  • So cute.

  • HARRY POTTER'S OWL

  • ORLY?

  • if that thing bit me, i'll punch the shit out of it lol

  • @dragonballgt132 Well that's nice

  • I always wanted to do raptor rehab, but had to have a day job..... Bosses don't appreciate it when you bring a big screeching bird into your office so you can care for it 24/7.

  • @lindamermaid Very true , but it would sure liven up a cubicle ! I am able to put in a few hours a night after work and then a sat or sun

  • @Saleenrulz Birds can carry things that are transmittet to eachother, but rarely do they pass things to humans -of course you can get ill from playing in feces, but really, who does that ? It's a good idea to wash up after handling them anyway . Your domestic/exotic birds like parrots and such I don't worry about

  • Everybody needs love!!!! :D

  • What a beautiful bird!

  • I take it you must show no pain around this owl to train him, and prove biting does not affect you, thus preventing him from doing it. training a conure who has never been trained before is fun. -___-

  • @ibanedfrmrs2 I guarantee I would rather take a raptor bite than a cute little Conure or any other Parrot/Cockatoo any day! I work with abused parrots and once in a while get a real doozie of a bite - nothing compares

  • @MrRelhed haha, oh really? We adopted an abused Cockatoo for a few months til we found someone who could give him the proper care and when he bit, i swear a part of me died. He could be a really sweet bird too. he loved to cuddle but he was very nervous due to his previous owner.

  • @ibanedfrmrs2 Of all the exotics that I've worked with Cockatoos are the most needy and have such fragile psyches. They tend to be the most abused because of those two facts - noisy: you leave the room & they want to be with you so they scream (loudly) - Can be destructive (understatement) .They are my favorites (I have 2) and are very affectionate ... but pack the worst bites evar!

  • guy: That's a good boy, yeah that's my boy.

    owl: *bite bite*

    guy: Good boy...good boy.

  • guy: that's a good boy,yeah that's a good boy

    owl: *bite, bite*

guy: Yeah that's a good boy

  • aww,, so proud of your patients..... I tamed 15 raccoons this way.... lol great to see..

  • *-*

  • HEDWIG!!!!YOUR BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!

  • "it's ok. it's ok." it can't speak english.

  • @redmoonsheep Can too,we got him Rosetta Stone for Christmas !

  • Edwige ?!

  • Mom!! Call Dad and tell him to pass over the SuperMarket!! I'll get that freaking Owl today..

  • I love how he gasps in the beginning with the expression :O

  • HEDWIG!

  • Do owls not respond well to... Well so i don't get negative feedback "non-positive" discipline? Or are you the kind of trainer who doesn't say bad or no?

  • @MusokaChan7497 I try to use positive reinforcement whenever possible-"no" doesn't necessarily have to be neg.it can be a door to another path that will lead to a positive result . It's a simple concept that's not so simple to explain.I have never experienced an animal that didn't respond well to this. Your question is perfectly fine & I would hope no one would beat you up over it

  • Isn't he just the crabbiest owl ... his expressions are priceless!

  • "thats a good boy" *owl bites hand*

  • thumbs up if you acomplished watching all owl videos and now overlaping them

  • Is that hurts?

  • first i wanted a ferret but then i realized they were illeagle, then after that i wanted a hedgehog, now this i want to wake up with those eye starring in my face awwww

  • really does it hurt or is it like a little pinch and tough it out thing

  • I think the bites are meant to say "take your finger out of my eye, please"

  • hahah, 0.22, the skin on your hand when he bites. xp It's sad some wild animals can't be released into their wild life again, I think they won't be as happy in the human world as they are in the wild. But if they can't be released it's really great that there is people that takes really good care of them. :)

  • Does part of the progress include giving me back my soul?

  • I was expecting a "good boy, good b... OUCH f**k!!!!!" Oh well :D

  • HEDWIG! YOU SURVIVED! :D

  • Why do you keep trying to poke his right eye out with your thumb?

  • @stevensonbak I was watching what i was doing through the LCD screen on the camera , it is hard to judge distances that way. Now here's a thought , it might hve been accidental

  • @stevensonbak Why do you assume he was TRYING to poke its eye out?

