My guess was Ne6. It would not result in a checkmate (though it could, if your enemy is not that smart) but it would force black to give up the queen at least and that's a major advantage. Qg7 is far better though.
just finished reading the book you recomend at the end of the video. having never read a book about chess, i can say that it has improved my game greatly. thank you
Well if you play 1)Nf5? then black wins with Bxb2 you lose bishop and can't checkmate on g7. Ofcourse if black plays 1) Nf5? Bxh6?? 2)Nxh6++. But, i think most people would see it, and you just drop a piece. Greatings.
@sdbaets Hey bro.. YOu first have to sacrifice your queen eating the enemy bishop first. Then next step is Nf5. so only way to run from double check is to go back g8 so it is going te be checkmate at Nh5
Keep up the great videos majnu. My chess interest has fallen recently, but I watch every single video you put out. Congrats on reaching 100, and here's to 100 more.
Susan Polgar wrote a chess tactics book called "A World Champion's Guide to Chess: Step-by-step instructions for winning chess the Polgar way"
It has an entire chapter dedicatd to recognising chess patterns to win games, just like the one in your video, she said it was an essential part of her training as a child.
(ps, I checked and Polgar released her book first, so maybe Martin Weteschnik didnt look hard enough!)
For some strange reason the comments on this video are not shown as they should. The original comments are on the next page. Here only the replies to those comments are visible!?
Only the most recent comments show, and in case those are replies, then only the replies will show instead of having the original along. If you click on View all comments though, it will show up correctly.
Congrats on your 100th, that many more may have to follow :) And thanks for the book-recommendation, should have a look at it ;-)
Very nice video. I got the puzzle very quickly, but it wasnt from recognizing the last position. I got it because i was thinking, the queen has to take the bishop cuz its a puzzle. After that, i just solved it.
hahaha, yes sometimes we think like that when we see a puzzle. But in our own games nobody tells us that we have reached a puzzle like position. Recognising the pattern is also important to know how to try to create those patterns in our own games.
Wow! 100 videos! Congratulations; keep them coming!
It's interesting how I recognized the mating pattern when you showed it "naked", but wasn't able to get to the final position correctly... I guess that's the point of reading that book, right?
nice video

@deliveryman Actually Nf5 fails, for eg 1.Nf5 Bxb2!! and the g7 square is defended preventing mate ;)
