The crew had set some streets in the lights for filming some scenes of this movie when we cycled the streets to uptown Rotterdam in the summer twilight.
One of the most atmospheric experiences I remember in combination with the watching of this movie
This is such a beautiful piece. Myself, and my music class were playing this piece yesterday on the keyboards. I really love it; it sounds so familiar, yet I have no idea where I've heard it.
The thing about this film is, it screams pretension, however its realy watchable. I'd say that about all greenways movies. like broccoli and carrots dripped in sugar.
Do yourself a favor and please check out this movie, especially if you like non conventional films and very dark humor. It's a bit hard to find, but I think they just re released it. You may absolutely hate this film or love it, but rergardless won't regret seeing it.
In addition to andres6868's reply, the wives of the two twins die in the same car crash, and the lady who was screaming with no legs was the one responsible for their death...her and the swan. (I won't give the ending away).
No doubt someone will be outraged by me saying this, but this montage of images from the film is, for me, better than the film itself. The film is fantastic to look at and I love Nyman's music, but as a piece of cinema I found it to contain too many muddled and distracting ideas. There is only one thing more pretentious than 'A Zed and Two Noughts' and that is the commentary track on the DVD.
I have not heard the commentary, but I strongly get the impression that Greenaway is rarely interested in telling a compelling story or thematic material. His main interests have always been aesthetic and and playing simple games with the audience. I don't know whether he's pretentious or not, but he's certainly more bearable than Godard.
Christ, this music has stuck in my head.

On of my favourite films, pretentious at times, but the music lifts it beyond that.
