I thought the movie Avatar sucked. Mind you I wasn't watching it in a theater in 3D and all, but in my video production class on a small screen. I thought the dialogue was poor, and when I finished watching the film I felt nothing. Don't get me wrong what the man accomplished with all the 3D effects was nice, and I'm sure as a director he is good, but the movie itself really wasn't. Whenever I finish watching a really good film my mind is racing, but after Avatar I was just blank.

@LilliMosh Movies like Avatar are not meant to be watched on a small screen in a production class. It is clearly the benchmark for 3D movies. If you haven't watched it at the theaters in 3D, you're not really getting the full effect that Cameron intended.

As a film student and someone who's heard stories and talked with people who have worked on feature film sets, you can make no mistake that it is a high energy environment with a LOT of yelling and often frustration. Good directors have to be strong, direct and quite honestly sometimes need to be dicks.. but only when it's appropriate.

Avatar was awesome, I saw it yesterday, the story wasn't complex or anything, straight forward you know what happening but when people say it's groundbreaking it truly is, i was in awe whilst watching it

I really respect James Cameron's work, he a gr8 director of our time. I'm excited to see avatar, finally a promising movie with a good story, unlike some other ...ahem....weak plotted robot movies that have jumped the shark....hint it's the Transformers movies. yes they jumped the shark, ROTF was a spectacle because they use gr8 cameras and cgi, but the story was horrible and there was little to no character development. TF is not cut out for the big screen, they do extremely well as toys.
