Jeff did an incredible job with this solo, but i personally think he needed to try and copy Slowhand's original solo. What made him all the more interesting was the fact that he was blind. One thing I don't understand is why Rolling Stone snubbed him, and a few other great guitarists, from their list. I think that the world lost a great guitarist when Jeff lost his battle with cancer. RIP Jeff!
What a beautiful soulful voice Jeff had (not to mention his amazing talents on the guitar) and as you mention above he was a modest and gentlemanly person....many other 'guitars heroes' would be well advised to follow his example because as Joe Pass said:"There's plenty of room at the top"...perhaps he should have added: "As long as one doesn't have an out of control ego and fragile sense of identity" no names mentioned :)
Had the chance too see mr. jeff healey but never can't turn time back ,but ill always lesson to him and watch his video's he was super guitar player and singer . he's playing with the angels in heaven today love you jeff
wow i saw him at the u of s at louis pub on campus.. was an outsider .. but was so close to him when he was played ,, i got sprayed by his sweat .. holy water i guess ... super person .. we need more like him on this earth .. be well
@godlyelf ...the thing is; Monteux is sort of a Jazz Festival for Jazz and Blues, that kinda thing. They never knew what hit them when Jeff entered the stage. LOL
@masterj131 I hear you I have owned a lot of top tier Guitars but I have a $150.00 Peavey Predator that will put most $1000 + Fenders and Gibbys to shame. It is still my favorite almost 20 years running. Cats that fixate on the quality of the Guitar and miss the guy behind it are missing it.
god he is awesome I say he was another hendrix in a way Jeff was a cool guitar player and I want to say rest in peace brother the world with long all the other legends make music he was one in billion who could do what he did
Forgot to say this and it makes me so sad but I still can't believe he's gone from this world!!! For anybody who hasn't seen it yet, type in "Jerry Lee Lewis and Jeff Healy" It'll probably blow your mind. God bless him and I thank God Jerry is still with us I must say. Cest la vie!? Life is surely bitter-sweet for us all. God bless Jeff and the Healey band forever.
Hey! Well said 'wolfcatsden'!!! Anything is possible with great music too. Long live another musical genius legend who died too young!!! I mean....listen to that solo! You'd have to be deaf and blind not to hear and see brilliance personified in Jeff. A fellow Canadian too! God bless him.
This gives me the chills. I just want a big screen of this at some huge event with the caption "DO THIS LADY GAGA" or whatever else piece of shit "artist" is there.
So deeply lost for the music, one of the speaking guitars ever played, which had the geniuos of playing the jazz trompet in his last age with the same feeling. Jeff, you made a lot us see the light. Thank your, wherever you are...
The emotion and passion that Jeff evokes from within makes the hairs stand on end. This is truly awe inspiring and the world is not the same since his sad passing .
Ive listened to several versions of this song, but this one is the most soulful .They`re all good in there own way, which is a testament to how great this song really is.
@R3DH0X I think you meant to call me an eugenicist and if my thoughts could eradicate egotistical rappers from coming into being. Then I;m guilty as charged!!!.
Saw Jeff perform this at the old Town and Country Club in Leeds (U.K.) on the Cover to Cover Tour in '96 if memory serves me right. This song and the concert was sublime.
I saw on wiki a few months back and noticed that he had died a while back. Makes me sad to think how life fucked him over, but I guess he died doing what he loved. Thats whats important
I had the distinct PLEASURE of seeing Jeff With Clarence Spadey in 1994 in Lancaster,PA. I was at the most,10 feet from him. I stood there for 1 and1/2 hours and didn't move a muscle. I will never forget that night. It was like an Epiphany for me.
@charliecd001 ill make a deal with god. justin bieber for jimi hendrix, miley cyrus for kurt cobain, kanye west for gary moore, and rebecca black for jeff healey.
@charliecd001 You shouldn't wish anyone death, doesn't matter if you like him/her or not. You could wish though that Jeff Healey would be as popular as Kanye West and with that I totally agree with you.
Just shows how unfair the world is...first cancer claims his eyes as child, then it claims his life later....RIP Jeff you were always great from the day you claimed your guitar!
Just shows theres no god, because theres no fairness here...;(
@lemadera still does......that man had one of the FATTEST Strat tones I've ever heard(yes, FX peds and such, but STILL had balls to the sound), floors me every time I hear that man's music. R.I.P., Jeff Healey....one of the best.
@bowslap I couldn't agree more, I have 2 of his DVD's and they're amazing... I only wish I had had the chance to see him playing live. And from all the players I like very much such as Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, Jeff was the only one I was confident I'd see. R.I.P.Jeff
When it comes to music your real eyes are your soul ! If you see some artists getting into busting out a solo ie. Stevie Ray they close their eyes when they get into the zone/soul and this is no diff for Jeff. This video should be proof enough that music comes from the soul !! There are two guitar solos. Phil Sayce solos from 1:38 to 2:40. Jeff Healey credits him with the solo, and plays his own solo beginning at 3:36.
