FOR ALL WHO HAVE THIS PROBLEM.. IN THE CAR MANUAL THEY GIVE YOU THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION OF TURNING THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION AND WAITING FOR 10 MINUTES... THEN TURN IT OFF..WAIT A FEW SECONDS THEN TRY STARTING THE CAR..LOOK IN YOUR MANUAL
before you go rewiringyour ignition, try this ,take a piece of fine sandpaper and roll it up to a thin piece and lightly insert it in key hole in and out to clean off buildup on contacts ,it sure worked on mine, then insert key and start car,,,,jb
Your pass lock has failed. You need a new ignition switch + tumbler. Don't forget to do the re calibration for it. (leave key to the on position till the theft light goes off)
@Mrentertainerd3 that is the only permanent fix ..u also need to get the passlock I or II bypass module..u can change out the ignition switch but the problem will return 6 mo or a yr later
hold the crank down til it starts...i own a 2004 impala and that started to happen to me my friend told me to hold the key to the start position until it cranks and turns on.. takes about 10 seconds
This is VERY common and easy to fix. It's gen 3 of GM's anti-theft (they are now using gen 9). First, when it happens, put the park brake on (so the headlights don't come on, 1 click will do). Then turn on the key for 10 minutes. After that the car will start. To completely bypass the Passlock2 system, go to a remote start retailer and have them install a bypass.
shit has been happening to me to, its really agrivatting and happens at the worst times. I've been late to school because of this,if i could get it fixed i would but like you im a poor college student who cant afford it.
