  • your a BEAST

  • you got some cool riffs, man

  • it doesn't even sound like you're using the line 6

  • Good playing. You got to record direct from guitar to computer though instead of using webcam mic for good audio quality. I got stereo effects processors (Digitech RP 500 and also Roland VG 99). Great for recording into computer.

  • deff like your style bro thats what i am aimin for..

  • FUCKING AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!

  • you are good at what you do, but you should look outside the box of the notes you use. you use the same notes and every song and so does as i lay dying and as blood runs black. THERES SO MANY NOTES TO PLAY, dont just stick to the same one throw some minor notes and 5ths and shit. not just open 2 3 5 7 8 10. just saying but if thats your shit than thats your shit, i find it more satisfying when i make a riff that doesnt sound like every other core band out there

  • dude this is sick...when u started the riff i felt like i was hearing genericness but this is nice!!

  • just another metalcore riff

  • sick.. line 6 is my fav amp

  • @NathanMantle I do. I more or less post them up here so I can keep track of them lol. I also post em up here for those people that are learning or what not to maybe serve as influence. Not saying I expect to influence people but ya never know.

  • @mydarkeningheart do u have chorus turned on if you do turn it off completly

  • what rigg u got thyre (guitar, Amp, etc.;)

  • dude ur technique is so fucking clean

  • @RollerLaughs Thanks! I may not be the best guitarist but I am solid at what I do.

  • Fucking sick.

  • i like this

  • esp ltd deluxe get it right

  • @killinghersoul It's actually and ESP Eclipse Custom.

  • is that a ibanez art120?

  • Whats pugnacious?

  • nice playing and amp! i have the line 6 spider 3

  • Hmm, I really like this riff.

    Stay metal. :)

  • RE TESO

  • lol i have that amp

  • it sounds so .. IRON MAIDEN !! i really like it =D

  • Awesome riff :) !

  • its more than awesome! but the sound was crapping shit

  • wow great stuff, keep up the work.

  • dude can i get tabs for the part at :50 - :51? i like thet way that sounds but i cant figure it out. im not gonna steal i just want to know how to do it so i can develope that technique and create those kind of riffs of my own

  • dude could Iget the tabs for this, This is really good!!

  • it sounds badass even though theres no phaser it was just your mike it sounds better this way anyways i think.

  • do this in d standard. it would have more bite but wouldn't be sludgy.

  • It was done in standard E. If I dropped the first string the arpeggios I was using would not only change but the finger position wouldn't be as easily strung together.

  • You're a decent guitarist, but I didn't really like the riff.

  • that was sick as shit dude. the solo was like woah. i love you

  • nice amp, some parts sounded a little repitive, but it was really good

  • awesome amp

what is it a spider line 6 or something

tell me the quality and type of it, i might get one

  • this is fucking awesome

  • so good man classic metalcore riff sounds nice dude keep it up

  • Its really goodm but the phaser is a little iffy for me, although it does sound cool in parts

  • The phase shifter was actually a mic issue I was having. That was completely unintentional and the riff wasn't supposed to have any effects at all.

  • Nice playing man. Nice amp too! Line 6 are the best =D

  • dude dat rules

  • generic...yawn...

  • What kind of line 6 head is that?

  • yes classical to.. sorry im just having an off.. well life..

  • yes i no this, but i was saying to that one dood who said where do u think metal gets it roots.. i said from jazz and blues.. basically all music started along that line and then people experimented and formed all this other music.

  • you cant forget classical. melodic death metal in particular was inspired mostly by classical.

  • so true.

  • Not true. It's a long chain, classical was far back. Melodeath comes after hardrock/rock, which again roots in blues and jazz... Which the black working class developed with working songs, negro spirituals and so on. True facts, i know this shit.

  • there are clear classical influences in melodic death metal. im not a huge children of bodom fan, but they are probably the best example of that.

  • Well, COB does indeed have a very special sound. They're inspired by classical - no doubt - but they're far from the definition of melodic death metal. It will be wrong to speak for a whole genre with one band. I think that the genre of COB is undefined...

And I don't mind if you other guys think it's melo black metal or anything :P it's a boring discussion

  • kalmah also has some classical influence, and they are straight up melodeath, and wintersun, but wintersun is also kind of undefined.

