I think Yamaha Pacifica 112v is the best inexpensive Strat-type guitar in the market. I find Pacifica 112V even better than mexican made strats. The bridge humbucker is pretty powerful and can be used for hard rock\metal tones with lots of distortion. The build quality is very good as well. Stays in tune for weeks!

This is an excellent guitar, but the strings that come with it are quite hard to bend to I'd recommend changing the strings straight away if you get it.

@HoldenDinamite - it's the verse chords of "Tonite Tonite" by the Smashing Pumpkins, but he just changed the chords slightly.

Hi Stevie, i have a 112v with Bare Knuckle Pickups.
Two Slowhand single coils and a Crawler Humbucker, suits the Guitar well.
I have Two 112v's and a 412, 612, and a lovely 812v, that one has Seymore Duncans.
Even the 112j is a very good instrument and i have seen it used in a live video on here.
Check out Loz Netto's "Use me up", i love the tone and the funky vibe he gets from his band.

@MITCHWILD True! I have very expensive vintage strat type which is very good but play all the time the Yamaha 112V!
