I had the opportunity to buy either a new TX200 a new HW97K a 2nd hand HW77 or a 2nd hand Mk1 HW97K.
I went with the 2nd hand mk1 HW97k its a beauty, well bedded in, similar in look to the HW77K but with a few modern refinements. I dont like too much stippling on the stock either. The TX was nice. I have no regrets though, hard to beat the Germans when it comes to engineering. A keeper.
how long would you need to fire this rifle for before it is fully bedded in? without tuning of course. I bought mine 6 days ago and there is quite a twang that comes from the spring during the firing cycle.
@TheGummymix hahaha kids toy. make a vid with someone shooting you, and than say again its a kids toy.. im sure a lot of people want to see that after your stupid coment.
An idea conquers the hearts of people keen on sports, youthful and young of heart. Weihrauch air rifles offer a lot of pleasure in sports. The underlever air rifle HW 97 K especially developed for field-target and silhouette, well-balanced, easy and smooth cocking. Fixed barrel system with muzzle break, equipped with the proven and world-famous match trigger "Rekord", without sights, handy and elegant stock, especially designed for scope use, high comb, checkered or stippled pistol gr
A bit off the topic: have you seen FX Airguns smoothtwist barrel design? Seems to me a very interesting concept. Considering the fact that the popular and highly regarded Lothar Walther airgun barrels (in which the rifling runs the full length of the barrel) are choked at the muzzle so the rifling bites into the pellet a bit more immediately before it exits, perhaps having rifling through the entire length of the barrel isn't really necessary.
@Keith10284 I'm a Weihrauch fan myself. The only HW I've heard anything bad about is the 57 (the lighter underlever similar to the 77 with a pop-up breech mechanism) but I have no experience with that one. It's probably quite a decent gun in it's own right but perhaps falls a bit short when compared with the 77 which as we know is widely regarded as one of the best. No, I haven't seen the B40 so thanks for mentioning, I'll have a look. (No question I'd have to save up and buy the TX200 though!)
@deeds1957 One drawback with the HW77 and 97 rifles is that once cocked they cannot be decocked. To make safe the only option is to fire the gun (in a safe direction obviously). This is due to design of the anti-beartrap mechanism inside these rifles, it blocks the trigger whenever the cocking lever is operated. I believe it is possible to remove the anti-beartrap widget so decocking is possible, but that could be one step towards a very unpleasant thumb chopping accident, so not worth it IMO

@daku18 I don't think either design is inherently better than the other. Under-levers tend to be heavier which may help with accuracy and lots of people like the fixed barrel idea but break barrels can be very accurate too. It's mostly a matter of preference and what the airgun is going to be used for, eg for field target shooting a .177 TX200 underlever would be a good choice, for shooting rabbits a .22 HW80K breakbarrel would be a good choice. You can't go wrong with an Air Arms or Weihrauch
@Beesa10 I totally agree with you on that one, I've owned several break barrels & most were bloody good. But I am a big Weihrauch fan. The HW77 & 97 rifles are amazing. But so are the HW80 & 95 rifles. I'm currently saving for a HW97KT. But the AA TX200 is just as good. Have you seen the Chinese copy of the TX, the BAM B40? Not a bad copy, but AA went mental & there's hardly any in the UK. The HW95 was copied too but Weihrauch didn't give a shit 'cos they know the original can't be beaten.
@Keith10284 i owned a bam 40 a while ago it was absolutely rubbish! it couldn't hit a house not sure why it was so in accurate. but the build quality wasn't that bad visually the underlever was a bit gritty i sold it for £50.
@tinzz1999 I'd recommend trying H&N Field Target Trophy, RWS Superdome, Webley Mosquito Express and Crosman Premier. If you prefer slightly heavier pellets try Air Arms Field (they're quite soft but often give the best accuracy). Go for high quality, dome head pellets made of lead, and stick with the ones that give you the best accuracy. If shooting at close range flat heads like RWS Hobby are devastating but they lose accuracy further out. I'd avoid pointed pellets in general.
I use bisley premier and when hitting pidgeons from around 40_50 yards only around half hit the ground anybody got a suggestion 4 a better pellet ?( Gun is a weihrauch 97 only 6 months old )
i had a hw97k and loved it but had to sell it for money reasons when i got back on my feet i thought i would try the aa pro sport and i bought one and i am so disapointed cant wait to sell it and get another hw97k best sping gun ever
are you for real ox springs are bad you want to get it v-mach tuned trust me i have mine done there is next to no recoild smoothest action ever slao my hw95k is the dogs too as its had the v-mach kit installed too
A great vid :) I have a question, i own this gun, not the newest with the thumb hole stock... the one before. My question is, I see in the vid that when you put the under lever back up cliped in place, I have to use my finger to push the small button in on the end to clip it back in, this vid shows it snapping straight in with no problems... Iv near enough buggered the skin on the end of my finger everytime... is that a problem? thanks
@T2oys No its just a different stock, it does allow faster aiming from shoulder to scoping and depending on the person gives more stability (less wobble) but as i say, depends on the person, just about everyone Weinhauch is is better then good.
@MulticamCowboy Yep sure is..but they still havent surpassed the TX200's and Prosports for sheer power allied to accuracy, after all, these still arent placing as high as the TX200's and Prosports in HFT and FT competitions...wheras..the TX's and Prosports re regularly beating PCP's on the day. The HW97K and KT are good though obviously, great rifles, just havent been able to match AirArms kit. I've got one of these as well as a TX200 HC mkIII and TX200 mkIII full length.
@LCStreetPhotographer - I'll second your comments here , as a long standing Weihrauch owner I always assumed that the AA underlevers were just good imitations - until I actually shot a AA TX 200 , now my new TX mkIII is my main rifle and looks to be for the foreseeable future , right out of the box it felt like a professionaly tuned rifle , many others have said the same and believe me its true.
@bsacadetmajor - bit anal of you isnt it to count a guys mannerisms when he speaks , I doubt he went to RADA - if your an airgun shooter as your username implies you should be more focused on the HW 97 K than this dudes camera manner