  • dont forget norther some definite classical influences there

  • actually all music got its roots from jazz music, and blues

  • Technically yes, but metalcore evolved from gothenburg style metal. You're going way to far back for your comment to be relevant to what I was saying. E.G. You essentially said that a caterpillar becomes a butterfly without ever mentioning the cocoon state which is HOW a caterpillar becomes said butterfly. I understand that all music STARTED with jazz and blues but it then evolved into something completely different... and that something different is where metalcore came from.

  • That's right Metalcore is from my town :D i'm from Sweden gothenburg :D hahahahahha

  • To me it sounded not average, but cliche. Usual core-ish melodic run, not hard one.

Maybe it would sound better if you'd played it using lower notes. Or maybe adding some rhythm backing tracks with drums of just a simple beat.

I don't know man, I guess that wasn't constructive, but I'm not saying that it's bad - it's just not outstanding. I don't even listen to this kind of music, and my knowledge about how it should sound is next to nothing, so don't take me seriously. Keep on keeping on.

  • Yea, just get a (new?) Mic, that should fix it. I use a RockBand Game microphone, and it works pretty well lol.

  • Lol are you recording with a Mac Notebook? Because mine does that weird surfing shit... I hate it, and it sounds similar to what happens about 10 seconds in. But nice riffage man, as always. Keep on rockin'.

  • iMac but it's close enough. Yea that has never happened to me until I made this video and now I can't seem to fix it. I think it's the noise cancellation from the sound waves hitting my wall and coming back. It's kinda annoying lol.

  • pretty fuckin good

  • bro you need no critiscism your fucking awesome

  • sick riffs dude, i just got my first halfstack

the other day, i got the Line 6 Spider Valve HD100, different then what you got since the tubes and all, and a Traynor YCS 4x12 Vintage style haha its so tight, all my vids of me up on my youtube are like a year and a half old, my playing abilities pretty much just around yours, to bad we didnt live in the same area, we could of had a sick ass band lol

  • this is probably my favorite one that i've seen you post. it blends together very well. it could possibly be very versatile with lyrics and other instruments. it sounds pretty amazing.

  • Nice amp. Thinkin about gettin be one. Because it looks like Im gonna be in a band here pretty soon. So I need some awesome sound.

  • i think this is a great riff u really know how to rock !

  • tabs or walkthrugh vid wuld be great!

  • sounds reallly metalcore

    (thats a bad thing btw)

  • Why is everyone so bent on labels? Metal is metal. It can be melodic, thrashy, slow, fast, in key, outta key, etc etc. Who gives a damn.

Btw if you knew anything about actual metal you'd realize I am influenced from old school gothenburg and meloidc death. Hell, where do you think metalcore got it's roots? Same place I did. I just get thrown in with metalcore players now-a-days.

  • soz mate

    this riff is metalcore

    and thats really nothing special

im not saying give up or anything like that

you look like an alright guitarist

but riffs like this are boring as fuck

  • Can you post a video with something "better" in your words?

  • shore can jg

  • Well your guitar is kick ass. Just ditch the amp and you'll be set. Krank or Mesa

  • Yeah all this guy needs is a good amp and he's set. Krank or Mesa amps are great for this stuff, I think.

  • Actually, I hate both Krank and Mesa. I am saving to get an Engl Powerball. ;)

  • Engl is awesome too.

  • I have no idea why people would not like your riffs. THey make me guitargasm everytime.

  • sounds 2 familiar

  • dude soundr really good

    is that the line6 hd150

if it is how do you like it?

  • badass dude.

    p.s. NICE AMP!

  • lol your messed up mic sounds like a phaser pedal,it sounds pretty cool =]

  • it was put together well, but it just doesnt sound that good

  • nice riff. can you tell how you get ideas for this stuff? oh and btw, pugnacious is a nice word to use lol

  • nice Line-6, mines just a little 15 watt, how much did that 1 set you back?

  • sounds sick man

  • yep i agree with o0r4nger0o

  • yeah... totally..... sounds alot like Unearth..... pretty cool!

  • this sounds like soemthing unearth would do, awesome job man!

  • nice but what scales do u use

    list most of them plz

  • dude

    you inspire me

im starting a band. and making good metal riffs is pretty hard 4 me. and your like godly

  • how come u play half of the song on the neck pickup.......r those the blackouts???does it sound better in the neck than the bridge????

  • your riff's sound quite similar sometimes, but if this was put in a song it's different enough to stay in the head, I quite like it.

  • Your riffs are all great but some of them do sound very similar at times. I love that little solo at the end. That was pretty fuckin cool.

