love it.

  • I`m not against MP3, but see the record spinning and the sound that comes from speakers is an amazing feeling that no other media could beat, in my opinion.

  • tune

  • yo that is hot

  • Im in love

  • thtas fucking sick? its a single vinyl in a cd case?? dope

  • 5-5, he's in Holland - Liberationfestival in Groningen :D

  • Love I wish it would rain:-}

  • This tune in your headphones and the sun above is a winning combination. Love it :)

  • He grew up outside Detroit so he sings soul like motown classics and stuff. he just killed a show in Japan.

  • @Sladeofdark

Yea man...I saw his Fenruary 27th show at the Billboard Live!!! It was siiiiiiiiick!!!

Picked up this CD and the heart record.

  • Good job Mayer. Good to see someone like you picking up the mantle for classic soul!!!

  • dope

  • can someone explain to me what this is? is this some new shit? sounds like some oldies

  • its new...its suppose to sound like "some oldies" its called vintage sound aka throwback aka motown sound.

    nice upload :)

  • this dude can sing

  • der shit is classic just the bomb

  • I don't think people should say "shit" or "bomb" in classics. xD

  • @DNDerek what does it matter what they say?!?! a classic is a classic!

  • @DNDerek someones eventually going to take it there. i guess he did.

  • so hold up. this won't be available on c.d?

  • Fantastic idea! I guess a 4" is too small to be dinked?

  • he kinda sounded better live at fox hills mall, but this is ok

  • i didnt get the 4-inch with mine :(

  • I went to the concert Monday night at the Prinzenbar (on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Germany) and picked up a CD there. Mine has the 4" vinyl.

  • thats so sick it came in a cd case an shit wtf

  • Good thing I copped this little single, nice song

  • Vestax portable. It's full of awesomeness!!!!!

  • Other awesome cover !! Cliff Nobles & Co. this time. Keep killing it with this old motown stuff. Can you believe this song was written in 1965? It still sounds great today !!!

  • what kind of vinyl player is that???

  • found it allready, nice.

  • amazin, all your stuff, thanks ST

  • groovinest jam right here

  • kudos to Mayer Hawthorne for making real music, and hats of to Stones Thrown for supporting good artists.

  • huge

  • Diggin that tune! big up to Hawthorne and Stones Throw!!!

  • yo im from L.A. and i think this video clip was film in echo park or silverlake area? cause stonesthrow records might be located in both these area...shit man i will just look on my wax 12'' single cover of quasimoto "microphone mathematics" on tha back!

  • this makes me want to purchase the whole vinyl set and start collecting!

  • props to MH and ST for doing some inventive things with the wax.

  • i must say i love this song

  • im startin to think we might be listening to the Bobby Caldwell of our generation

  • Stones Throw is the only label that keeps music alive today

  • @EzekielRox30 Exactly, they're the only ones who still put music on vinyls, they know music. Thanks stone throw!

  • @jtgtheog you can buy lady gaga and lil wayne also on vinyl, but their not supposed to be on vinyl. this is music worthy to the vinyl.

  • @EzekielRox30 Don't forget about Daptone!!

  • @EzekielRox30 Can't forgot about the dudes at Rhymesayers!!

  • @EzekielRox30 *forget.

  • @EzekielRox30 I respectfully disagree but there is Fat Possum Records, Nonesuch Records, and many other indie record companies (although there are alot of indie record companies that play very uninnovative music and they think they are keeping music alive solely because their clients aren't famous...but those ones suck)

  • @EzekielRox30 As much as I love Stones Throw record, there are some fine labels out there doing awesome stuff

  • @EzekielRox30 Don't forget WARP! :D

  • Mayer truly is one of the best musicians of his generation!!

this is the reinvention of old school motown/stax etc. soul/funk stuff and it really sounds freakin' AWESOME!

    KEEP THE FUNK ALIVE!!!!

  • Feelin that on a friday!

  • pre order mine when they emailed me the 1st day to do so...l ordered the wax & cd...yo pbw please, please, please press out a 12'' inch of "Shiny&New" from MH album! That track is soooooooooouuuuuuulllllllllll to da fullest!

  • i just got my pre-order on, indeed. plus the heart-shaped joint which i was super late on.

  • yesyesyesyesyessssssss!

  • Sick !

  • I'm waiting for a Dam Funk x Mayer Hawthorne collab! Awesome track!

  • would be tha bomb !

  • Haha that sounds aweosme but would it really work? there styles are really different.

  • Different is what makes the sound unique. Both are extremely talented, so I wouldn't be surprised if they found a common ground. Check out the Just Aint Gonna Work Out (Astronote remix) and you will hear a crazy beat blended with Mayers vocals, it worked phenomenal!

  • Damn this shit is just too fresh!!! The album is phenomenal too!!
