DVD laser with module

how did you wire it up, what current did you use?

200mA. I use current generator.

you can`t use 200mA cuz you will kill the diode!!!!!you have to use 1.80-1.95 v , 80-90for a dvd rom laser and for a dvd rw laser you have to use 100-120mA

200mA is safe. The voltage isn't matter. Previously I drived the diode with 300mA, and is still working.

man with he laser diode i got a problem whene i remove it from the burner it stay in a case with some kind of grey clay or glue how do i remove it from that case?? without dmg-ing the laser

I use a fret saw to cut out the diode from the green alloy.

thx i done that :D now another problem i make al that circuit and now my laser is like a light ball not a straight line ... :( i need a laser module??? like an axis if yes where do i buy it?>??

You can buy from ebay all kinds of lenses, and modules.

I putted regular 5mw laser lens on my 16x dvd writer diode and it doesn`t burn anything but it can show long distantes do you know why

Low current? Bad lens? Maybe.
