I love Animal, but this sounds even better! I'm wondering how the album would have turned out if they concentrated on recording live without that much overdubbing.
A Rockman.....Oh man those were the days. LOL! All the demos sounded like Boston. Oh those Rockmans were great sounding no doubt, but not if you were trying stamp your own sound.
I knew it was Steve before the two chords because of the playing techinque and how long he held out his notes and the setting on the amp................Rest in Peace, Steve.
@padawan007 Yea, i;m still looking from that tone in amplitube, guitarrig, podfarm and other amp-modeling soft - but no way - only orginall stuff from 80's is worth enough :((
@lebki try to check phils old rig from the 80's all i know that he used tc electronic stuff AND!! ofcourse rockman, try to find rockman amps or analog effect modules they will bring you what you want. my friend have 2 rockman analog effect modules from 1986 , and they are awsome
I thought it was sort of cool that Phil mentioned that they were using a Rockman amp for the bass, & probably for the guitars to. In case you didn't know, the Rockman is the amp invented by Tom Scholz of the totally awesome band Boston!
I always like the chorus in this song. steve and phil ALWAYS had that combination of heavy metal guitar and mellow-like guitar and it always seemed like it fit right together. it's a good thing they kept the main chorus. I find that this is a better version than the one that ended up being released. the Lepps are my heroes and they ALWAYS WILL BE!!!!!!!!!
If we could only get Joe to agree to release all of these old demos they have including the ones from Adrenalize that has Steve on the guitar! I dont know who to complain to or if we should make a petition but there is so much stuff they have never released I wish they would!
Wow, I never expected to hear a guitar track in here with drop-D tuning (unless either Steve or Phil dropped the entire guitar a full step. Gives it a heavy break which is clearly audible at 2:27-2:33. Great stuff!
Only one of many, many surprises we'd get if we could actually listen to Mutt's isolated tracks one at a time. I'm sure they all thought he had lost his mind with some of the innovative methods he employed on Hysteria.
hiya fortunatelly we found 2 rockman on ebay from US and i must say that they were in very good condition and they full analog if im right i like the sound of the sustainer effect and also the delay and the vintage overdrive
Its a very interesting clip...and they are very professional in their analysis...I just think joe looks a little silly with the glasses...he's flown all the way to the bank looking like a bug!
I can only imagine what the next album would have been like had Rick not lost his arm. I wish they'd release some of those original recordings pre-accident. I heard they had almost finished the CD and then had to redo almost all of it.
it wouldnt have been any different the drums on pyromania and hysteria are drum machines programmed by mutt lange, his accident didnt effect the albums
i reckon they should make a new re-recoreded version of Hysteria album and see what happens, like as a 21st Anniversary Edition or something, maybe that would work. I think the problem lies with the 1980s image they had during the Hysteria era, which makes people's perception distorted as an "old" band
The did remaster it in 2006 for the deluxe edition whivh is really good. They're also gonna remaster Pyromania and Adrenalize in the near future too. But I totally agree with you, they do still carry that 1980s image, which is a shame.
I would love to see a Hysteria remaster with a more natural and hard rock sound to it instead of the high production and electronic feel the original had
high production and electronic feel perhaps was the genre of the album itself back when they made it. the hard rock and natural sound would definately suit todays music genre.
doesn't it, tho?! that is soo cool. Steve is awesome! i also really like rick's part, too. is this when he had 1arm, cuz if it is & that's on an actual regular drum kit, that is absolutely amazing!!
I liked the guitars, they were nice. And as a bassplayer I must say I adored the bassriff!
Joe and Phil are really sweet guys. It's so strange that Def Leppard has been around for so long, but still they don't seem to act at all like they would be more special than anyone else.
They're just completly normal people who seems to have alot of fun.
I love the fake-endings of the song... It just won't die!
Real Musicians, so concentrated when listening! the guitar(clean) phil plays during the verse isn't the same as on the final animal recording. This guitar work literally amazes me.

Loved these guys when I was a teenager and their shows kicked ass but I have to say when Steve died so did all the songwriting talent in the band. They havent done much since.
Concidering this was done on a 4 track, and it sounds just as good as the Pro Tools HD3 system with the 72-track NEVE mixing console in the studio i record in says alot. Man i love tape. Better, thicker and more natural sound:)
i like this demo but i think they enentually got it perfect on the album version, they got rid of the ploddy feel and it now sounds less repetative and boring
living the rock and roll lifestyle...all of the excesses of drug use, alcohol consumption...it will mess you up unless you seriously rein yourself in.
oh yeah i know what u mean but i dont think they seem messed up here, you know like ozzy or keith richards, i think they look very good for their age in this clip, by this stage they were alredy looking after themselves and i think they sound very sharp mentally, i just didnt get the "this is what years of living the rock n roll lifestyle will do to you" in reference to this clip
there was more stuff from this dvd on youtube before, maybe they we're kicked like I was... Now I just get "file rejected" when I try to upload the files again
