I hate to say it but this just doesn't feel very Terminator-like -- it's almost as if it were a parody. The Terminator films were always about incredible action scenes and scary robots that stalked you -- this just seems depressing.

I do believe the whole point was to cut back from the expensive SWAT team vs. Terminator scene and go for something creative. This is, perhaps, one of the most creative scenes in modern shows in my honest opinion. I should watch some of this show now..

Dude, of course Connor survived. He survives in every continuity. Anyway, you don't decide what canon is. Only T1 and T2 are canon, as they are James Cameron movies. T3 was a huge disappointment to everyone, and this show is generally better received. Anyway, the terminator universe is great because Canon doesn't even matter. Everything is canon, and everything isn't, because there are infinite timelines.

This is my favourite finale of any TV show I have seen that I can remember. Johnny Cash is a personal favourite of mine, and this is supposedly the last song he made before he died, which he released in 2002.

He let him live because he knew Ellison was looking for Sarah Connor (earlier in the episode, Cromartie found out Ellison Sarah Connor file checked out). If Ellison arrests the Connors, Cromartie gets to terminate them (although I don't think Ellison would ever arrest them now).

I agree. Ellison was reloading his gun and when faced with the T, he had his arms down. The Ts main mission is John and Sarah. Ellison was inconsequential as a threat and so he just moved on.