  • aaaawwwww now i want 1

  • WOW..he is beautiful!

  • HOW THE HELL DOES THAT NOT HURT

  • @MrTristanishere I am a Ninja by trade , we feel no pain

  • @MrRelhed Awesome answer.

  • @MrTristanishere I don't think the owl bites all the way throught. If it did, this video probably would not have been so pleasant to look at ;)

  • @MrTristanishere

Oh it does, but you have to ignore it to have constancy with the bird.

  • or punished (decreased). If the stimulus is positive (added) or negative (removed). In behavioral science positive and negative does not mean good or bad. Most laymen use the terms punishment and negative reinforcement interchangeably. I am sorry if I offended you, it was not my intentions. What did I say that upset you?

  • I have worked with many Hyacinths and have several of my own. I have also work with many other species. By your technique I meant the technique that you are using. Whose technique is it that your are using? I use applied behavior analysis. It is what Skinner developed and is a little more sophisticated at this time. We use a functional analysis to determine antecedents and consequences. If you change either one you change behavior. The we know if the behavior is being increased (reinforced)

  • damn.it...all.i.can.think.about.is.O.RLY....

  • @dimitrilevampire I see it in my sleep :/

  • dosnt that hurt when he bites u

  • I'm grade 4 and I was learning about snowy owl in my report. Mostly some of them live in Canada to live in the cold winter air and uh they have brownish - grayish spots and they are pure white and I think they are beautiful, cool, and awesome! I made a poster of one and I think I was an artist for doing my best job. If you go to face book only if you have an account I believe you'll

see it how good it looks. But man I wish I had a snowy owl has a pet. But I cant go to Canada + written by: Cali

  • *Where did you get your owl*

  • @Roxietheamazingcat I work for a Wildlife Rescue Center-Blizzard was brought to us after being attacked by a falcon

  • @MrRelhed Anyway to get a job like that? Would be awesome.

  • Where did u get you owl?

  • I hope I have not offended you. It is easy to point out mistakes. Lizzybird and I do this for a living. We are behavioral consultants It is second nature to us to try and improve on a person's technique and provide them with advice. We even do this with each other.

  • @Hyacinthwings again --- this is not my technique !!!

  • The methods that you are using can be improved on. You can have better success at a faster rate. When desensitizing any animal to a fearful stimulus. The stimulus is presented just *barely* within the animals comfort zone.Once the animal behavior is calm. It is removed to reinforce the calm behavior. Later presented just a little closer and again the trainer waits for calm behavior. This continues until the stimulus is no longer threatening.

  • @Hyacinthwings .....you don't get it either.

  • It is obvious that this bird means a lot to you. You do a great job of moving slowly around Blizzard and the your soft tone of voice is wonderful. I have been a colleague of Lizzybird for almost 30 years and I can say without a doubt that she has great expertise working with birds and understanding them. I do not feel she meant to be rude to you. She is aware that the science behind behavior proves that there are more effective ways then the ones you are using.

  • @Hyacinthwings I do understand, but it is just so irritating that people believe that this is my "method". I did explain the circumstances surrounding this vid but I don't think she got it. I am always open to suggestions but I expect a little understanding on your part (not you personally) before making a judgement call & posting it(anything neg. always fuels others to do the same,& I del. a lot of foul posts,so I'm always on the defense when it comes to criticism)

  • @Hyacinthwings Also, If you have not read my last post to Lizzy (it was a 2 parter describing how this vid came about-the second part of the post is labeled *Continued*)please read-I do not just reach out and grab. Also, check out my "update" vid.

Do you have or work with Hyacinths ? They are my favorite and the most beautiful of the Macaws (in my opinion)

Anyway, all I ask is that she try and understand that this was a quick vid,not my method & the camera was the reason for the stress

  • Doesn't the biting hurt as hell?

  • That biting looks freaking painful.

  • Sorry about this dude but the thing is, its better if you stroke him with the back of your hand. This is because the greases on the front of your hand can break down the owls waterproof layers on the surface.