  • It's a little tough to follow, there's a lot going on. Is it in a strange time signature or anything? The actual phrasing just isn't a clear-clut as some of your other riffs. Tough for me to see where it starts and ends, particularly the beginning and ending riffs.

    But hey, that's just me.

  • dude all of your riffs are great..!!! how the fuck u do it....?

  • LOVE all your riffs but they do kinda sound the same.

  • dude nice but do most of your riffs follow the standard sort of metalcore progression and like do the pedal off the e-string thing?

  • all your riff sounds the same

  • thats metalcore for you

  • it's an awesome shit we have here!

Hey, watch my videos and post a comment there, please?

    tks mand ^^

    hugh!

  • omg your a fucking genius!!!!!!

  • dude i really like this, how do you like the stack? i have a combo 150.

  • yeh, how do you get that tone. alot of new speed/black bands seem to use it.

  • check the answer I gave suicidalpoptart1. :)

  • not to mention the fact that hes got a spider 3 175w with the 250 artist preset tones. best bang for buck. u were switchin effects to much tho man. i like ur "new metal riff" in standard bro. sick shit. wish we could jam sometime.

  • Actually I did this with a Spider II 150w half stack and the effect you're hearing is just because my mic was fucked up. I hardly ever use anything aside from just straight distortion and a little reverb lol.

  • I thought your sound was pretty good. I can see you're using a Spider II and not III.

  • how do you get tghat higher pitch tone? I hear it in a l ot of music but i can never get it

  • I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but I think that what you're talking about is a pinch harmonic, also called a squealy. I'm to lazy to bother explaining it to ya', but you can surely look up on some instructional videos on youtube - there's quite a lot of them. It's kind of hard to get the note in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it it's not hard at all. :)

  • no , imean like the way the guitar sounds. i hear it in a lot of metal and metalcore bands...its hard to describe so high pitched was the only thing i could think of :P

  • haha, alright. ^^

  • having the right distortion and/or overdrive.

  • not just the right distortion also the right tuning i think is in drop c or d

  • pretty sick

  • Pretty much the same thing as your other riffs...

  • hey, it sounds nice! but i've watched 4 videos of you playin that AMAZING razor and all the riffs are pretty the same, they all sound very similar, try to be more versatil

  • are you using some sort of reverb effect? or is that just an outcome of the recording?

    great riff though

check your messages btw if you havent already ^_^

  • haha oh wow, ignore this comment i just read down a few comments, sorry

  • dude, freakin sick!!!

  • LMAO never mind what i said in my last comment about messing with effects.. in another vid you said you mic was messed up and sounded like it had a flange?

  • mine does that too sometimes!

it's odd i have no idea why.

  • line 6 amp has killer tone.. i play the spider 2 and it has deep smooth distortion. Ive been playing for 9 or 10 years, good post

  • Asom licks man. personaly i like this most outta most of your vids. this riff/song is a lot more technical than the others. well constructed. like the way you messed around with the effects too ;]

  • It's a little difficult to follow until the change at 0:25.

  • Dude, that riff is sick.

    Damn, we gotta jam soon.

  • awsome riff!

    so r u married

i couldnt help but noticed the ring?

  • As close as I legally can be.

  • Dont take this the wrong way, but arent you gay? I remember reading that somewhere, but im not certain. Im asking that because you said "as close as i LEGALLY can be."..Thats the only thing I could think of in that situation.

  • hey man. i seen most of your vids. this is prob a noob question but, whats the clickin noise? is it the string hitting the bridge/pickup or the pick?

  • The pick hitting the strings and the strings vibrating on the metal frets.

  • it kind of sounds like COB

  • What are you on?

  • Title correction: Just Another New AWESOME Riff

dude which model of de esp ec series do u have??

  • It's actually an older ESP Eclipse Custom. :)

  • can you write the complete specs for the guitar down

    how much was it

  • For me it was like $400 but it is an $1800 guitar. I bought it from a friends that ummm.... doesn't really need the money haha. He bought it a few years back and hated the feel. What exactly do you wanna know about the guitar?

  • the specs

    wood

    construction

    finish

    outline of the guitar

  • hey man, this gives the blackouts more justice than your toneport video, you can really hear the dynamics in them, the more i hear them the more i wanna ditch all my EMGs

  • 5* man. love your videos and riffs. you have so many that you shouldn't have much of a problem writing full songs!

