Wow, melbourne when it was still ''marvelous''! This footage is brilliant, I can't understand why any Australian wants to move to a republic. Nearly 60 years of devoted service, an apolical figure who embodies our past and gives us hope for the future, she symbolises all that is good. God Save The Queen.

@walford70 Dad spent months preparing to shoot this footage .... I'm sure he would have been delighted that people can enjoy his work, documenting some of Australian history. This was the first time a reigning Monarch had ever visited Australia, so he knew it was important. Brand new FJ Holdens driving down the street, the old trams and buildings .... the rarest part is that it's all in colour ... putting sound on it was hard in those days too. Might have a go myself some day.

I read that when Her Majesty visited 75% of Australians came to see her. Is n't that just amazing how she used to unite Australia so much. But now because of the left our Heritage, instutions and Her Majesty have been thrown on the scrap heep because of them.

At the time of the Queen's visit to Germany in 1978, I was 14. It made a deep and lasting impression on me and it turned out that this moment would quite literally change my life. Ever since then, I have been fascinated by everything connected with Great Britain, especially Her Majesty.
