sad bastards of the world with to much time on your hands unite, ok now the sentiments are over and done with let's get the blow torch's out and have a ball lol
Living in glasgow they used to sometimes divert the WCML trains on the Cathcart route if the main line was closed for engineering. My bro and i always ran to the window to watch them fly by. What a great nose they made! Hope they have a good long life in Bulgaria!
A Very sad day I loved the 87 . many a trip from Euston or Watford. why are all the best trains going. I loved train spotting but not any more. All my fave cabs are gone 87 gone , Hst going Class 60 going. the list goes on. there is nothing to spot anymore. Well done on making this. from A Very Sad Fan. Mark
i love the 87 so much, when i was younger i remember going on them a lot and loving the sound on them, the good old days! but now they have gone all the way to bulgaria sadly :( WE WANT OUR 87'S BACK!!!!!!
some of the 87's that were sold to Bulgaria retain the British railway livery, atleast one in Network SE colours and 87004 is in Bulgaria with the blue livery with double-arrow logo that we're oh so familiar with and retains her name plate "britannia .
@Xantec not all for instance recantly 87031 87031 87032 87021 87027 87011 and 87018 have been scrapped with 87025 87009 87023 and 87017 hanging in the balence
wasnt going to do the tour, but the door in question wasnt a passenger door. Surely the train could have run and have the guards office locked so nobody could get into it from inside the train. No doubt it was mentioned at the time.
I travel on Pendolinos every week. They definately seem to be made out of some sort of steel to me! They also tend to run to time and allow me to get from Carlisle to Manchester in less than 2 hours a lot more than could be said for the good old trains you get misty eyed over.
They are made from extruded aluminium. And yes they are faster (obviously). Though many would argue the previous stock was quieter, better built and more spacious.
What a great tribute to one of the best loco's to have graced the UK Railways! 1973-2004 really were the BEST days ever. What did Virgin see in crappy Pendo's! These were my childhood and they haave got a place in my heart. Long SCREAM 87002 till the end. 5* and Fave.
I HAVEN'T BEEN BEHIND ONE FOR 25 YEARS+ BUT IF I HAD HEARD THAT THEY WERE GOING I WOULD HAVE DEFFINATLY BEEN THERE ( these days im an "out of touch" OLD GIT ) BUT THEY WERE "MY BABYS WELL DONE !!!!!
don't get me wrong but frieght liner still use the 86 and 87 but yeah i find it sad that they do that and replace with pendilino's and crap plasticy stuff like that

In many thousands of tin cans. She was cut up in 2002.

Harry Needle the idiot, bought her and cut her up. He was going to do the same with 55016 until DRS bought it.