  • damn man all your riffs are just so damn good! why are you not in a band puttin out cds

  • Thats a nice riff there. Nice guitar too. Those Blackouts are awesome. I notice you pick with a closed fist. How is that working for you. I read that you were to pick with and open hand so I've been gradually trying to fix it. You seem to do fine with a closed fist though. Once again, Awesome riff.

  • Close fist is fine for me. My guitar teacher at my college (I am a music major) said it really doesn't matter, do whatever gives me more control and feels more natural. He said he personally prefers closed fisted and the guy is an amazing guitarist.

  • hahha why are faggots telling you to play riffs xD

    whatever

great work man hopefully you get out of you scale rut

  • thats pretty good

if your a monkeys uncle 0_0

  • dude SICK!! I HAVE THE SAME SETUP! LINE 6 FTW!! LOOOOOVe your style, reminds me of As I Lay Dying a bit. keep shreddin!

  • whats the time signatures for this?? i know it switches from 4/4 and to other things, just not sure what.

  • JOIN A BAND AND MAKE A LOT OF CDS

  • yeah you should get a band together and hopefully bicome rich and famous

  • Another awesome riff,Man...You are awesome at guitar.

Good luck in starting a band an all.

  • thats a really great riff.

btw i dont know why these kids are trying to give you riffs to play. They are beyond generic and basically suck, so i think its funny that there saying like 'd00d pley thiz riff!! 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 000 000' and expect you to be like "d00d thats rippin!!"

    uh.

haha but yeah definetly good job. Im gonna post a few cool-ish riffs and whatnot, Im expecting my schecter 2008 hellraiser to come in, and I recently acquired a Krank Jr, awesome metal tone

  • LMFAO! I was thinking the same thing but hey, you gotta start somewhere. I can't fault them for the riffs, just for telling me to play them lol.

Nice setup btw, Lemme know when you get some vids with that gear up.

  • You are deffinatly stuck in a groove like I currently am, If you know what I mean.. Not a bad thing, Im js.

I think your a badass guitarist.

  • Oh, I have already admitted I am stuck in a rut haha. It's cool, but annoying. I see myself using all the same scales and the same progressions constantly.

  • i love it becuase it LOOKS so simple but it's not, if anyone's every actually tried playing metalcore riffs

  • try this. 5h7 7h8 8h10 10h12

    00 00 00 00

    i like this riff.

my band uses it in one o uur songs.

    all 00's are palm muted

  • play this on guitar on e string 00 55 00 77 00 88 00 77

  • Huh? Why would I play that and where did that come from?

  • sweet.

reminds me of killswich for some reason.

    unfortunatly I despise Line6 though

  • sweet riff. i like your amp i have the spider 3 15 watt one so i dont have as many distortion effects but really fricken sweet riff.

  • can u make a walkthrough vid of this its amazing

  • Hi ;) could you tell me which setting R U using in this SPIDER ? Is it "insnane" ??or what ?? could you write about knob positions 'cause i liked your tone ;) I've got Floor POD Plus and it seems to have same "Line6 AMP models" as your SPIDER has :) ...

  • It's a Spider II. I have my bass at about 7 o clock, mid around 2 o clock, treble about 2 o clock (slightly less than the mids), my gain at about 11 o clock and my reverb at about 7 o clock (just enough to get rid of that digital crackle for most of the quick starts and stops. I am using the Metal Green Channel

  • tnx :) well My Floor POD Plus hasn't the METAL GREEN channel but with Your settings i've created similar sound on the INSANE channel :) but my pickups are successfully making the signal unable to overdrive that much. But anyway Your "signed" sound fits me as well :) thanks again ;)

    Stay Tuned ...

  • I like your riffs; What is with that one knob???

  • What knob? The black thing? It isn't a knob. It's a spring loaded pick holder in case I am playing live and drop a pick.

  • oh ok thanks

  • o sweet...ive been wondering how to get rid of that crackle from my spider...im sure being on "metal" helps rather than insane too..

  • yo i've got that same amp...if its the 150 watt that is

  • Yes, it is the 150w. I bought it like 3 days after they came out lol. I plan on buying a new amp.. I want and Engl Powerball but due to cost, I will probably just go with a Line 6 Spider Valve (2x12)

  • wow dude thats really good. i say your the best guitarist of that genre on youtube. I subscribes btw.

  • subscribed btw :)

  • tnx bro :)
