It does not really matter yes safety is inportant but if he was been told what to do by the driver like put the brakes on put power on I don't see a problem. Anyway isent the new york subway driverless now?
I drove my first train when I was 8. It was an old SOUTHERN (america not europes southern) switcher. I actully will never regret that day because if it wasnt for that day id might not be trying to work on the same railroad I drover that train on! Tobad due to th door falling off 4 years back I cant get in the cab anymore due to legal issues. Im suprised letting me drive wasnt legal!!! But it was something id never forget! Happier than a kid at DisneyWorld!
I'm all for broadening kids horizons, and allowing them to learn new and interesting things, but not this way. Wtf. The train, believe it or not, is very complex to run. There are frequently MTA workers on the damn track, and when they are there, the driver has to beep. What if the kid didnt beep? Also, if he just "forgot" to slow down or the driver didnt tell him, there couldnt been a accident w/ him running the red light. Smdh. Be fucking professional. Ppls lives in ur hands driver.
what a prick its no diffrean then when kid use to go up in the cockpit and get their little wings to clip on their shirt has he never herd of take you kid to work day and mabey she was a working mother and she didn't have siter that day its on tracks their are trip switches it passed a stop signal and unlikely he was ever in control of the train so no body was in ne danger
i dont care how old you are if your parent, let's you into the cab of this train he should be fired immediately because you are putting peoples life at risk and this is not a toy. So relax w your tone and be glad you ain't like the idiot couple years back that got arrested for driving a subway car.
This is sad. No one besides the engineer, motorman, or conductor should be in the cab. If someone isn't an railroad employee he or she should at least try to remain hidden. I mean if you're not an employee and obviously not old enough to be an employee, why would you make an announcement?
Stupid just stupid.
If you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing why must you let everyone know about it!?
That Guy is a SNITCH!! I'm 15 and drove a train 3 times, my friend who is an operator, told me I cannot come in with her anymore because of this guy. I want to punch him square in the face!! None of your business dude!
If you from the hood then you know exactly what happened... A mom had to go to work at the last minute and have no damn babysitter... She took her son to work! And I bet he was asking damn questions u kno kid stuff. She tellin him how she do her job, and the damn kid probably opened the door when he wasnt supposed to. ANYWAY theguy now snitched for no real reason and she gonna lose the damn job now! Typical, no damn common sense. How many of you ever had to go to work with mom or dad???
did anyone else feel like cracking that idiot in the face? who makes a big deal about that kinda stuff? its not like the kid was fling an airplane unsupervised...
OMG! HE WAS IN THE CAB!....that doesn't mean he was driving -__-

Semi-interesting, but this is Daily News trash. CNN is desperate for news....so sad.
STOP WITH THE iREPORT JUNK.
We all know you're just faking it to keep from spending time (money) on real news.

So where's the picture with the kid behind the controls? All I see is a kid standing looking at a camera.

@kbusses Yeah, I agree. Where's the proof that this kid is driving the train. It sounds like this guy wanted to be a hero.

It goes to show you that you only need the mental capability of an 8 year old to operate the subway.