  • @TheDeanmoz Actually this is a bit of a myth-while it is possible to wipe the ois off or rub your own into its feathers,it would take nonstop petting in that one area for a verrrry long time, also you could not produce enough oils on your hands after the initial residue was applied to the bird.I own large Parrots and Cockatoos-they love being petted(especially the Cockatoos)I handle them daily, and I do mean handle-they get baths reularly and the water still beads up

  • @MrRelhed *CONTINUED* There is a lot of talk on this subject and I can say this from experience:Birds preen daily(if healthy)this also spreads oils from the preen gland-I wash my hands before and after each bird so I don't carry whatevers from one to the other-with all the handling that I do, I have never seen a "un waterproofed" bird/owl unless it came in that way(sick or bad preen gland). It is perfectly ok to pet a bird without fear of damage, just wash your hands first-

  • You're so lucky to be around such a beautiful creature!

  • Comment removed

  • beautiful owl that, and superb job with him/her :)

  • Who in their right mind would release an injured animal in the wild? They would die.

  • To me it looks you got magic in yor hands to be able to tame the creature it made me gasp with the biting tho xD BLESS the birdy!

  • HEGWIG!!!!

  • Does it hurt when he bites/pecks you?

  • hedwig's alive!!

  • thats a bad ass name blizzard

  • omg so adorable i like their face and fur

  • O rly?

  • owls hiss O.o heres an owl face (O;O) ......... owls are smart... hes probably planning your demise as we type :>

  • Beautiful little fellow!! Ur doing a great job!!!

  • Hehe, Iike how he starts all offended, then slowly starts to think "ok... this ain't SO bad..."

  • It's so sad looking at these beautiful creatures living in a cage for the rest of their lives,as much as I love them I would rather took at them living a happy life in the sky....not in a stupid cage..if you have a heart you will let him free.

  • @LaraOsaki707 If you read the description you'd see that the owl has eye and wing trauma and can never be released, because he wouldn't survive. This owl will have to live with people if it's going to live at all. I think it's heartwarming that Humanity choose to take care of these creatures rather than just letting it die.

  • @Myrdhale I am sorry I didn't read the description,in this case I think you are right :) but I I was talking about people having animals like that just as normal pets...in your case then it's very admirable. sorry again :\

  • @LaraOsaki707 No no, I was just responding to your comment, no worries. I agree that wild animals shouldn't just be taken from their home to be made into 'pets'. It's not proper at all to do so, they belong in their natural environment. But there are always exceptions to normal cases, and this poor little fella is being given a chance to live a good life, if not a natural one.

Btw I'm not the poster of this video lol. I just felt like defending the guy.

  • @Myrdhale Thanks, you did a great job !

  • If you tried this technique with a human, you would be accused of assault - and that is exactly what you are doing with this owl. WHY are humans so obsessed w/ petting animals that DO NOT wish to be petted? Go pet a dog, for crying out loud. THEY (generally) like it.

  • @TheLizzieBird WHY DO PEOPLE NOT READ THE DESCRIPTION! This owl is permanently disabled, wing trauma and eye trauma. It can't be released and will have to be taken care of. The rest of his life. He needs to get used to people. This is a heart warming thing to see, not terrible at all. If you bothered to read you'd actually see that rather than jumping to a conclusion.

  • @Myrdhale, I *did* read your description, sir. I was not criticizing your working with the animal, I was criticizing the WAY you were working with it. You are forcing yourself on him and that is what I disliked. Should you wish, you can learn how to teach the owl to WANT to interact with you instead of just tolerate you ... which is all he will do if you keep pushing like that. Simple choice, actually.

  • @TheLizzieBird I'll answer one of your questions here-What you are seeing is just what I did for the vid, you are NOT SEEING the hours of time OR the method(s) used. Please tell me when a wild Owl will WANT to interact... ever , without starving it and making it come to you for food? You cannot "will" an animal , you have to interact and that means entering the animal's "bubble" or comfort zone

  • @Myrdhale - I worked in wildlife rehab for years and we had a variety of non-releasable animals we kept for education purposes. But we NEVER forced ourselves on them like you are doing to this poor owl. There is no reason why an animal should be forced to accept an incredibly invasive and alien behavior like petting. That has nothing to do with their learning to *accept* being around humans. Just because WE like to pet animals does not mean THEY must be forced to accept being petted.

