hey there, great videos! question, I have a DVX100b with this adapter and I use a 72mm HD micro step-down.. do you recommend another step down on the DVX100? if so, what?
any suggestion for a good nikon lens for shooting general / close - ups? you stated a 2.8 or better f stop but what mm works best? what other features should i look for for a nikon lens for my m2? thanks
Frame size (CU, MS, WS) can also be manipulated by moving the camera closer or farther (USE this method before changing lenses). The DVX/HVX alone (w/o M2 lens adapter) at open iris can produce a very noticeable SDOF which corresponds to about a 20 ~ 24 mm prime lens. Should you want to increase this "fuzz factor" a 28mm will make softer fore and aft, a 35mm more fuzz, and an 85mm, wow, lots of fuzz (SDOF).
I havent actually gotten a chance to shoot, but just tinkering with an HVX I've already gotten some nice looking results from the Nikkor 35mm f/2 as well as the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8. These are both very affordable, but I had to wait a while for the 50 f/1.8 to get back in stock.
goldenzah: this is kind of random, but I was wondering, what exactly is the dimension of the square port for plugging the whip into the ff? I've heard conflicting reports about the size of this standard...
this is probably a silly question, but I have the redrock m2 with a DVX100 and I a follow focus setup I bought on ebay. It works pretty good but I was wondering what type of marker to use on the FF wheel?
nice work! Also remember that if you purchase a microFollowFocus from Redrock, we have video tutorials on our customer forum as well. This is a nice add-on tut. - Brian
I'm using a letus35 (a bit more difficult to setup), I've got a rod support, but my shots are quite shaky. Do you think the qualtiy of the tripod is important? Is the Follow Focus necessary to insure smooth shots?
nothing in that price range for you. Have to go to about $800-2200 to get a true fluid head on a ball mount tripod with sticks (legs) that are able to hold at least 40 pounds. I wont give any endorsements, so do your research.
I am so glad somebody is showing how to take care of their lens' I've seen TOO many people have their stuff stored uncovered collecting dust and scratches, its terrible! Thanks for all your videos, i'm thinking about purchasing the M2

The non AI lenses seem to have less vignetting that AIS or AI lenses. Vignette FX is traditionally avoided in acquiring a clean image

Have not used the Letus 35.
b/c of the weight, yes tripod strength and stability is def. an issue. FF really is a convenience. Smooth shots is controlled by the operator.

My budget range is between 100USD and 300USD
