This video single-handedly won me over for fire orbs.. I've only ever seen very dance-y videos and i thought they seemed kind of limiting, but this is awesome.
To make that practice orb I pushed a nylon rope through a tennis ball and put a knot on both side of the ball to keep it from sliding around. The only drawback to that design is when you do 'buzzsaw' stuff, the rope kind'a twists up. Swivels are key! :) Hope that helps.
Kind sir, I am glad you have posted tutorials and move ideas for this underappreciated art! I do poi and am getting started with orbs now. Where did you get your fire orb from this video? It looks like a monkey fist knot? I didn't see these on homeofpoi..