  • @TheLizzieBird Did you read the part where I stated that Blizzard didn't like the camera ? OR, all the hours I've spent just sitting in the flight with him?Lizzie,I understand that for you there is only one acceptable proceedure here and that is to let the animal rot in its cage with no interaction other than to throw a rat at it once a day . I have worked in other "rehab centers" with people just like you. Blizzard has in no way been terrorized

  • @MrRelhed Many years ago, I trained animals exactly the same way as you do and I was just as resistant when my techniques were criticized. I have since learned there are better approaches. Google Barbara Heidenreich's website, you will find info from an excellent trainer. Her site talks about parrots but it applies to all animals. Animal trainers are doing great things w/ positive reinforcement training. I think you would be pleased w/ the progress that animal training has made. Good luck.

  • @TheLizzieBird Before this video I spent hours in Blizzards flight each day just sitting and talking untill he was accustomed to me-this went on for weeks. Each day I would venture a little closer, evetually sitting next to him on his perch.I started by touching his feet and legs&eventually the breast area. One day I reached up & touched his beak-he was ok with that so I started rubbing him on the head-excited to show my director,I pulled out my camera, which Blizzard didn't like

  • @MrRelhed *CONTINUED* This is the video that I took to show my director that day-the progress that I had made. Blizzard did not react that way untill I pulled out the camera. To think that my method of training is to just reach out ,grab, pet etc is so foolish-things arent always as they appear.I have never had a bad review in person,I have always been trusted by my superiors to work with and handle their most beloved,so plz don't judge me based on a hastily made video

  • @Myrdhale Is it just me, or is it damn hilarious that TheLizzieBird thinks you're MrRelhed and is focusing her rabid ranting on you?

  • @HooshIsASoup Lol, it really is. She seems super bent out of shape.

  • @TheLizzieBird Here's a better question: Why are animal rights nutjobs such as you are so obsessed with pissing all over every YouTube video of animals that you can find? Does PETA pay you to harass anyone with an animal, sobbing about how cruel and meaaaaan and evil they're being, or screeching demands to turn the animal loose in the wild?

  • @TheLizzieBird LizzieBird, please understand that these animals need interaction . Blizzard has to be used to people in order to remain at the wildlife center-He is used for educational purposes-tours classrooms and wildlife events along with other unreleaseable raptors. Please don't post absurd comments, you have no idea what goes on in this animal's life-Please do a little reading b-4 making such rude judgements

  • @MrRelhed - Didn't think I was being "rude," just thought I was being critical.

I was just as hurt and offended as you, when my training approaches were severely criticized years ago. But then I put my ego away and realized there was much to be learned from others.

You obviously care deeply for this animal and I suspect you might be very pleased to learn newer techniques that might be more helpful to you and the animals w/ which you work.

All the best to you in your learning process.

  • @TheLizzieBird More helpful than what ? What makes you believe that I am having problems of any kind? Did you not read my replies?Do you really believe this is my first "venture"?I have been working with birds since 1986(as well as mammals)& furthermore, there is no "ego" here-I am simply sharing with ppl what I love.you tube has enough "critical" people-I am not hurt or offended but I am irritated that you still judge without knowing. The learning process never ends

  • you are a great and patient man.thank you

  • I don't think he likes being touched by humans...

  • @THEABSENT Well he's been injured and humans are trying to keep him alive and with a decent life so he needs to get used to it.

  • that's kind of like are cockatiels…they don't always want to be petted, but then they're like ooooh yeah right there

  • Fuck! It hurts :(

  • i like how you don't give a fuck he's biting the hell out of your hand

  • @darkelegy20 Yeah looks painful, but its all apart of it training, Not to pull your hand away in fear. Birds can sense the fear and when you pull away quickly you are yielding to the bird and that puts them in a position of authority.

  • Are owls good pets???

  • LET HIM GET BACK TO HARRY POTTER!

