I red an interesting book once, "The English in Africa", written in 1900 (!) , by Hon. David Mills, minister of justice, professor of international and constitutional law at Uof T. (Canada was a British colony then). The story of Egypt stuck in my mind....

I am 68. My father was a career military man; stationed in Germany right after the war. I lived there until I was about 10 years old.

The destruction was terrible! I didn't see the war; but, I saw the rebuilding. The German people would not give up! Somehow, they had the will to hope for a better future for their children. They pulled themselves out of the rubble to create a modern democratic country that is the most prosperous and stable in Europe.

They believe in fair and free elections and other parties voted in by the minorities within state would be there sharing power and opposing certain policies.