  • @backspacereturnshift I'll trade him for that damn sock he gave dobby ....

  • Yeah.. I'm gonna have to buy an owl some day now

  • @0:23 You when you say "Yaaa.....good...boy.........good....boy...." I have a chilly feeling that you gonna SM the Owl. So, did you?

  • @mindoes1983 SM??

  • @MrRelhed nevermind I was just trying to make a shit joke. sadomasochistic activity

  • @mindoes1983 Kinda what I thought but wasn't sure LOL

  • @MrRelhed sexually molest...

  • your fingers are sometimes in it's eyes. pat it properly if u dumbass

  • YOU HAS A O'RLY!!! :-D

  • he bites hurt?:3

  • One special moment.

  • watchin it stoned

    ,

  • APTALLAR! O EVCİL BİR HAYVAN DEĞİL!

  • @bozukbuton Hayır, o bir evcil hayvan değildir ama wild. This dönmek için bir yaban hayatı kurtarma merkezi de ağır yaralandı - o iyi bakımı için

  • what a beautiful animal - thanks for sharing something with us we never would have had the chance to see!!

  • He tries so hard to be angry, but he just can't. ;-)

  • Is this where all the Owl experts are then? - NO, it isn't. You all know fuck all about them just like me! That's why we are here, to watch people who know what they are doing.

    =)

  • LOL CUTE, owl: HEY STOP IT!, oh this is nice, HEY WHAT? STOP IT, OH THIS IS GOOD, but youre poking my eye:(.

  • The Owl is like: get away from me you giant hairless mouse! but then OK i'll let you do it again

  • pretty! .. respect for such a lovely animal

  • SO CUTE!!!!

  • dude that has to hert

  • Hedwig!

  • i so freaking want your job

  • Think in a bout 8 yrs or so after my fox goes from old age, I will take up an owl as a pet.

  • Hedwig...

  • Tsundere owl

  • such dirty hand... so close to eyes -_-

  • @wwoo5 and what do you say to the dog after he licks his butt ??

  • @MrRelhed How did u get a pet snow owl and doesn't it hurt when he bits?

  • @shidhd Hi, I actually don't "own" him,he resides under the care of a Wildlife Rescue Center that I work at-but I do get to interact with him as if he were my own . So far I hve not been bitten really hard by him - others , yes and if they want to hurt you then you will know it . To be honest, the Crows that I work with bite much harded and more often-those little buggers really hurt !

  • Hedwig?! you're alive ! :D

  • Owls have the most dramatic eyes.

  • Parrots like to be petted against the direction the feathers grow. Do owls like this too? I got another one too: Do owls let you pet them under their wings? Some parrots that trust you let you.

  • @mikejessmax I can pet the owls & hawks on the head like that with no problems - under the wing they like once they are used to being touched

  • Something about petting an owl is like a cure for insomnia...

  • Can it deliver mail?

  • @321PieMan No, but he makes an outstanding pizza!

  • beautiful. keep up the good work! I love all creatures great and small.

  • I doubt that owls enjoy being petted like dogs.

  • @zarehara Bubos have 300+psi grip in their claws, If they didn't want to get touched, they would let us know.

  • @MPSecare Absolutely 100% correct

  • What is the last place an owl would let you pet him/her as you are trying to gain its trust?

  • @megabeaver23 His/her back-it takes a long , long time before they (or any raptor) will comfortably let you run your hand down it's back. We have a Red Tailed Hawk who is very tame and gentile but will hop away if you pet her back-must be a predatory thing

  • @MrRelhed lol its a reptile not a raptor

  • @polzowatel ......You are definately smarter than most people give you credit for ! I stand corrected,it is indeed a reptile *rolls eyes*

  • @MrRelhed hahah thanks, im just a pre-med, and we study this kind of stuff thats why i know

  • @polzowatel haha. ur funny. Are you being serious. Im pretty sure he knows what he is talking about. and when is the last time you seen a reptile fly?LMAO!!!!

  • @KanakaMouli510 dude youre ignorant, what does a fly have to do with this? we are talking about animals that lay hard eggs and act different from mamals, should have finished highschool you'd learn many interesting things there
